Dovecliff Hall Hotel is celebrated by many for its exceptional value and the much-applauded full English breakfast. Guests frequently commend the establishment for its spotless, spacious rooms and the cordial atmosphere fostered by festive decor and live music. While the service is generally hailed as friendly and professional, there are occasional inconsistencies noted at breakfast. The amenities, including rooms with scenic views and high-quality food, receive high marks, although some guests suggest the rooms could benefit from modernization. What an amazing day !
A perfect setting -Dovecliff is a beautiful building.A perfect room - we were in the drawing room where the sun shone through the beautiful Georgian windows .
We were celebrating mums 80th birthday and from the moment she entered the building to the beautiful music being played on the grand piano she felt very special. There were 26 of us including young children and we all felt very welcome and the service could not be faulted. There were crisp white linen cloths, sparkling clean glasses, the room was heated and there was wonderful attention to detail from start to finish. The food was well presented and everyone enjoyed their various meals. We would not hesitate to book this venue again.

A friend and I stayed here last night and had a superb time! We received a very warm and friendly welcome from the ladies on reception which continued from all members of stay throughout the stay. Our room was large, airy, absolutely spotless and had patio doors onto a stunning riverside view. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and both the service and the food were faultless - massive credit to the chef and his team (I was most upset I couldn't squeeze in a pud). We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, either for a stay and/ or a restaurant visit.

We are so pleased we found this gem of a country hotel [booked so we could visit the National Memorial Arboretum]. The large bedroom was clean and comfortable with views over the wonderful garden - our only issue was the heat as the sun poured in through the large window - and the bottled water was appreciated. The young staff were friendly, helpful and hardworking; pre-ordered breakfast was fine and dinner even better.

A most lovely house with beautiful gardens perfectly located for our family occasion where a group of 10 of us (aged between 8 and 70+ plus a dog - pre-arranged and permitted in one of the bedrooms) gathered for a birthday celebration. The bedrooms were of high quality being large, well equipped, nicely decorated with comfortable beds. We enjoyed afternoon tea as a group on our own in the good sized and cosy Library and a very nice evening meal in the pleasant and warm Conservatory room, where we also enjoyed a diverse range of cooked breakfasts in the morning with pleasing views over the grounds. The whole team at Dovecliff Hotel made it a particularly memorable occasion, with their friendly and personal touch looking after our every need and request. This really made the difference in giving us the quality experience we shall remember.

We stayed for three nights over Christmas, along with one of our daughters. Our younger daughter joined us on Christmas Day for an excellent, immaculately presented lunch beautifully cooked and served in very pleasant surroundings, enhanced by tasteful Festive decorations. Guests were wonderfully entertained by an extremely accomplished pianist in the bar area. This was our first Christmas away from home and we’ll definitely be repeating the experience. The hotel was warm and welcoming and the staff are friendly and well trained. There isn’t a lift, but help with luggage is available. We had an issue with hot water in our shower…a thermostat problem, I think. While inconvenient it didn’t detract from our enjoyment and our final bill reflected this hiccup. Thank you to all at the hotel who’s hard work was greatly appreciated. We wish you a Happy, healthy 2022.

A group of seven of us were booked in for two nights and our first impressions of this elegant Georgian house were good. Our en suite room was a good size but it was immediately noticeable that a) there were no tissues in the room or bathroom and b) no telephone. The first issue was solved by going down to reception however, the second could not be and we were concerned that should someone (especially if staying on their own) feel unwell and need to contact reception, there was no way of doing so.

None of us had a good night's sleep partly because the room was extremely warm despite having all three windows open and the heating off ( unseasonable weather) and secondly, because the super king size bed was too hard for our liking. In addition, there was a constant 'hum' from a machine which we could not find to stop it.

