To visit Alton Towers, of course? Yes we dropped the youngsters off at A/ Towers & spent a day rambling in Dimming Dale which was lovely. Accommodation in No1 was good, 1 double bedroom and 1 bedroom with a double bed and bunk bed so sleeps 6. We had 2 adults & 2 teenagers so there was plenty of room....

Lower Micklin Farm was an excellent find by my husband, it's located 5 minutes drive from Alton Towers Resort, we stayed in cottage 1 that can accomodate 8 people, it is very welcoming and spotlessly clean, has everything you need for self catering, comfy beds and lovely shower, the surroundings are beautiful, with beautiful views, and there's sheep and chickens...

Amazing views and great facilities. Nice warm showers and clean toilet blocks. Very close to the town centre, everything you need is nearby. Will definitely stay again. Loads to do in Alton without visiting the theme park.

Great place to stay in the area! The location of the site is just a short walk from loads of woodlands and farms as well as a simply astonishing view where you can see for miles (you can even see the flag tower at Alton Towers). Overall great value for money and very relaxing (or lively - make your own...

Stayed as a family of 4 in a camper van. The pitches were all electric hook up and extremely spacious. I thought the cost was also very reasonable. The owners were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for you. The toilet facilities were exceptionally clean with plenty of toilets/showers for the number of campers. There is a nice little play...

The facilities are clean. They have a lovely family shower room for when your with the kids. There is a gate with a barrier to get in and out so you feel secure. There is space between pitches so you don't feel on top of each other. It's a wonderful campsite. Cant wait to come back!

There were a group of 7 of us and besides being drawn by the location (5 minutes drive from Alton Towers) and the very reasonable cost, it was a farm. There were chickens and roosters wandering right outside the accommodation in the daytime, we were opposite a field full of sheep and a very energetic and playful sheepdog. Although we...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lower Micklin Self Catering Accommodation is set in 10 acres of grassland allowing plenty of room for children to play in safety. Half of a mile outside Alton village and five minutes drive from Alton Towers, Lower Micklin Holiday Cottages are also situated at the edge of the Peak District and a few miles from Uttoxeter racecourse. All our lodges are self contained, spacious and well appointed. Each cottage has its own fully equipped kitchen area, large shower room, and lounge/dining area with colour TV and dvd player. Centrally heated and double glazed, they are warm and comfortable whatever the weather. All towels and linen are provided. Unlike most self catering facilities, we happily accept guests for short periods allowing you to visit Alton Towers, rest overnight and move on to the next part of your holiday, or alternatively, stay a few days more and visit some of the other local places of interest. Guests are welcome to make use of the spacious outside facilities including climbing frame, swings, ball game field with goalposts and walking paths. Barbeque facilities, including fuel, are available on request. This outdoor space makes our cottages a great alternative to hotels near Alton Towers or the Alton Towers Enchanted Village Lodges. ... more   less
