This was a business stay and there is nothing good to say about this hotel - other than its location. Avoid The Lakeside Continental Hotel at all costs! The hotel is dirty, old and very shabby. The lodges are cold and a health hazard, they are more like a squat. The staff are very rude and unhelpful. They openly admit... More

Stayed here for a few days with work. Night receptionist not friendly. Second night was left standing outside as they lock the door so couldn't get into the hotel for ten mins despite buzzing, calling and knocking. It was only 11pm. Room was gross, the door nearly came off its hinges as it was so hard to lock and unlock,... More

I was pretty disappointed when I first saw the reception area which was very old fashioned, and even more so when I went up to my room - the first thing I noticed was the paint peeling around the door frame and the next was a strong smell of cigarette smoke - yuk! The room itself was very clean and... More

Recommended ! 10 mins from Farnborough airshow Ricardo was a star on the bar ️Lovely Scottish lady who seemed to be there ️Morning, noon and night! Great comfy beds in the Continental hotel. old fashioned hotel, everything quite old and worn out, for breakfast you need to walk over the street to another hotel. but quiet, internet allright. what i really don't understand is that some hotels in this country still don't know that warm/cold water is able to run from the same water-tab.

I stayed one night in room 355 at the last minute due to a transport delay. The decor is very dated (see photos) but the bathroom and room were clean and the bed was comfortable, so no complaints on that basis. They had decent free WiFi too which was a bonus. Due to an early start the following morning I... More

Can't really say to much apart from awful. It's like going back in time, the decor is dated in the rooms and the reception and the bar area. Booked a king size bed but when I went to bed I found out that it was to singles pushed together and so you have the inevitable groove down the centre. So... More

A mixed bag, to be fair... Plus points: quiet, plenty of parking, spacious room, iron and ironing board, good shower, shoe-polish machine in stairwell and king-size bed. Minus points: random gurgles every 5 minutes from the radiator, mind-numbing hummmmm from bathroom extractor fan, uncomfortable bed (ibis/premier much better), pillows smelt somewhat unwashed (numerous previous visitors' heads made their past occupancy... The hotel is a little dated and the staff, although helpful when asked, were not forthcoming in providing service. However the room was very comfortable and clean. It was warm, with a personal air-con/heater in each room enabling an ambient temperature. The breakfast was as you would expect. Tea and coffee were served, and extra when asked. Toast was also... Opened by Baroness Thatcher in 2001 as the rather creepy portraits in reception remind you, and presumably left unchanged since as a tribute to her. Creepy belligerent staff, clean beds in grubby rooms with highly defective plumbing, cold, radiators don't work, 'double' might be a double or could be a twin. I won't be back. Tired old place full of... More