Breakfast was served in the delightful orangery however, sitting seven around a table really meant for six was cramped and very restricting but we were given no other options. There was only one server on duty and he was exceedingly dilatory. Not once did he ask if we needed anything ( other than taking our order) and, he failed to notice the jug of orange was soon emptied (so had to be asked to refill it on three occasions), that we quickly ran out of butter and milk and, we were given a basket of toast which contained a mere four half slices so we had to repeatedly ask for more. The 'piece de resistance' came when one of our group asked for porridge followed by a plate of scrambled egg and smoked salmon and they were both brought at the same time!! The young and very inexperienced server failed to acknowledge that the scrambled egg would be cold by the time our friend had finished her very hot bowl of porridge, so he had to be asked to return it to the kitchen to keep it warm. We were very surprised that this issue even occurred unless the chef was very inexperienced too or had not been properly informed ??

On our second morning we had a deadline to meet so we had already decided to have breakfast half an hour earlier than the day before but we still ended up having to rush the eating process rather than enjoy it at our leisure; this again was caused by the lethargic attitude of the server and possibly his lack of communication with the chef? We were further delayed when we came to check out at reception as the system seemed to take forever due to an apparently slow internet connection.

It is our understanding that the hotel is now under new management so it is inevitable that there will be a few glitches however, this was not our greatest hotel experience. There seemed to be a distinct lack of staff professionalism; they all had a smiley face and pleasant manner but lacked efficiency and competence. It's the little things like no tissues in the room that 'niggle' guests and we would seriously suggest you install telephones in all rooms as they could literally be a life saver in a time of need.

We have highlighted several areas where there is room for improvement however, with a few tweaks, we believe you will have a delightful building which offers a first class service to its guests every time.

We recently had our much delayed and re-arranged wedding at this beautiful venue which was spectacular from the interior to the exterior. It was so surreal - the whole experience was beyond our expectations.

We booked a number of rooms for the night before for the groom and some guests.

There was a music tribute night on the Friday night and the staff accommodated us by providing us with exclusive use of the library room for our privacy, including dining and the remaining evening.

On the day of our wedding, staff ensured a perfectly smooth event. We had exclusive use of the whole hotel and grounds, enabling guests to arrive earlier and relax in a beautiful environment. The grounds are well-maintained in addition to the immaculate high standard of the rooms. The bridal suite exceeded our expectations with an amazing view of the grounds.

Our gratitude to Luke, Ruth and the team and in particular to the chef who mastered the perfection of gluten free pastry. The guests have commented on how spectacular the food was in addition to the venue.

We thank you for making our day sooooo amazing and look forward to visiting you all again.

Had a three night break for relaxation. Superior double room was spacious and comfortable, nicely decorated. Very comfortable king-size bed and large tv. Some plumbing noise from adjacent room. Nice view over countryside.
Good choice of food on dinner menu, good quality, reasonably priced food (don't opt for meal package as you may not want three courses every time!) Fairly good selection for pre-order breakfast. Service was very good, bit too eager to seat you in the dining room if you are trying to enjoy pre-dinner drink in the bar!
Staff are all friendly and helpful.
The grounds are lovely and well kept. I think it would be a great wedding venue.

We stayed for one evening before travelling on to my parents. We arrived and were immediately made welcome, I couldn't remember my car registration so they kindly found it on the cctv, which was welcome as it was raining badly. We had drinks in the bar prior to dinner, the staff were so attentive, extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Dinner was well presented and tasty, so was breakfast, again with very lovely staff. We booked a room which allowed dogs but ended up not taking the dog, the room was nice and clean, we may have booked an upgraded room if we had realised we weren't taking the dog but there was nothing wrong with the room we had.
Beautiful gardens, ample car parking, all in all a very pleasant stay, would definitely stay there again.

We have stayed here before, but due to ruined plans (Covid) decided to come back. Not disappointed. A "cosy" room, but warm, clean, well appointed and a nice roomy bathroom. Our last minute booking gave no room for plans, so we ate in the restaurant - it was lovely. Dinner was delicious and excellent value and the teenagers who waited table were attentive but not clingy. There may be cheaper B&B's but this is a private quiet hotel that is good value, in a convenient location with lovely grounds if the sun is shining. I will book again.
