Very local to us, and use occasionally for lunch. The current owners have greatly improved the décor, and present a reasonably varied menu with well cooked food and friendly service. However, a visit to the gents toilet showed that this area had been neglected. Cracked wall tiles, rusty basin plughole with no plug, sealant required between basin & wall, and... More

I've been here with a friend for lunch. The location is really nice, in the countryside but not far from the motorway. The place is run as a family business, and the staff were really kind. The menu doesn't have a lot of choice, but is seasonal. I ordered liver and bacon and it was really good. The food was... More

Visited with my friend this Wednesday evening, arrived to a warm cosy ambiance. Food was excellent, wonderfully presented, good wine. Would definitely recommend this place. During November they are doing buy one main course on their pub classics, get the second half price! Will be back 😊

Pleasant suprise when we arrived , a party of ten.The first impression is very pleasing with interior looking very clean , fresh modern but Cosby. The menu choice was not huge but often this is a advantage as at least you know it's freshly cooked. The quality of our varied choices was good presented beautifully,I can recommend the steak pie served... A new car and a new sat nav took me to London via M5 and M4 and while I knew plenty of good eating places off the A30 and A303 I didn't know where to try off the M5. Not fancying Service Station food we left the M5 at junction 20 and found The Star Inn as we drove through... More

I had 2 family lunches here over the summer - the first was midweek, and the food was excellent, beautifully presented and mostly generous portions, with the exception of the sea bass. Sunday lunch wasn't as good however. On the up side they had live music that day and it created a nice atmosphere. The dining room is very clean... More

Under new management this pub has had a make over and now feels more up- market feels more like a hotel lounge. Decent beers (Proper Job, Butcombe and Piston and Broken, on our visit) and good food. Nice garden and children's play area.

We came here for lunch one weekday and nearly walked out when we saw the décor. The chairs didn't belong in a Pub and along with the décor it did not have a good feel about it. Staff were not the most friendly or particularly willing to be helpful. The food however wasn't bad but my particular dish needed to... More
