Luggage transfer available. Open February - December with limited winter availability. 5 Minutes walk to the village and its shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Fine sea and hill views. Beautiful 20 minutes amble down to the sea. On South West Coast Path Daily charges: £10.00 Adults, £6.00 Students, £3.00 Children - 4 and under free. Weekly rate: Pay for 6 and stay for 7 days. Dog exercise area, dogs £1. Electric hook-ups available - £5, please pre-book. We regret, access does not allow for towed caravans. Directions: We are located at Porlock just off the A39, which follows the picturesque Somerset coastline between Williton and Lynmouth. If approaching Porlock from Minehead, descend into the village and turn immediately right into Meadowhayes - the campsite is directly ahead of you at the end of this road. If approaching Porlock from Lynmouth, descend Porlock Hill and travel through the village, rounding the corner next to the church. Look for a small road on the left-hand side, Sparkhayes Lane. Turn in here and follow the winding road for a short distance until, at the junction with Meadowhayes, you see the campsite on your left. Amenities: There is so much to do near here for those who love fresh air and countryside. Boundless acres of Exmoor to explore, beaches and extensive woodlands, various National Trust properties and picture-postcard scenery including thatched cottages and pack-horse bridges. Cream tea heaven, with horse riding and golf a short distance away. Local attractions include the West Somerset Railway, Butlins, Exmoor Zoo and many more. Porlock is well equipped with cafes, restaurants and pubs, all reasonably priced, and our little harbour at Porlock Weir is well worth a walk. Stunning sunsets and abundant wildlife, a relaxed, friendly and extremely clean environment.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just come back from a really nice stay at Sparkhayes. This is definitely one of my favourite campsites. Lovely setting and views and yet only a minute's walk from Porlock High Street. We found the owner to be friendly and relaxed. The facilities were fine - a main shower/toilet block in the first field, and in the second field there are what initially look like portaloos but are actually proper bathrooms. The main shower block has an undercover seating area outside which is a nice touch. As for the grass - yes it was long as it has been raining for weeks, but the owner cut it as soon as it was dry. Maybe if you don't like wet feet then camping isn't for you...

Awful. Long grass and no thoroughfare meant getting soaking feet just walking to the shower block. Unfriendly greeting from owner/staff? Shower and loos tired and doors covered in dust. Best thing about it was being near Porlock town. Couldn't wait to leave.

Fabulous campsite! This is such a great spot- no fancy facilities but clean loos and showers, boiling hot water, and lovely and quiet. Just a few minutes walk into the village with nice pubs and shops, really laid back and comfortable. Will definitely be back again

Another great holiday came to an end. Third time back to this great little gem in Porlock, Phil always greets you with a smile. The campsite is kept clean and generally everyone obeys the 2300 quit time. The campsite is close to the pubs and local shops along with the views from our tent we will be back Sparkhayes

Covered seating area with sea view, bonus kettle/microwave, plenty of loos, 2 mins walk one way to shops, few mins the other way down to the salt marsh and back onto the Coast Path, very friendly and accommodating owner, and lovely fellow guests. Really well set-up site. Was very sorry only to be passing through and not staying longer. There are many much more expensive sites not offering half these amenities!

We visited our daughter and her partner who were staying at the site for a few nights. They asked on arrival if it was ok to barbecue and advised of visitors on Saturday afternoon for a birthday celebration, and no issues were raised. Today Saturday 9th July 2022 my wife and I arrived at the site and spoke to the owner before entering to ask if it was ok to proceed down to the campsite to where our daughter was pitched, he said yes that was fine. During the afternoon another 3 couples from our family arrived and parked at the top car park and walked down to the lower field and joined us for the birthday celebration. By about 6.00 pm the celebrations and barbecue were over and the guests had already in the majority left. At this point the owner came across and complained to

Large fields for camping. Grass was very long in the bottom field. Toilets only in the bottom field and showers and loos located in the top field. Only 2 showers but several loos in the women’s. Clean but basic. Very friendly bunch of campers, moho’s, tents and bikers. Sea views and right in the village walking distance to the pubs.

I have been coming here, off and on for over 20 years. It is basic but perfect. Everything just works. The owner, Phil, is a real gent. The showers are small, but wear shorts in, and hang them and your towel on the door. They won't get wet and then after your shower dry yourself down and put your shorts back on .

Just returned from a 7 night break here. We didn’t want a big site that was packed out. We were not disappointed. The toilets / showers are kept very clean and site is relaxed. The views are beautiful. Porlock village has everything you need! Big shout out to Phil the site owner, he is very friendly and accommodating. We Will return
