Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

A really lovely B&B, everything done so well and with the most friendly, helpful hosts. Anna and Michael are very welcoming and happy to offer useful recommendations for local sights and places to eat. Excellent food, the breakfasts are just great. Perfect for a quiet West Country break.

Simply put, this is the best place I have stayed in for many a year. The location is beautiful and the gardens are simply breathtaking. The room was first class and the breakfast alone was worth the cost of the room. But the best part of the stay were our hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were informative and entertaining. Can't wait to return.

Woodford House is an extremely comfortable BnB; clean sheets, very comfortable beds, hearty breakfasts and friendly hosts (including Anna's cute father) - my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Furthermore, the house is beautiful. Very well-kept and cosy! Perfect for a countryside getaway. You'll still need a car to get around from this BnB - but to be fair you would need a car to get anywhere at all in the countryside.

Highly recommended!

Usually coach drivers get the worst rooms going, not in this B&B, I was in the EXMOOR room, window faced the garden, lovely garden, although just a small hamlet with very few buildings the road is quite busy, as a field study centre is just a short distance away, which is were the group I had brought were staying, Anna and Michael were fantastic hosts, and the other guests were regulars, on arrival obviously filled out a registration form, and there was also another form with what you would like for breakfast and what time you would like breakfast, everything you could possibly want was on that list, Anna asked if I had to go out early at any point so she could ensure I was fed before I left, one of the guest was going early fishing, so he had a good brekkie before he left, the room was bright and clean, and had tea, coffee, chocolate in abundance, and biccies, which were replenished every day,
on-suite had loo wash basin and a shower, with dove handwash at the sink and dove showergel in the shower, no shampoo though, the only thing I didn't like was the shower had a curtain across the entrance, rather than as door, but it was a good shower water pressure wise, so that didn't really matter, it is an old house, and was furnished with antique furniture so decor was very much in keeping with the building,
I would recommend this B&B if you want a very peaceful nights sleep, there are no street lights to intrude into your dreams, and if you want to explore the steam railway it is perfectly positioned for many stations, although there is not a pub in the 'village, the is one in Monksilver, about a mile away, I walked it across the fields on a foot path, word of warning if you do footpaths... the soil is red, and stains clothes, so watch bottoms of track suits.

Stayed here last month what a fantastic place. The rooms was beautiful with a slight upgrade to the furniture this would be a five star bedroom. The bed was very very comfortable. The breakfast was great, homemade organic apple juice !! Was sat at table with other guest putting me completely out of my comfort zone but made all the guest converse which further increased the feeling of staying with family. The house is very much in the sticks and I had no mobile signal throughout the stay but wifi worked in room and the garden. This was fantastic value for money , I stay in lots and lots of b&bs and hotels and this was a real gem. local pub nearby which is nice but the food wasn't great nearby the mason arms was much better for food in my opinion.
If you need to get away from it all then go here I would be very surprised if your unhappy

We stayed here for two nights and it was our first stay away from home with our 8 month old daughter. Our hosts, Michael & Anna couldn't have been more accommodating. Although we arrived way after our scheduled arrival time, due to traffic on the M4, they greeted us like seasoned guests and made us immediately feel at ease. When our inlaws arrived earlier than planned the following day to stay with us, again they made them feel incredibly welcome.

The rooms we booked were beautiful old style farmhouse bedrooms and were lovely. The breakfasts too were fantastic and the personal touch that you get staying in a country guesthouse was excellent. Our daughter was given cuddles from Anna while we had a hearty breakfast each day!

If you stay here you'll receive a warm west country welcome, have a most comfortable stay and have a hearty breakfast each day. It's a great place to stay and very good value.

We stayed here for the weekend as my son was taking part in a Downhill Mountain Bike race a few miles away. The weather was wet so coming back to this wonderful B&B was a delight each evening. Anna and Mike are the most wonderful hosts and truly made our stay memorable. The Breakfasts are wonderful (just don't tell my wife). I am so glad to have found this gem, we will be back.

I would heartily recommend this charming, efficiently run B&B to anyone staying nearby or even if they just want an overnight stop on a long motorway journey, as we did.
The journey in question turned into one of those midsummer M5 nightmares and Anna took pity on us and made us a fantastic cream tea the moment we arrived. It was a great welcome and instantly the stresses of the journey fell away.
We were all delighted by the large and attractive room we were given with its antique furniture.
We live a very long way from Woodford House - in Spain - but if we didn't I'm sure we'd be staying here regularly.

We selected Woodford House for a two-day stay near the West Somerset Railway after seeing their advert in the Heritage Railway Magazine. We were particularly interested in the offer of a "free" day rover ticket on the WSR for per two-day stay - which we did take advantage of. We placed our booking from New Zealand well in advance which, unfortunately, was "lost" by their computer. However, Anna quickly made arrangements for our stay with the very kind understanding and cooperation of another guest. Anna and Michael are charming and friendly hosts who provide a wealth of useful advice on local attractions, eateries and sights. We dined well at a local gastropub where meals were most reasonably priced - and enormous! The premises are early Victorian, and are decorated in theme with many items of early Great Western Region Railway memorabilia throughout the rooms. Breakfast was delicious - the usual full English with variations on the theme, but local and home-make produce featuring strongly. Anna's home-made Seville marmalade was absolutely delicious and we bought a jar to enjoy back in NZ! Our holiday in England was enhanced by staying here - and a few similar places we had "discovered" - and we would have no hesitation in recommending Woodford House to anyone wanting a short stay in this area.

Being a hotel hater, I have stayed in lots of lovely B & Bs and this is the best of the lot, especially in terms of value for money. It's a lovely old house with a beautiful garden and Anna and Michael are perfect hosts, who ensure that breakfast is a special occasion. Anna might grumble if you ask for your eggs poached, but it's all part of her lively humour. In order to work up an appetite for breakfast a walk up to Nettlecombe Court is highly recommended. It makes the eggs (poached or scrambled) and the homemade jams taste all the better.
