Directions: We are located at Porlock just off the A39, which follows the picturesque Somerset coastline between Williton and Lynmouth. If approaching Porlock from Minehead, descend into the village and turn immediately right into Meadowhayes - the campsite is directly ahead of you at the end of this road. If approaching Porlock from Lynmouth, descend Porlock Hill and travel through the village, rounding the corner next to the church. Look for a small road on the left-hand side, Sparkhayes Lane. Turn in here and follow the winding road for a short distance until, at the junction with Meadowhayes, you see the campsite on your left. Amenities: There is so much to do near here for those who love fresh air and countryside. Boundless acres of Exmoor to explore, beaches and extensive woodlands, various National Trust properties and picture-postcard scenery including thatched cottages and pack-horse bridges. Cream tea heaven, with horse riding and golf a short distance away. Local attractions include the West Somerset Railway, Butlins, Exmoor Zoo and many more. Porlock is well equipped with cafes, restaurants and pubs, all reasonably priced, and our little harbour at Porlock Weir is well worth a walk. Stunning sunsets and abundant wildlife, a relaxed, friendly and extremely clean environment.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have been coming here, off and on for over 20 years. It is basic but perfect. Everything just works. The owner, Phil, is a real gent. The showers are small, but wear shorts in, and hang them and your towel on the door. They won't get wet and then after your shower dry yourself down and put your shorts back on .

Third time back to this great little gem in Porlock, Phil always greets you with a smile.

The campsite is kept clean and generally everyone obeys the 2300 quit time.

The campsite is close to the pubs and local shops along with the views from our tent we will be back Sparkhayes

We stayed here for a short break in our camper-van in mid-August and the site is in a great location and the site itself is good. Social distancing markers are in place so you know where to pitch/park but that's where it ends. No real sign of any cleaning 'regime' of the shower blocks/toilets and what was worse was that large groups of friends who clearly booked individually arrived together and pitched together and made 12+ people all from different families, congregating for the entire weekend together. Would we go back or recommend the site, yes but when things are a little more 'normal'

We visited our daughter and her partner who were staying at the site for a few nights. They asked on arrival if it was ok to barbecue and advised of visitors on Saturday afternoon for a birthday celebration, and no issues were raised.
Today Saturday 9th July 2022 my wife and I arrived at the site and spoke to the owner before entering to ask if it was ok to proceed down to the campsite to where our daughter was pitched, he said yes that was fine.
During the afternoon another 3 couples from our family arrived and parked at the top car park and walked down to the lower field and joined us for the birthday celebration.
By about 6.00 pm the celebrations and barbecue were over and the guests had already in the majority left.
At this point the owner came across and complained to our daughter about having guests and using his car park and toilet facilities during the afternoon in a very unfriendly manner.
The whole afternoons celebrations and my daughters enjoyment of the weekend at the site were spoilt by such a rude intervention by the site owner.
I have never seen a campsite where guests using pitches are not allowed visitors who conform to any site rules and think this owner does not deserve repeat customers if he takes such attitudes with perfectly harmless family catch ups.
If the owner does not want visitors he should say so in his site information and if wants facilities paid for by additional visitors or car park users then again he should say so.
A very rude owner who obviously does not understand customer satisfaction.
I would not use his site again based on his rudeness.

Covered seating area with sea view, bonus kettle/microwave, plenty of loos, 2 mins walk one way to shops, few mins the other way down to the salt marsh and back onto the Coast Path, very friendly and accommodating owner, and lovely fellow guests. Really well set-up site. Was very sorry only to be passing through and not staying longer. There are many much more expensive sites not offering half these amenities!

A beautiful relaxed peaceful campsite in the most perfect location . The village shops and pubs and cafes are an easy 2min walk from the site . The beach and coast path are an easy stroll from the campsite. We had a great pitch with seaviews. The toilets are the cleanest I ever seen on a campsite. The showers had plenty of hot water. We visited Porlock to mtb and this site was a perfect spot to access the many rides that the area offers. Phil the owner is really helpful and makes you feel really welcome. We will definitely be back to stay again !

A lovely campsite in the village of Porlock. Phil the owner was very welcoming and allowed us to leave behind bags for collection after our walk to Lynton. Site has all the facilities with a level field and fantastic views. I would stay here again.

Large fields for camping. Grass was very long in the bottom field. Toilets only in the bottom field and showers and loos located in the top field. Only 2 showers but several loos in the women’s. Clean but basic. Very friendly bunch of campers, moho’s, tents and bikers. Sea views and right in the village walking distance to the pubs.

Just returned from a 7 night break here. We didn’t want a big site that was packed out.
We were not disappointed. The toilets / showers are kept very clean and site is relaxed. The views are beautiful.
Porlock village has everything you need!
Big shout out to Phil the site owner, he is very friendly and accommodating. We Will return

Hello! There are no set arrival or departure times, but it is appreciated if campers are quiet if arriving in the evening in order not to disturb other campers who might be asleep or putting children to bed :)

Hello! Yes you're welcome to park next to your pitch, no problem. Unfortunately camp fires are not permitted on the camp site but the beach is nearby and perfect for an evening camp fire :)
