The Plough Inn is a village pub situated on the main A39 from Bridgwater, Somerset towards Minehead and at the foot of the Quantock Hills. We are ideally situated for walking on the hills, mountain biking and a short distance from the beach. We have a large carpark to the rear and beer garden to the front, we also welcome dogs into the pub. We serve excellent pub food all day at reasonable prices and provide a takeaway service.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a lovely Easter Sunday roast, served by friendly staff, all in a nice country Pub atmosphere. If you are in the area, well worth a visit. We were staying close by. However, it will be easy to find if you are on Holiday and it has a good size car park.

Whilst working in the area I had the pleasure of dining here 4 times. On every occasion the food was delicious. Portions of a good size, real value for your money. The bar staff and waitresses are all really nice and welcoming and go out of there way to ensure your visit is a pleasurable one.

We came here for a roast on Sunday and had amazing beef. I am coeliac so couldn’t have the Yorkshire pudding or cauliflower cheese (which looked incredibly) but absolutely delicious and plenty of gluten free dessert options. I felt confident that my gf request was taken seriously and I trusted their knowledge. When I called to book, I asked if it would be ok to bring my dog, which it was…though I had no idea how welcome he would be. Water bowl ready for him on arrival, followed by a treat and his own menu. He had a pupachino and liver cakes which was a pretty generous portion; I was expecting us to get ripped off. There were dog blankets and towels available too. It was so nice to be somewhere that dogs weren’t just an afterthought but also didn’t feel like doggy daycare. Highly recommend.

Stopped for a bite to eat here after a morning in watchet with my partner and dog. What a pleasant surprise. Staff very attentive and friendly. Food and drinks were lovely. Bonus was a menu for monty who thoroughly enjoyed his sausage bowl and liver cakes.

Room Tip: Plenty of parking. Dog friendly doesn’t mean dogs allowed. It means dogs truly welcome.

We had a large (16) family gathering here for Sunday lunch after a nearby walk on the Quantocks. Unfortunately we were a little late but our hosts were most welcoming and accepting of our apology. Most had the Sunday lunch which whilst a little pricey, was very good. Service was very good and we were well looked after. Pub was busy and had a wonderful atmosphere. And the Guinness was excellent. Will definitely go back.

Should you check out the Ploughs website be open to expect everything that is detailed to be true. My wife and I had pre booked an evening meal accompanied with our dog only to find on the table a menu for dogs as well as humans. Once the orders had been placed the warm and friendly atmosphere did allow us to relax and enjoy our food and drinks. What a gem, hidden in plain sight on the main road through Holford, it’s what I would want for it to be my local. Many thanks to all on making our experience memorable.

We needed a bit of lunch and were driving in the area when we spotted the Plough Inn, and we were very glad we did. Great, friendly place - we had the roast beef and it was fab! Really nice staff, great atmosphere and very welcoming - we could have stopped there all afternoon!

Our 2nd visit to this lovely pub. It was very busy which is testament to it being a charming, well run and cosy pub doing great food. Dog friendly & some nice touches like doggie towels & blankets for those coming in after a long walk on the hill. Staff and food great, we’ll be back.

On our way back home from Minehead we spotted the plough and decided to stop off for a bite to eat. From the moment you walked in you got that wholesome and warm feeling and we were well greeted by the locals and staff. We opted for the homemade and cottage pie and the hunters chicken and neither disappointed. The ingredients were fresh and it was almost as if the main ingredients were love and care, it was delicious! Toilets were impeccably clean and the decor in them was quirky but beautiful at the same time. I would drive the 3 hours just to visit and have a meal and drive back it was that good. It’s a must visit for anyone in the area!
