What a lovely hotel. We had an accessible room with french windows leading to a terrace with views over the River Dove. The ensuite was ideal for me - it was stylish (many accessible bathrooms feel functional rather than elegant) but practical. I'm not sure whether it would suit someone who is confined to a wheelchair, as there was limited space next to the toilet, but for me it was perfect. The room was spacious and comfortable, and on a freezing cold night the hotel felt warm and snug. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a lovely stay.

Beautiful and elegant Georgian house set in acres of beautiful countryside! The house has a wonderful feel to it. Very elegant, but not at all over the top. Lovely, large comfortable rooms and the food is incredible! Very friendly, efficient staff do everything in their power to help make your stay memorable. We were there for a big birthday weekend. Our main waitress (Emilia I think) was wonderful and looked after us perfectly! She worked very hard and had a smile on her face from start to finish! Debbie handled the organisation of the whole weekend wonderfully.

Sunday lunch with my wife. Everything could not have been better. We ate in the orangery overlooking the gardens, it was a dull December day, but the outlook was excellent. The food, service and ambience were superb, even a grand piano playing in the background, very pleasant and not obtrusive. Will definitely e going again soon!

What a great team are running this gorgeous hotel. We stayed twice in Oct I hadn't been near the Dovecliffe in 35 years but the first overnight stay was superb . We called again when organising Mum's funeral and the staff couldn't have been any more helpful , we organised the wake to take place at the hotel and managed to book the first 2 nights there but they had no room availablilty for the night of the funeral or the night after. The staff assured us they would keep working on finding us rooms for the last 2 nights (whilst we booked elsewhere just in case ). The team worked with my wife to arrange an afternoon selection of sandwiches and cake which was available after the cremation. The wake was so well catered for and the "buffet" was better than many actual meals served elsewhere. Not all was eaten as so much was produced but the staff were very helpful in providing boxes for take homes of cakes etc Now enough of the wake etc but we were found rooms by the team and as such stayed for 4 nights in total and how well were we looked after ! It was excellent , from breakfast in the Orangery to the superb evening meals served in the same location. We are both foodies and found every single dish we ordered was tasty , fresh and exactly the sort of meal we hoped for . Service in the bar was exemplary and staff looked after us so well, I can't stress this enough that we were genuinely looked after by everybody , reception , bar and restaurant staff , cleaning team and management . . every single person made those 4 days worth every penny . I told the team I would leave an honest review of the hotel and well here it is . . Absolutely flipping superb , there was nothing we wanted for at all . . thank you

Our second visit to the hotel was just as enjoyable as the first. This is a really well run establishment with comfortable rooms, helpful staff and quite incredible food. In fact the food really does deserve another mention. The chef has put together a varied and interesting menu which is such a pleasant change from the standard fare now being served up by so many restaurants. If all that wasn't enough the hotel is also in such a lovely setting. Our meals were taken in the orangery from where there are views across the formal gardens to the fields beyond. Sprinkle in peacocks and ornamental chickens wandering around the grounds and our dining experience took on an almost surreal quality. Things to change ? Nothing springs to mind.

As always a great reception experience, made to feel very welcome. Room was great everything you could want home from home, great views. Everything was clean and tidy as you would expect. Had dinner in the restaurant again food and service was excellent. I will be looking to take the wife there at some stage for a couple of nights. Woke refreshed and a hearty breakfast was delicious.

This is a well managed professionally run hotel in a lovely setting. The restaurant food is as good as anything I’ve experienced in recent times. Perfection on a plate and that’s from someone who moans about everything (I’m told). We were fortunate to stay the night of a Southern Italian wine pairing evening and dinner. Absolutely amazing four courses with a different wine for each course! They do these type of events quite often so do check them out as they are a very good evening and well worth the money. Staff are very professionally trained, courteous and genuinely customer focused. Always on top of things and very efficient when booking in, cleaning the room or waiting in the restaurant. Our room had a view over the river and countryside which was absolutely stunning. Real English countryside that made the whole stay so relaxing. Peacocks roam the gardens and can be seen from the conservatory breakfast restaurant every morning. An absolute delight to see. The room itself was more than comfortable and very clean. The bed was extra wide too so no problems sleeping. I know this all sounds too good to be true but our stay could not be bettered. Certainly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Well done to everyone at Dovecliffe. Keep it up!

Overall an excellent 3 nights stay. Impressed with the creative menu for dinner which was included in the package. Very good choices and resulted in three nights of excellent food. As a bottle of house wine was included in the package each night, I was dubious as to what quality would be available. However, my doubts were unfounded as the wine choice available to me was very good and highly quaffable! The staff were friendly and efficient and the stay went without hitches. Room comfortable, bed splendid and A return visit may well be on the cards, as floods prevented us from visiting some of the towns in Derbyshire that we had on the agenda.
