We booked this 5 days before arrival and did not have high expectations as it was cheap and available which in the current covid climate is hard to come by especially during school holidays. Anyway we booked a 2 bedroom per friendly Sturt lodge, although we did not take the dogs with us this was all there was left. The lodge was extremely clean and well kept with what looked like fairly newly fitted out bathroom and well equipped kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and lovely large white bath sheets and hand towels for each person. The kitchen has sealed dish cloth & washing up liquid, new for each guests arrival, and the cleaning staff did a fab job of sanitising each lodge when guests left. They literally took everything out and cleaned everything in site. They were like a plague of locusts descending as soon as it was empty in their blue T-shirt’s but very quiet and considerate. Could not fault the site, there is nothing to do on site and reception is closed so no on site shop either. The only rather odd thing I would say was the fact that being pet friendly as opposed to dog friendly did mean that one family bought 2 cats with them for the weekend. I have never seen this before on a holiday but did not bother us. Very handy having the pub next door and we visited the sculpture park down the road. There are so many lovely places to walk and villages to visit that I am sure we will return.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review of your stay at Tilford Woods Lodge Retreat. We are so please you enjoyed your stay and were happy with the level of cleanliness and extra precautions taken in the current situation with covid, i will be sure to pass on your lovely comments to the cleaning teams. I apologise the shop was closed during your stay, we have re-assessed this and are now open, however due to the small space it is very difficult to socially distance in our shop/reception, so we have taken the decision that guest will not be allowed in the shop, but are able to request what they need from the shop at the table just outside reception and ask that everyone pays by card and of course someone is available 24/7 on the phone. Yes it is an odd one for us to have cats, this is not something we normally allow as we have a large duck population on site, however permission was asked as they were emotional support animals and had harnesses for outside. The duke of Cambridge is a lovely pub and they serve some wonderful food, im so pleased you took advantage of the local area and made a trip to the sculpture park, there are some weird and wonderful things to see there. We hope you will be back again soon for another wonderful stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights for our anniversary after our trip to Paris was cancelled. More expensive then some other places I looked at but after reading the reviews we decided to book. Slightly later check in due to covid but it did not bother us as we had planned a day out anywhere. Could park next to our lodge and it was very clean and had a very cosy feel to it, it was gorgeous! They provided a small washing up liquid, cloth, sponge, teatowel and a few dishwasher tablets. Was slightly disappointed that no tea/sugar was provided even just a few bags as this has been provided at other lodges we had stayed at and we did not bring any with us, not a huge problem as we bought some the next day so only had to go an evening without a tea! There was a lovely 4 poster bed which was very comfy and soft, slept like a baby. We had a hot tub as well which was fenced off so very private, someone came to check on it twice a day and rang a doorbell before entering, they always came during day so was not a problem for us as we only used the hot tub in the evening. Wifi worked well and tv had the main channels. Not much to do in the area apart from going for walks so I would recommend having a car, although we had a lovely walk through the golf course. We went to the pub nextdoor and had a lovely sunday roast, food was delicious highly recommend visiting when you’re there. We also visited Farnham which had a highstreet of shops and we had a lovely lunch in one of the cafes there. Overall I would recommend if you’re looking for somewhere to chill and relax and have a little break not doing very much! We definitely visit again.

I'm sorry there was no tea and coffee pack during your stay this is something we are re introducing now, but previously along with some other items we had to remove due to covid 19. We booked a last-minute weekend trip here and had a wonderful time. On the day of arrival they called us to let us know the lodge was ready a bit earlier then the advertised checkin time (which is 5pm), which was greatly appreciated as we knew we could go straight there. We stopped off at a nearby Sainsburys Local to pick up essentials on the way. When we arrived, the lady who checked us in was ever so friendly and helpful (sorry, we have forgotten her name). We were pleased that our lodge was on the edge of the park and so it wasn't particularly overlooked. I agree with other reviews that the park is not that big and the lodges are not secluded, so do bear this in mind. On site there is a small shop for essentials and a pond with lots of ducks!

The lodge itself was lovely and bigger than we expected. Very clean too. There were some tea/coffee/milk sachets, and a kitchen pack including a bin bag, a couple of dishwasher tablets, sponge and small bottle of washing up liquid which was enough to last us the weekend.

The location is lovely and although the park itself isn't exactly secluded, you can go for walks through the golf course in either direction. We also visited Frensham Little Pond which was a 5 minute drive away, and the village of Tilford (and on most weekends during the summer the local cricket teams play in the village green and you can watch for free, and can even take a picnic or drinks).

For dining, there is the Duke of Cambridge pub which is less than a minutes walk. We also looked on Google and had takeaways delivered. There are some fast food eateries, pubs etc nearby too. The kitchen was ideal for cooking and plenty of utensils etc.

