We booked 2 nights for September, unfortunately the rooms , whilst pleasant enough had beds that were almost impossible to sleep,on. So uncomfortable. I only managed 2.5 hours sleep. My family 4 hours. Terrible. We ate on the Friday evening which was ok. What was really shocking was the attitude. I complained about the beds and was told I was the only complaint. ( see other reviews ) I commented about the vat benefit not being passed on, lack of breakfast despite full charge. All this was met by an attitude from the owner that suggested that he was owed it because of lockdown and lack of business. And the insistence that I had to pay the bill in full. Stunning, I run a business and have survived through it, by hard work. Not by abusing my customers. Avoid, they don’t deserve your custom. There are better just down the road. See my other reviews. I don’t like leaving negative as I don’t believe in negative. But sometimes, honesty however brutal is needed.

The accommodation at The Mason's was lovely, I particularly liked the fact that our room was detached from the pub and that I could park the car right outside, making carrying bags back and forth a breeze. The weather was awful much of the time, so it really helped. The publican was a very pleasant person and the locals were a friendly lot too. We met friends for dinner and we all had fish and chips. It was very well cooked and was good value. We had our family dog with us, this presented no problem and there were plenty of places to walk within a short distance of the pub.

The room was booked for two nights and was pleasant in itself. A long time since I had a tv that small. Not very easy to see from the bed. Sadly the mattress was cheap and very poor and although we managed some sleep it was very uncomfortable. We had no breakfast on the first morning as the milk in the fridge was off. Strange because the fridge was more than adequately cold. We had breakfast on the second morning. We found it a bit odd to have a cold breakfast (cereals) as the restaurant was apparently open and a cooked breakfast would have been a significant improvement. When we left the Landlord was off site at the Cash & Carry............not an issue BUT when I rang to pay by card I was staggered to learn that he was still charging the SAME price of £90 per room per night including VAT @ 20% when he should have been charging £75 plus VAT @ 5% , total £78.75 overcharging us by £22.50 for the 2 nights. I thought the Chancellor of the Exchequer cut the VAT to encourage people to stay in hotels and B&Bs

Just back from a special birthday weekend at The Masons Arms and what a lovely time we all had. A very warm welcome from the owners Simon and Aimee, clean and comfortable accommodation and we very much enjoyed our evening meal, all beautifully cooked and ample portions. The pub is well situated to explore the North Somerset coast and village and castle at Dunster is well worth a visit. A tasty breakfast set us up the long journey home!
