I've seen a couple of negative reviews, do not be put off by them! If it's the ritz your after then visit somewhere else! This place was opposite our accommodation so yes an easy first option, but we was not disappointed. It's a beautiful building, it's got a little modern feel with some of the cosy furniture along with traditional...

Needed a late Jan night out, lovely hotel, great relaxing bar for an afternoon pint on nice sofas surrounded by books. The rooms are fresh and bright, warm and welcoming, recently decorated, good shower, the staff are really friendly and the breakfast is superb, many thanks for a great stay.

Really nice chick pea currry and beer at a good price. We visited on a cold night while walking the South West Coast Path. The staff were friendly and the pub welcomed children with helpful play stuff. The walls are lined with books so you could happily have read a novel while you ate.

Went for dinner a few days ago. The food was just ok, large portions but not the best pub food we've had, but the staff made the experience pleasant as they were so competent and lovely. Very casual and friendly environment!

Driving through the Devon Countryside on a crisp winter day we stopped for lunch in Porlock in the heart of Exmoor. The pub/restaurant we chose was The Castle. What a joy, the staff were so friendly, the decor and atmosphere most welcoming and the food was fresh and oh so good! There were a chose of seating arrangement, massive sofas...

We got a newly refurbished room which was reasonably quiet and super warm. Pretty much all you need. Comfy bed, nice shower, etc etc. Super value for money. Breakfast was good. Just don't eat in the restaurant...

Warm room, welcoming staff and ideally placed for walks through woodland and along the beach in November. The room was well decorated with a super shower, but single glazed window meant that we awoke to condensation obscuring our view

We found this pub just on the high street in Porlock. Very pleasant interior with comfy arm chairs and open fires. The bar staff were very pleasant and helpful. Well cooked pub food. It is a small hotel as well which would be a convenient place to stay.
