What can i say about this place, we stayed just overnight for an escape from the children as a break away and were not dissapointed. Situated in perfect picturesque surroundings and rear parking for our car made the start of our stay at ease.

Emily was there to greet us and show us to our room (room 8). Room was clean and well stocked with tea, coffee and sherry as well as a wall mounted TV and loads of cupboard space for our clothes etc. Bathroom had a walk in shower and was spotless throughout and nice touches used (bathrobes, soap, towels etc).

Restaurant was very clean and the food was fantastic. Both of us had the lamb cutlets and for desert was the caramelized pineapple with Baileys ice-cream (Yum Yum).

In the morning our breakfast was served in our room (as we requested this) and was the best i have ever had, just well cooked and good portion size.

I must mention to give out thanks to Emily who was busy looking after everyone and was at times under pressure BUT gave 110% to us as a couple and nothing was to much trouble. Thank you Emily you are a star.

This is a gem of a place and i would like to thank all the staff for a perfect 24 hour stay and maybe next time a longer stay would be in order. Keep up the good work.

I guess the previous reviews speak for themselves. We tend to do our research about where we stay, and this place jumped out at us. It's fair to say, Castle of Comfort totally exceeded our expectations. We travelled with our 7 month old puppy and stayed in a standard room. From the moment we arrived we were very well looked after. The complimentary tea/coffee and cake on arrival was a great touch and much appreciated after a long drive. The breakfast was amazing - in my experience, well above and beyond what you would reasonably expect. We asked to sit outside (good weather and a puppy) and this was accommodated. I have to say
, the staff really make this an inviting place to be and are without doubt the friendliest group of staff I have encountered in the UK. Combine the friendly staff with the amazing outdoor space (great space if you bring your dog), the light and spacious rooms and the amazing views (included the building itself), and you've got a truly amazing get away location. I would recommend unreservedly and I know myself and my partner will return. Not very often I say this, but personally I'd have happily paid another £30-40 for the night without thinking anything of it. Thank you for an amazing visit and I'm already planning our return! Overall, I rate all aspects of our trip 10/10.

We stayed just one night to celebrate our 54th Wedding Anniversary. On arrival, we were welcomed, shown to our room, the Italian Suite, with an invitation to come down when ready for our complimentary tea and cake. We were made comfortable in the lounge and enjoyed the welcome tea and cake before exploring the grounds. The weather was sadly indifferent, but we spent a happy half hour or so in peace by the pool, watching a myriad of dragon flies or possibly damsel flies hunting over the pool, in the lee of the trees. We returned to enjoy a hot shower, before going down for dinner, The food was delightful and the service friendly, washed down by some very reasonably priced prosecco. We retired to our suite happy for a good night's sleep in a comfortable king sized bed. Breakfast the next morning was similarly well presented with tea and coffee in generous amounts, to go with the fresh fruit salad, and the full english breakfast. A lovely break and we hope to return to this gem of a hotel, with hospitality at it's best.

From our welcome by Emily and throughout our two day stay, it was obvious that this hotel prides itself on getting things just as the customer wants them. From how much water you want with your scotch to how do you want Carol to cook your food, NOTHING was too much trouble for them. We were thoroughly pampered. The room ( no 7) was quite large , the bathroom and shower excellent. As others have commented the room accessories made us feel right at home. The whole atmosphere was very peaceful and we will definitely be going again.

One of the most comfortable hotels we have ever stayed at. The owners were very welcoming and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and everywhere was so clean. What we found amazing was the complimentary glass of sherry each day in your room and cake if you wanted it. We will be back. Truly superb

Quiet out of the way retreat. Food was good. Complimentary coffee and cake went down a treat and breakfast ample with quality, locally sourced food at a reasonable price.
This place is gorgeous!
The owner and her staff were very friendly and helpful and I couldnt fault them.
I would definitely stay here again.
Rooms were very comfortable and clean, the grounds are beautiful and even on a cloudy day we spent the whole afternoon in the pool, felt like our own secret garden. The most perfect romantic getaway, was everything we wanted, thank you.

We stayed at Castle of Comfort for one night while attending a wedding nearby. I wish we could have stayed longer! I’d asked in advance if we could collect our keys early due to the timings of the wedding - this wasn’t a problem and we were able to check in to our room early which was a bonus.

We had a standard double for £95. The room was cosy and full of so many thoughtful touches - bathrobes, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, tea and coffee with biscuits, peanuts and a sherry nightcap.

The breakfast room was lovely and there was so much choice. As vegetarians we were pleased to be able to have a veggie cooked breakfast with vegetarian sausages which wasn’t on the menu but wasn’t a problem.

The staff were so attentive, asking how the wedding was and wishing us a safe journey home. I’d definitely recommend.

Every detail about the hotel and staff is superb. It’s absolutely top notch. We had booked a 2 night stay and enjoyed every minute. The pool was our first stop for relaxation after a rather hectic trip. All rooms are comfy well equipped and I personally always judge a hotel by its beds and pillows pillows. Both are top quality here and you can be assured of a very comfortable sleep.

The cuisine is truly excellent and superbly cooked and presented, with a good variety to choose from. A comfy lounge adds to the overall relaxation of your stay. The grounds are lovely and well maintained and ideal if you want to enjoy a cream tea outside, or to relax after swimming in the pool.

The area is delightful and as walkers we found the Kilvie walk over to East Quantockhead a very pleasant 4 mile trek. It was wonderful enjoying sea breezes after having endured the recent heatwave.

We thoroughly recommend the hotel, lovely staff, ambience, and ALL. And, we’ve booked ahead for next year! 😀

Due to the lack of travel options this year we decided to take the chance to re visit some “we must come back” locations in the uk.
One place was the Castle of Comfort, even better was the news the restaurant was also open.
On arrival the standard was set, a polite notification to please wait to enter if the lobby was occupied. Hooray! Civility and mutual respect was requested of the guests and the staff were very respectful of social distancing while being just available when you needed them. From a drink at the bar to the impeccable Ashleigh and her perfect timing of just checking if you would like a drink by the pool.
Carols fantastic Faye which we indulged in for both nights of our stay and amazing breakfasts.
The rooms are lovely with crisp linens and lovely toiletries provided each with their own character.
We may not have been able to go abroad on holiday but we were able to have a wonderful break away. This is a small independent that does all the COVID precautions with care and consideration in a mindful and managed way.
What you have is the chance for a wonderful break and the chance to support the economy and small businesses like this one.