Overall we had a very enjoyable break and thought the lodge was perfect for what we wanted. If we were to be picky, the only downside would be that some of the lodges were quite close to each other so people sitting outside on the veranda didn't really have privacy - this would be the only thing that would make us hesitant to book here again.

We are so pleased to receive your review of your stay with us last week and sharing so much positive feedback. We welcome all reviews here at Tilford Woods and although you felt some of the lodges were quite close to each other, it doesn't sound like it impacted your wonderful break. We have so many guests who return to us each year and we really hope to see you again as we pride ourselves in offering our genuine friendly and helpful customer service which you were so kind to comment on in your review. We are lucky to offer a very personal service; we are one of the smaller Darwin parks and as a result can make people's stays rather special in this way. Please don't hesitate to contact us in Reception if you ever do consider booking a staycation with us again as we will be able to accommodate your holiday needs in a personal way through our booking agent. Thank you once again for taking the time to write such a lovely and detailed review. Lisa - Guest Relations

Not a bad word to say, we stayed in one of the premium lodges with a hot tub & sauna monday to friday & everything was immense; all the staff are friendly as anything and always willing to help if any issues pop up. One lady at reception even reminded my boyfriend and I to take water with us on our walk as it was 26° which was adorable of her. The hot tub maintenance guys (didn’t catch their names:(,) come twice a day to ensure the PH levels are right and it’s clean & they’re so lovely to talk to as well. The lodge interior is gorgeous & the bed was hands down the comfiest we’ve ever stayed in besides our own. Literally can’t fault ANYTHING, 11/10 we will be back <3

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left this morning we couldn’t fault this beautiful holiday stay-cation destination. Before arrival, we received a courtesy call from the friendly staff there, we weren’t going to be arriving until later, but were advised as to how to go about finding out lodge. When we pulled up, the lodge was just picturesque. A well equipped kitchen area greeted us, that adjoined with a lounge area. Further into the lodge was the bedroom and bathroom, the bed was so comfortable and plenty of towels, plus robes and slippers were laid out for us. We had booked a ‘Cobbett’ lodge , and the design and style was very well put together. We had a hot tub out the back, that just added to our trip, the private sauna off the bathroom was a unique addition as well.
We had dinner at the Duke of Cambridge pub, which was a few minutes walk from our lodge, the food was delicious and would recommend going there if you are staying at Tilford Woods lodge retreat. All in all, a wonderful stay and would be delighted to return in the future!

Dear Laura, A huge thank you for your review of your stay at Tilford Woods and we appreciate the time you've spent sharing your thoughts with us. All the team here are delighted to hear that you have had such an enjoyable staycation. The different styles of lodges allow us to cater for a wide variety of needs; the Cobbett lodges are certainly very popular and our most sought after lodge due to the private hot tub arrangement and sauna for a little extra luxury. We look forward to welcoming you again here at Tilford and thanks once again.

Lodges are Tightly packed together leaving no privacy. Lodge 17 feels like you are in a goldfish bowl with everyone looking in as they walk by. Not to mention the cleaning team huddling outside the lodge On the Friday to clean on change over day, I must add we were not leaving but staying the fall week. Maybe our downfall here as it’s not worth staying a full week. So much so we left a day early (Sunday)

Lodges are tiny would hate to of had it full with 6 people. Bedroom 3 is so small that the door doesn’t open fully it hits the bed. Dining room table Is tightly packed behind sofa you will struggle to get six round it unless you have a 10 inch waist to squeeze past others.

Check in - what is the point in putting a cone out to stop access to the park. I can only assume it’s to upset the people still staying at the park and to impede their access. It makes no logical sense to have a cone out when there are two large signs saying wait here for check in

The lodges are Well equipped with all you need for a stay and the Duke of Cambridge pub at the bottom of the lane is a right Gem. Other interests locally were Legoland, Alice holt forest, Wellington country park and coral reef waterworld all worth a look. They are all cleaned very well and maintained to a high standard.

Take bottled water as tap water taste stale, may well be the area and not there fault. Im never a fussy water drinker but this stuff was just awful

Recycling ?, general waste? No idea how this works there were some pathetic recycling bins outside our lodge (another great location and opportunity for people to peer in) but as for general waste where does it go. No instructions and no proper waste area, packed in to many lodges. Waste clearly an after thought

