I really wanted to like this place more, having had family lunches here in the past. But it didn't quite deliver: room large but tatty fittings in places, with occasional hot water. Food not served after 8pm (on a Friday evening) so had to go...More
I was pleased with the room I'd been allocated on the top floor. A well equipped and decorated room with a modern bathroom. The only disappointment was that the bathroom ran out of hot water. I ran a bath on the night of my stay...More

Stayed for one night as a sensible stop off point on travels. The room was very good, nicely furnished, good towels and agreeable bathroom. The whole effect was cosy. The only issue was the number of stairs up and down to get to our room...More

Hi. Sorry about delay, just picked up your question. Yes the George is in a very central location, in fact the George hotel is one of the local pubs itself, there are lots of other pubs and resturant’s very nearby, some do music and quizzes, nice chinese up the hill opposite. They have also got a couple of ‘tap rooms’ which have a selection of craft ales, some of the shops are pretty quirky as well. Right outside hotel is main bus routes to Bath. Car park is a challenge to find and navigate, go up beside hotel turn right in front of cinema, car park is literally under cinema. If you have a large vehicle it might be difficult, standard car no problem with care.
