This is a self-explanatory email we sent to the manager - needless to say, we are still awaiting a reply: Hello We don’t usually complain about hotels but we stayed at the Cornerhouse last night and it was something of a nightmare. We were in room No4 and we didn’t get any sleep at all. The towel rail in the bathroom was on full blast and we couldn’t turn it off. It made the room suffocatingly hot all night. We put the fan on and opened the window but it didn’t make any difference and the noise of the fan kept us awake anyway. To add to our problems, the toilet cistern was running loudly all night. We can see that you’ve taken commendable efforts to refurbish the Cornerhouse, but we don’t expect to spend £90 on a room for the night and not get any sleep. It seems to us that the least you could do is offer us a partial refund or a discount towards a future stay. We await your response.

Everything you could want from a B&B for a weekend stay really; the bed was comfortable, the shower was powerful and hot, the breakfast was good and the staff made a real effort to accommodate my dietary requirements. It’s on quite a busy road so there is a bit of traffic noise, but it wasn’t enough to disturb my sleep, and it’s well located for town.

Stayed here as was located near to Longleat which we were visiting. Hotel was easy to find & with parking, Our room was a quadruple room With a double bed & 2 singles, plenty of space for our family of 4 adults. Bathroom could do with some tlc but was clean & plenty of hot water. Staff all friendly. Restaurant was pleasant & breakfast was good, we also ate here in the evening, food basic but nice. We stayed for 2 nights & thought it was good value, so thumbs up from us

First I have to say that The Cornerhouse is very well located for Frome's main drag, and its selection of bars and restaurants. But if you arrive by car, first impressions are not spectacular - the car park is a bit unprepossessing, and the hotel entrance underwhelming. Once in, you have to thread your way through a dark-painted corridor, past the open kitchen door, into the bar to check in. Then things start to look up, as you are now in the hands of one of the team of mainly young and enthusiastic staff. Some of the Cornerhouse's common parts could do with freshening up, but everywhere was clean, and the room was fine, with a comfortable bed and a decent-sized bathroom. Although the hotel is situated on a busy junction, traffic noise died away towards the end of the evening and we got a decent night's sleep (apart from the squeaky floorboards in the room above, which we reported on departure.) Food-wise, we couldn't fault The Cornerhouse. We arrived on Burger Night, catered by Mood Foods, and my cheese burger was one of the nicest I have ever had in a restaurant. Breakfasts were equally good, the Full English a corker - quality ingredients, freshly cooked, with waitress service to the table. The Cornerhouse is a little shabby here and there, nothing that a couple of coats of paint wouldn't fix, but overall it offers comfortable accommodation, very decent food, and the staff are lovely. At the price it's good value, and if we were in this part of the world in the future we'd stay again.