Thank you for your review where you have pointed out certain things that have resulted in a mixed stay for you. It is a great shame that on this occasion you found the 3 bed lodge too small. Bedroom 3 in the Hawthorns is a little compact for some guests' needs but they are still able to have a decent size wardrobe and bedside table for convenience together with the two 3' beds in solid wood frames. The open plan arrangement of the kitchen, dining and lounge area allows for guests to enjoy time together, making the most of dining chairs with a large table to enjoy meals as a family, and then two large sofas for relaxing, socializing and watching television etc. We appreciate your comments regarding our Check-in/Check-out days. These are always hectic days as a company, especially when the park is so popular and we have a full turnover of guests. Our cleaning staff work incredibly hard to turn around 28-33 lodge cleans in 7 hours and we have found of late, that if some guests check out later than the stipulated 9am, it has an impact on them being able to start work when they arrive at 9am and have signed in at the side of Reception and are ready to work in their teams. The cones and welcome billboards at the entrance on Check-in/out days are there for a couple of hours in the afternoon to help us manage guest arrivals as smoothly as possible and we would like to apologize if this caused you inconvenience. Your comments regarding our general waste and recycling are very valid and we have recently added a small information sheet to the complimentary gift suitcase to ensure guests know that general waste is collected daily and that people can recycle specific waste, as many like to do so. One of our medium term plans at the park is to replace the coloured recycling bins to the side of Reception with slightly larger containers and we are very much hoping to implement this initiative as soon as possible. We are so glad to hear that you found the lodges well-equipped with all that you needed for a self catering stay. We feel we have always been generous in what we offer in terms of kitchen equipment and utensils, and people like the fact that we offer a free welcome pack to set up straight away in the kitchen as well as one in the bathroom too. Finally, we are so glad that you made the most of your stay with us by visiting some of the local 'gems'. We always thoroughly enjoy telling new guests of what is available in the local area for all to enjoy their stay with us.

Arrived at reception at 3:45 after a long car journey only to be told by the receptionist the Lodge was still not ready. She advised we could park in the allocated space (not adjacent to the lodge)
Took a stroll to the pub The Duke of Cambridge next to the site to get a drink. We had our dog with us luckily it was dog friendly.
Walked back to reception to ask if the lodge was ready finally it was. Asked if we needed a key as have stayed in many lodges and usually have induction and tour of property. On this occasion we’re told just go the key is inside the Lodge which was unlocked. No further information!
On entering the lodge all appeared clean if a little dated. The sofas were uncomfortable the bed was comfy only annoying thing was turning over in bed the frame would squeak and convinced the whole thing may collapse.
The hot tub was extremely hot on the first night but a little cooler the next day. Our bedroom was adjacent to the hot tub and could hear it coming on throughout the night to heat up. Did not try the sauna in the bathroom. Bathrobes, 1 towel each and slippers were provided.
There was a small welcome pack in the kitchen of mini washing up liquid, 2 dishwasher tablets and a spare bin liner. Kettle was really noisy on boiling thought it was going to explode. No plastic glasses provided to use outside. Dining chair was ripped.
Perhaps a little TLC would improve this Lodge and little touches like cushions on the sofa.
All in all if you want a quiet break the park itself is very quiet.
Connect to onsite Wi-Fi good. Mobile signal weak.
Recommend the food in The Duke if Cambridge!

When we arrived at the lodge it was immaculate which you would expect in this current climate, plus it was just lovely inside too and the beds were very comfortable. The surrounding area is lovely for walks with our dog and toddler. We loved the frensham great pond for our toddler it’s like a beach with soft sand looking out to a huge pond he just loved it there. We had a few days out as the resort was in an ideal location to drive to attractions, like Arundel Castle, Bird World, Gruffalo Trail and Bognor Regis Beach. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning!!!

We stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely, relaxing break. The lodges are well laid out and it feels very private, we had a sauna and hot tub too and the hot tub was also very private on your own secluded veranda! I was surprised at how warm the lodge was in the middle of December! Kitchen was a lot bigger than we expected and the surrounding area is beautiful. The bed felt huge; king size four poster, just a shame the mattress was pretty lumpy.

Dear Guest, We are so pleased you had a super stay with us here at Tilford; the Cobbett lodges are certainly very popular for the hot tub and sauna features and the open plan living arrangement that you've mentioned works so well with different types of visitors; families, couples, dog owners etc. The nearby Hankley Common and National Trust settings are also really enjoyed by everyone. Thank you for highlighting your comment regarding the mattress to your bed; we will endeavor to look into this and take the necessary action, but we do hope to see you again here at our quiet rural lodge retreat. Thank you for choosing Tilford Woods for a staycation! Best wishes.

Hi I'm afraid this completely depends on the government, so far so good things seem to be on track, we opened on the 12th April for bookings of one household only, however the rules will change with the governments roadmap plan so please check the government website before you travel.

Hi We do not allow fire work displays on site and as far as im aware the golf club and the pub next door do not normally hold a display, I believe the nearest one is at the village school Waverly Abbey which is about 1.5 miles away, however im unsure if such an event would happen this year due to covid.
