We’ve just returned from our stay in Rose Cottage. The cottages’ location is a perfect central base for exploring Exmoor and the views through the valley are gorgeous. There is no light or sound pollution which helps to make the holiday setting tranquil. The gardens around the cottages are a real asset and are well planted and maintained. We were able to walk our dogs through the owners fields which lead to a bridle path and you can walk to Wheddon Cross through the fields too. The cottage itself is perfectly equipped and cosy for most people’s needs. The owners have put everything in place they can to ensure the cottage is Covid secure. Everything was spotless inside and we felt very ‘safe’ and happy with their procedures. Their online guide app sent to you before arrival we found very useful and informative with up to date details of what to expect on arrival/departure , rules during these Covid times and recommendations of places to eat. We would absolutely recommend and will definitely return (soon hopefully!) Thank you for a lovely stay.

Katherine and Nick have done a magnificent job of renovating their 6 cottages to the highest standard of comfort. From the equipment they provide, the furnishings and layout it is clear that a lot of thought has gone into making their cottages work well for their clients. We were in Stable Cottage for 4 days in October and it rained continuously on each day! Nonetheless, Little Quarme is very well situated for exploring Exmoor and the information provided by our hosts enabled us to fill each day with interesting things to do and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was quick and easy to heat up on our return each day and our clothing soon dried out on the rack thoughtfully provided. The beds are comfortable, the layout of the cottage is spacious and allowed plenty of room for cooking, eating and relaxing. It is also well equipped, scrupulously cleaned and all welcome information crystal clear and helpful. We very much doubt there is a better place to stay on Exmoor.

Four of us stayed in Dunkery Cottage for a week at the end of July. With most of our holidays over recent years spent abroad it was an absolute delight to remind ourselves of the beautiful scenery and amazing countryside England has to offer: Our hosts were lovely and kept us informed of local walks and places to see on Exmoor: the cottage was very COVID-19 clean with everything you could possibly need. The local pub is walkable and we had lots of days out walking across the moor, woodland walks and days at the beach. You must visit the Tarr Steps and walk along the streams.

This is the second time we stayed in a Little Quarme Cottage and the experience was just as good as the first. The cottage was immaculately clean and the efforts Katherine and Nick put in to make the cottage safe for all was extraordinary. Even though the little comforts such as cushions and throws had to be removed for Covid-19 related reasons, the cottage remained welcoming and very much a home-from-home experience but with the spectacular scenery. Admittedly it rained a bit here & there but this did not really slow us down and we still managed to get around and enjoy the rugged beauty of Kilve Beach and of course Exmoor national park. We felt lucky to have been able to get away to somewhere so beautiful. Katherine & Nick are really passionate about creating the perfect holiday experiences for their guests. The cream tea on arrival is a lovely touch and makes you feel you are being looked after. Looking forward to a return visit in 2021.

Little Quarme is quite simply in one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed in the UK. It’s the sort of place where you jump out of bed each morning to open the curtains and admire the rolling hills that are picture postcard perfect.

We were in Rose Cottage for a week which was snug and cosy and a delight to return to each evening. The cottage had everything we needed and the quality and style of crockery, glassware etc made the holiday so special. We also slept very well on an extremely comfortable bed with lovely white, crisp linen.

Katherine & Nick, the hosts, obviously love the area and are so knowledgeable on everything from walks to pubs: we particularly liked the Little Quarme App which was useful when we were out and about.

Wheddon Cross was an unexpected delight too: whilst not being particularly chocolate box pretty it has a cosy pub with real fires, a fantastically stocked shop and a network of footpaths which you can never tire of. We were lucky enough to be there to see the area’s famous snowdrops which are easily accessible from Little Quarme. The cattle market is also an interesting feature.

We would recommend an evening visit to the ‘Rest and Be Thankful Inn’ which is walkable across footpaths with torches (thoughtfully supplied in the cottage). If you turn off the torches half way you can enjoy the full glory of Exmoor’s dark skies, absolutely spectacular on a starry night and even on a cloudy night the darkness is profound and quite magical.

This is a special spot. Beautiful views, lovely walks/ hikes and kind and generous hosts. Katherine and Nick served us homemade scones with cream and jam within hours of our arrival, gave us maps and suggestions of all kinds for what to see and do and left us in blissful peace. There is a game room if you take your kids, but could also be a romantic get away. Lovely vista from the little table and chairs out front. Clean and well equipped. My adult daughter and I had a simply wonderful few days there. I will surely return, if I have the chance. I am writing this review more than a year after the trip (2019) and the memories are still vivid. Go!

If you want a break that escapes the rat race, this is it. The cottages are set in an idylic, peaceful valley where you can't even hear traffic. This was our 3rd visit and we are never let down. We have come home with our batteries well and truly charged and are planning to return every 6 months. The cottages are excellently appointed with everything you need. The site is a mobile phone blackspot but you can hook up to the wifi and talk to people via whatsap. We chose not to to save getting spurious calls from people. Katherine and Nick are perfect hosts and are on hand to offer advice about the local area which is a godsend as there are many unknown places that are worth a visit.
The local pub, (The rest and be Thankful) is about 800 yds away and there is a good local shop/petrol station that is very well stocked. The pub is a proper country pub and on the Sunday we had a carvery which was excellent and very good value for money.
If you want to walk to the pub without walking down the road, (which has no pavement) you can walk across the fields and onto a bridle path that brings you out just by the shop.
I cannot speak too highly about Little Quarme. It is an absolutely beautiful part of the world and one that you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Thank you Katherine and Nick for another brilliant stay and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

Thank you very much for your lovely review - looking forward to seeing you again next year. For prospective guests looking at the review - we do get very good EE reception as there's a mast in the field at the top of the drive but if you're any other network then it's indeed a very cold spot!

5 days spent in paradise! What a beautiful place in the heart of Exmoor. Our cottage for 2 was perfect for us and our dog. It had everything I needed to cook lovely meals eating outside in our own flower filled little garden. This was so useful as there was somewhere the dog could be safely outside as the garden was fully fenced. Stunning views and beautiful walls from the door step make it such a special place and Nick and Catherine were such welcoming and attentive hosts. Thank you both for giving us such a special time.

Just made our third visit to Little Quarme and we have never been disappointed and we're booked in for next year already. We went with a group of friends, all dog owners. Apart from the wonderfully peaceful location, this is an ideal retreat for those with dogs as they have plenty of space to run freely and safely (dogs and owners!). The accommodation is comfortable and well equipped and the Copper Beach Room is ideal for group gatherings and activities on a rainy day. There's a decent pub and convenience store within walking distance. Looking forward to returning next year already.

we have just returned from a wonderful stay in Exford Cottage.
The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay from cream teas on arrival to a clean, tidy and well stocked kitchen, lounge area, bedroom and bathroom and a gated front garden.
The gardens were immaculately kept and the views were stunning; the whole site situated in the heart of Exmoor.
Our hosts, Nick and Kathrine were always on hand should we need them and the cottage contained a wealth of information on Exmoor, the walks and local amenities.
There was a local pub, convenience store and a small petrol station to hand
Dogs are allowed for a small fee and our small dog, Molly, enjoyed a whole field to run around in adjacent to the cottage.
These cottages are ideal for exploring the surrounding area being virtually situated in the middle of Exmoor.
We have returned on several occasions and will continue to do so in the future
For those who are looking for a high standard of accommodation in a tranquil setting and as a base for exploring Exmoor and the surrounding countryside, this is an ideal spot - highly recommend it.
