Our lovely Edwardian house in the heart of Exmoor National Park is also in the centre of a working village and it isn’t uncommon to see sheep being herded along the road outside. In 2017 the house was refurbished to enhance its original features, whilst maintaining its Edwardian character. The spacious rooms are all beautifully decorated & benefit from: Complimentary toiletries, tea tray, Smart TV, Superfast internet access, USB charging points, laptop safe & fridge. We are ideally situated to walk the Coleridge Way, visit the beaches of Minehead, Porlock & Blue Anchor & to enjoy the beauty of nearby attractions such as Tarr Steps, Lynton, Lynmouth, Wimbleball Lake & Dunster Castle. Exmoor is Europe’s first designated International Dark Skies Reserve & nearby Dunkery Beacon is a great place to star-gaze. Exmoor House is the perfect place to stay for Dunster by Candlelight and Snowdrop Valley.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Myself, my husband and our 4 boys booked a 5 day stay at Exmoor House. A lovely warm welcome greeted us on arrival. The rooms are beautifully decorated and lots of little extras were in the room/bathroom, even a fridge with fresh milk and chilled water. My boys love their food and breakfast was always fantastic. Austin and Teri were so accommodating a we thank them for making our holiday. Can't wait to go back.

Spent a lovely 5 nights in Exmoor House. They were extremely well organised when it came to safety of guests due to Covid19. Rooms are well eqipped with everything you need and were really clean and comfortable. Having your own mini fridge was a bonus. Dining room for breakfast was organised to ensure social distancing and there was an excellent choice for breakfast. Food was really good. Proprietors were warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. If you are thinking of stopping in Exmoor you cannot go wrong stopping at Exmoor House.
We really enjoyed it.

Had just the one night at Exmoor House as we walked the Coleridge Way with our dog Hector.
Austin & Teri were the ultimate hosts. The property is done to perfection - beautifully finished from the paintwork to the furnishings and decor.
The rooms are well appointed with everything a traveller could need and wish for.
Thank you for a most enjoyable stay Austin & Teri - you deserve every success.

That’s wonderful, thank you! We hope the rest of your walk was sunny and not too strenuous for Hector’s little legs. He is absolutely lovely and an extremely good boy 😉

We stayed in the Wordsworth room, which was clean, full of character and had a huge double bed. Breakfast was impressive with local produce including fantastic bacon and sausages from local farms. The owners, Austin and Teri, are charming, helpful and always had a smile. During the age of Covid their place was ultra clean, had sanitiser had entry and exit points and social distancing mealtimes. The area is just beautiful and we really enjoyed our time. Not only was it a place we intend to revisit but it meant a lot they accommodated our 3 month old baby.

We had 5 nights here to the beginning of Aug 2020 and felt so comfortable, our children cannot wait to return.
Our large family just about took up 2 of the rooms (Coleridge & Wordsworth) and the owners allowed for our every need, right down to fresh milk replenishment in the mini fridge, so we had tea & coffee whenever we wanted.
The room cleanliness and decor was second to none - couldn’t fault anything.
Lovely, lovely experience overall, with great value brekkie menu - a joy to wake up to everyday (you even get a choice of 2 time slots which is helpful if you want another hour in bed!

Thanks Austin & Terry - see you again very soon!!

I stayed at Exmoor House while walking the Coleridge Way. The owners were very friendly and happily greeted us. The room was very nice and comfortable, especially after a long day of walking. Tea, coffee and biscuits were available in the room which added an extra layer of comfort. Breakfast was good and catered well for our dietary requirements. The owners also advised us on where we could pick up the next part of the Coleridge Way the next morning which was helpful. Overall a good place to stay!

Fabulous B&B! My friend and I had a really lovely stay here. The hosts, Teri and Austin were so, so welcoming, lovely and gave us everything we needed, nothing was too much trouble. The room was immaculate with really nice decor, the tea and coffee in the room was really nice quality and the fresh milk they provide is a lot nicer than the UHT milks you’d usually get in other places. The biscuits in the room were a nice touch too.
The breakfast was absolutely delicious. I really would recommend staying here and couldn’t fault this B&B at all, I cannot wait to return. Thank you again!

What a beautiful place Exmoor House at Wheddon Cross is. The hosts have thought of absolutely everything and nothing is too much trouble for them. The house is fabulous with spacious, thoughtfully decorated rooms. Nothing has been forgotten. Plenty of tea, coffee etc in the room with milk and water in a small fridge replaced daily. Also a well stocked biscuit container as well as treats and poo bags for our dog! Some very useful toiletries were in the bathroom plus two bathrobes and two pairs of slippers. All far beyond our expectations. The large selection of items on the breakfast menu gave plenty of choice and was all delicious.
Opposite is a fabulous pub with friendly staff who serve excellent meals. Nearby is the Medieval town of Dunster - well worth a visit with a castle, coffee shops and quirky shops.

What a lovely review, thank you so much. Your stay seems like a lifetime ago, as we’ve been closed for nearly 2 weeks due to COVID19. But we’re not resting on our laurels, and have been making improvements to the car park, removing some old shrubs so that our guests have more room to manoeuvre. In the next few weeks we will be installing fans in two of the rooms and then giving each room a thorough clean. Hopefully, by the time we’ve completed all that there may be some signs of normality returning. Keep safe and see you again soon!

A lovely B&B with self catering facilities in the middle of Exmoor, great for exploring the surrounding area, we visited Minehead on our first day then Lynton and Lynmouth and the valley of the rocks on our second day followed by Woolacombe on the third stopping at the The White Horse Inn for dinner then a visit to Tar Steps to help walk off the fantastic venison pie meals. Super friendly hosts gave us a very warm welcome and introduced us to our suite, this had a great sitting room with kitchenette that had everything you could need including milk in the fridge and tea bags and coffee which was great as we had forgotten ours, the bedroom was immaculate with super white bed linen. I couldn’t recommend this venue highly enough we will definitely be re visiting. Thank you for a great stay, Chris and Sue from Bristol.
