Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for a two night break with friends. Tyrone and Neil were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Lemon drizzle cake on arrival was a lovely touch. The rooms were spotless and comfortable with high end soft furnishings. We could have chatted all day to the hosts who were interesting and funny. Our break was so fabulous we have booked again for next year. Can’t wait to return and discover more of this beautiful area….oh and see Neil and Tyrone.!

Fabulous. From arrival to departure everything was faultless. The hosts Tyrone and Neil made us feel so at home. Lemon drizzle on arrival, superb breakfasts and spotlessly clean well appointed rooms. We plan to return next year as it was just perfect for 3 friends on a short break.

Myrtle Cottage is a gem of a place. The hosts, Tyrone and Neil go above and beyond to ensure a fabulous stay. The comfortable rooms were all immaculately furnished and spotlessly clean (we booked all three). The breakfasts were delicious as was the locally made lemon drizzle cake on arrival. My dog was made so welcome, he didn't want to leave. He even had his own towel and breakfast. Perfect location for walking either from the cottage or on nearby Exmoor. There is a useful bootroom to keep dirty walking shoes/boots and hose outside to clean the dog. Also within walking distance of great pubs, tea rooms and shops. My friends and I are already planning our return visit.

Lovely welcome by Tyrone & Neil. Room was spacious, comfortable and exceptionally clean with everything you need, and I'm sure if you did need anything, the hosts would provide it. Stayed 1 night, to attend a Sea Shanty Show in the Village Hall, which was great. Could chat to our hosts all day, so friendly & such lovely people. Keep doing what you are doing guys, you are amazing x Will definitely be back!

This was our return visit to Myrtle Cottage having stayed last year as soon as Neil and Tyrone took over. Things were perfect and we wondered how they could be bettered. However, the changes that they have carried out has made a stay at Myrtle even better! The new decor is simply stunning with the rooms now decorated in beautiful earthy tones, that fit in perfectly with Exmoor. The mattress was the ultimate in comfort and the room spotlessly clean. The welcome tray had delicious handmade chocolates for us and there was a special treat for our dog. What had not changed was the very warm welcome that we received. That welcome included our dog Archie. Neil and Tyrone are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble for them. They go out of their way to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible. The breakfast was fit for a king, and where possible locally sourced. They even cooked a sausage each day for Archie. I don't know of anywhere else that cleans your windscreen for you on your day of departure and leaves a card wishing you a safe onward journey. We have a special celebration next year and couldn't think of any other place we would rather go to celebrate. Thank you for everything Neil and Tyrone. Jo, Charles, and Archie.

A great B&B with wonderful hosts, Tyrone and Neil who are very attentive to their guests needs. Breakfasts are excellent- with a wide choice of options , much more than you would normally get in a B&B. Dog friendly - our dog loved her sausage for breakfast ! Rooms are very comfy and tastefully decorated. Perfect location close to some good pubs for dinner. We will be back for our fifth visit !

Stayed in this lovely cottage for 2 nights with a group of friends for a cycling weekend and booked all the rooms. Prior to our arrival, Neil & Tyrone (hosts) were helpful and informative. All rooms were immaculate and well equipped, nice little touches, even supplying ear plugs and daily top ups of room treats! Quality and quantity of breakfast choices could not be faulted, down to all locally sourced ingredients. Local pubs for evening meals were great value, and the local beach and countryside is a stunning location, perfect if you love the outdoors. Definitely looking forward to revisiting early next year. Thank you Neil & Tyrone for your wonderful hosting skills, Regards Luke

Girls night away so booked the family room. The owners manage the whole booking so well and great communication. Great welcome and our room was decorated beautifully! Added little touches such as handmade sweets in the room, chilled water ready and also choose your breakfast ready for the morning! Full English on offer, however bring veggie we had a smaller breakfast and skipped the meat options. Set on the main road through a Porlock so serviced by local pubs and shops. Plus great for visiting area too as they have off road parking available. On leaving, they’d even washed our windshield! Highly recommend to all!

Hi to all three of you, and thank you for the wonderful review and highly recommending us at Myrtle Cottage. If only you had told us you were veggie, we do ask in the pre-arrival communications about dietry requirements and we always have plant based rashers and sausages available, you could have had an even bigger breakfast ..... now you have to comeback to expeience these ... thank again T&N
