We were geocaching in the area, and asked if we could park in the car park. The licensee kindly gave us permission, and once we had done our walk, we came in for a drink. Nice local pub with local ale that comes from down the street!

We travelled over for a family wedding, liaising with Nikki. Quite simply, the most welcoming, friendly place we have stayed. I emailed Nikki well beforehand to arrange a taxi over to Hoar Cross hall (wedding venue), so I could partake in the usual wedding pleasantries, but instead she arranged a lift over to and back from the wedding, and would...

Hi! Thank you so much for the great review! We hope you enjoyed the wedding, Hoar Cross is a fantastic venue, we're lucky it's so close, perfect for a relaxing spa day also (Hint hint!) ;) . Hopefully for your next visit back to Burton you'll have time to visit some local attractions too. All the best, Nikki & Brian

As a single business woman, I like to be careful where I stay and I chose this inn because of its reviews and I like to support local businesses. I found The Shoulder of Mutton absolutely superb! The room was clean and well provided, the bed was comfortable and the shower was very powerful. I was made to feel welcome...

Friendly staff; clean, quiet room in the eaves (steep stairs) with quality linen. Choice of cereals, yogurts and fruit followed by choice of cooked items for breakfast with good service. Traditional food available for evening meals and large car park just outside of pub for your car. Good value for money.

Hi! Thank you so much for your review, we hope we provided everything you needed, We're sorry you found the stairs steep, but they are actually standard size tread & height :) . It may have just seemed that way with ascending into the roofspace. We hope all of the other aspects of your stay were to your liking &...

I stayed in this simple, yet high quality B & B and found it to be clean and comfortable. The evening meal was excellent as was breakfast. The staff were friendly and I very much enjoyed my stay. I recommend it highly.

Lovely village pub we stumbled upon for a drink. Very welcoming, lovely friendly staff/people. Could see play area out back for children but not uses this time. Didn't eat, but food looked and smelt beautiful, and prices seem reasonable.

We needed an overnight stay in this area and chose the Shoulder of Mutton because of its good reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed. Friendly welcoming staff. Very efficient bar service. The room was fine with a very comfortable bed and good wifi access. The shower worked but the shower support was broken. I'm sure this will be...

Hi, Thanks for the great review, We're glad you enjoyed your stay, you are very right, the shower support is now sorted, a very naughty wall plug not doing it's job properly! It's great that you enjoyed our breakfasts, all our meats are supplied by our local butcher, the eggs are laid just down the road on a neighbouring farm...

A lovely place to stay in a wonderful setting. It was so quiet made a change as we live in a city. There is nothing to say that isn't perfect. Food, room, everything. There's certainly plenty to do in the area if you wish to re-book, a day at Alton Towers, Cannock Chase, Shopping in Lichfield City or even a relaxing day at Hoar Cross Day Spa, all within 10 miles :) . Fantastic breakfast and hosts! We stayed here whilst visiting the National Memorial Arboretum. Lovely comfy bed and breakfast at a time of our choosing. Duck eggs available with the breakfast - they were lovely. We also had an evening meal on one of the nights which was lovely. Had a drink in the bar on both evenings and enjoyed the...
