Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This really would take some beating. Very welcoming and homely, comfy beds, good sized room, superb bathroom - especially the shower, and a separate lounge and breakfast room which is well supplied with tea and coffee etc. Breakfast excellent. Very peaceful location but easy to find, and the price is very modest too! What more could anyone want?

Sally and Mervin made you feel very welcome from the start. Lovely en suite room and private lounge with beautiful countryside as the view. Kindly did a late check in and rang local pub for dinner reservation. Cannot fault them and looking forward to visiting again to see further places of interest in the area.

Over many years of travel, we have experienced B&B's from the very best down to the really, really awful. This B&B is truly one of the best. Wonderful location, clean, neat and tidy, very comfortable, good food, accommodating hosts,... but enough other reviewers have told us these things. As I understood the story, Sally and Mervyn created Croftlands as a post-retirement project after Mervyn handed the day-to-day management of their farm over to his son and Sally decided she wanted to have a B&B. Their home is located away from the farm headquarters in a beautiful and tranquil setting south of Frome (Somerset in southwest England). They built an extension off their kitchen which provides a traditional stone exterior and modern interior space with two ensuite bedrooms and shared sitting room. It also benefits from a private entrance and parking. It is modern and up-to-date yet feels like a warm traditional home. The view from the sitting room is across a lovely horse pasture (three very nice ex-racehorses are resident). But best of all, Sally and Mervyn are interesting people who are involved in their local village life and engaged in the wider world beyond. East and West Woodlands provide some of the best of village life - these are very engaged communities. There are outdoor sports, traditional pubs, the annual Music Hall in East Woodlands and right on the doorstep is Frome with its two theatres. A bit further afield are Bath and Bristol as well as the delights of the south coast. We love it here and I expect we will be back.

This was a surprise visit organised by my daughter & son-in-law and what a surprise. Excellent does not seem adequate to describe such a wonderfully clean, comfortable, peaceful stay with excellent hospitality shown by Sally, Mervyn and not forgetting Widget. Nothing was too much trouble whatsoever, a wonderful home from home experience. I felt totally spoilt, my only regret that our stay was too short and wished we could have stayed longer. We will definitely return and hopefully become regulars as and when we can. Both Sally and Mervyn go above and beyond ensuring people have a comfortable and thoroughly pleasant stay. Thank you.

A 2 room B&B your own shared living room with tea/coffee and biscuits, lovely and quiet nothing is too much trouble for Sally or Mervyn we love it there. 11/10, it was hard to find at first but follow Maiden Bradley sign on the main roundabout and its 200 yards on the right, open spaces, horses, sheep, and a jack russel who was adorable could not have been more perfect.

My husband and I stayed here for just the one night but were absolutely spoilt in this beautiful bed and breakfast. The B&B itself was very clean, the cooked breakfast was beautiful and we were also really happy with the room. The thing that stood out to us the most was the welcoming nature of the owners, nothing was too much trouble for them and they were so friendly and helpful. The scenery is beautiful and they even went out of their way to feed the lambs & sheep with us around so we could take a look at them up close. Overall an absolutely lovely place with genuinely friendly and kind owners and a scenic location.

A beautiful bed and breakfast with the most friendly and obliging hosts. Sally and Mervyn have exceptional customer service and are so warm and welcoming. The surroundings are divine and it is so peaceful and calm. 4 of my family went away for my Mums birthday and my family have visited before and for me this was my first time, but I will definitely be back. The accommodation was very comfortable and very clean, really high standards and the food was amazing! I am vegan and Sally catered brilliantly for my needs which was so nice and I am very grateful. Thank you so much for your awesome hospitality, much appreciated.

I picked this B&B after reading a review that said don't stay at the Premier Inn stay here. I'm so glad I did! It turned out to be the same price, but with a fantastic English breakfast thrown in that lasted us for the day. Delicious. Extremely good quality with the bacon and sausages from the local butcher. Best I've had in a long time. There are two rooms that share a sitting room, but there weren't any other guests there when we were so we had the whole place to ourselves. Sally and Mervyn are lovely and made us feel very welcome. Sally's home made fruit cake is gorgeous and very gratefully received, with a nice cup of tea, after a long journey. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit the area. Lovely.
