Travellers' Choice
Beautiful architecture in park-like setting near Gatwick Airport hidden away in the Surrey countryside - newly refurbished and full of original features and uninterrupted views to the far distant Surrey hills. Only ten minutes from London/Gatwick Airport but NOT on a flight path, so it's very peaceful and tranquil here.Stroll down to our lovely Amphitheatre and Walled Garden - A great start to any trip

We picked this hotel because the location looked lovely which it was. Upon arrival we waited 15 minutes for a drink at the bar. There were 4 men there who laughed with me saying you'll get used to it. After going to reception and a conference room we found the barman who didn't even apologise, just walked round and finally served us. For dinner the burger had sauce on it we didn't ask for, the waitress apologised although we could hear them all laughing when she walked out with it. When they brought it back the bun was burnt and rock hard so asked for the curry instead. It is store-bought and the same microwave curry they serve at Wetherspoons except this was £12.50. The young man who collected the plates confirmed it was microwaved. The desserts were frozen and they didnt offer any complimentary drinks, it was i who suggested desserts were on the house considering youve just charged us £50.00 for 4 x microwaved curries. The rooms were filthy. Our toilet hadn't been cleaned, cobwebs everywhere, insects in the shower and fire alarms are in the centre of the rooms with the light flashing throughout the night led to a sleepless night but at least we didn't have to worry about missing the alarm. We left our car on site for 10 days at a reasonable price and with no issues but will not be coming back that's for sure. Room only was £75 thanks to booking.com discount so ultimately I guess you could say you get what you pay for. Thankfully we were so excited about our holiday and big fans of Fawlty Towers we didnt kick up a fuss at the time- plus our cars were going to be left there for 11 days.

We booked the hotel via holidayextras website as it came up as quite close to Gatwick Airport and was good value for money and included parking for the duration of our trip abroad. The building seemed quite impressive, but our stay was disappointing. We paid an extra £20 for a ‘superior room’. We saw on their website that they have some lovely looking unique rooms and had hoped that we would get one of them by paying the extra. Instead, we got a small, cheap room. I would ADVISE AGAINST paying the £20 extra as I doubt you’ll get any different room. Our room was dirty, the bed sheets were stained and there were hairs in the bathroom (as if someone had shaved their legs). The hotel had left our windows open, which means that our room was full of flying insects!!! There is no air conditioning in the hotel, so our room got quite hot. The walls are paper thin. I could hear every conversation from next door and all of the noisy guests in the corridors. We didn’t enjoy our stay here at all! The check in process took 10 minutes longer than it needed to! Our hotel stay felt very sleezy and seemed more suited as a dirty weekend away as opposed to a hotel to get a decent night sleep before a day of travelling.

On lead up to the event they couldn't have been more helpful - I had a bbq themed party and we ate in the Orangery, which is a beautiful room very airy and has it's own bar attached. The food was delicious, and plentiful. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating when we were setting up, and were friendly and polite all night even when it got late. The table decorations and presents were all carefully put in an adjoining room so we could pack it all in the car at our leisure. I stayed overnight, as did some of my guests so I sampled the wonderful breakfast the next morning. One guest commented on how nice the pastries were, I particularly enjoyed the cooked breakfast (the bacon) and we were left to chat and have a very leisurely breakfast. The Hotel itself is lovely inside with a wonderful staircase going to the rooms. Thank you to all the staff for looking after us so well.

Stayed at the hotel for a five night staycation. It was absolutely wonderful from start to finish . The staff are all amazing such a credit to the hotel . Breakfast and dinner was delicious and plenty of it . We also had the afternoon tea which was also delicious. The room we stayed in was lovely , very spacious and the bed was very comfy. We really can't wait to return as it was such a relaxing break in such stunning surroundings.

Very welcoming and obliging receptionist who sorted out a taxi to the airport without any fuss. Nice sized room with very high ceilings (wonder if that may make the room cold in winter?) with a modern, well-appointed bathroom en suite. Outside looks like a Tudor mansion so I wonder if anything will go.bump in the night (NOT THAT! Sorry, they are noisy in the cheap seats at the back 😂)
