We recently booked two stays here, the first was for 3 nights, from the 18th to 20th of November. The second was a few days later on Friday the 25th.

On both occasions, it was clear that the building and rooms were going through a rather major refurbishment, we did have a few issues.

The first visit we were given a double room on the sixth floor, room 611. It was a family room with a double bed and two singles. There was also a bath with integrated shower.

The room had recently been refurbished and was in good condition. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was crisp and clean. There was tea and coffee making facilities, a television and wall mounted heater.

We were very pleased with the room, our problem was in the corridor just outside our room. There was a fire door, and above the door, the ceiling tile had been removed, which revealed the source of the problem. There was a pipe that was constantly dripping, we assumed it was water, on to the floor below.

A number of towels were along the corridor to soak up the liquid, a mop bucket was also deployed, in the wrong position to collect the drips. The newly fitted carpet squelched as we walked along the corridor, it was most unpleasant. To add insult to injury we got dripped on every time we went in or out of the room. We thought that it was unsafe, unhealthy and unhygienic, not impressed.

We only stayed two of the three nights, we checked out a day early, we explained to the lady on reception why we were leaving. She was most apologetic and helpful, she said that we would be refunded for the night. The refund was made 2 days later.

We returned here on the 25th for one night, we were on the 6th floor again in room 609, which was not as far down the corridor as the leaking overhead pipe, which was still leaking.

Once again, our room had recently been refurbished. They should have taken the opportunity to replace the bath it was a bit dated and tired with a great chip taken out of it. Some of the workmanship was a bit shoddy, otherwise the room was tops.

The reception area was like a building site with places cordoned off and the old flooring lifted, not the easiest to navigate.

When checking out, we mentioned to the guy about the drip on the 6th floor, he said it was reported ages and no one seemed bothered about fixing it. Such a shame after the efforts of laying new carpets and the refurbishment.

We did also mention that there was no "free WiFi" (30 minutes) in the room on the two occasions we had stayed, he looked at his screen said "it is working" and walked off.

This hotel is currently being refurbished and our floor had been finished the previous week. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. Unfortunately, there was a very strong smell of the adhesive used to fit the carpet so we had to keep the window open. The room was booked as accessible and the bathroom was certainly large and had handrails. However, the shower was over the bath and not a walk-in cubicle or wet room as photos on the website had led us to expect. There was also very little separation between the toilet and the basin which was very restricting. The receptionist told us that all the accessible rooms had this configuration but there were double rooms with walk-in showers. However, it is not possible to specify this when booking online. The room was on the 5th floor which would have been difficult for a wheelchair user to evacuate safely in case of a fire. Why were the accessible rooms not on the 2nd floor where there would have been a level route to the car park?

I Stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks whilst working in London and can honestly say it was nothing short of a pleasant experience. The staff from the reception team to the cleaners to bar staff were all very friendly , helpful and welcoming. the room was spacious and clean. There was plenty of parking. the WIFI Was quick and most importantly the staff went above and beyond to assist in any way they can.

The only negative was we had no hot water for an hour or so however when staff were informed it had gone off they done everything they could to get it back. which they did in good time.

I Was skeptical at staying here at first having read the reviews however after being there for 14 nights i can say that my experience was perfect!

Thank you to all staff At Travelodge Chessington Tolworth!

Hotel was in a great location and had plenty of halal food choices within walking distance. The staff were really friendly and professional however the hotels interior was suffering with half of it being recently redecorated and other half untouched. In our room we had a better and cleaner smell and furnishings however one chair was broken and when my wife sat on it it just collapsed into itself and she is a petite small woman. Wouldn’t had noticed all the details had the smell been less noticeable. When we went to breakfast the high chair was filthy and I asked the staff to clean it which took her 20mins and she said it was so tough possibly never cleaned ever. The unlimited buffet was poor for £9.50pp though the staff were friendly and the coffee was good the food wasn’t at all with no vegetarian options or halal option. Limiting me to baked beans. at this point I just felt mislead by the hotel website which mentioned new rooms and UNLIMITED breakfast. As the staff were so good I tried my best to turn a blind eye to the matters but unfortunately the breakfast situation was the last straw for me. I would recommend the carpets are cleaned by professional carpet cleaner to save costs but also get dehumidifiers to absorb all the left over moisture this will tackle the smell issue. Bulk buy the chemicals that is used to clean chrome for the bathrooms. Get normal hand wash bottles as the wall mounted pump dispensers could become faulty as was mine on room 714. Have the laundry do quality assurance on the bedding linen towels etc. if you’d like to employ me as a consultant I would be happy and willing to resolve all the matters for Travelodge very easily.

Friday 29th December and we spent the night here, we were charged £46.99 for the night.

Having parked up in the free car park, we accessed the building through a door with an entry button linked to reception. From here we took the lift down to Reception, on the ground floor to check in, bit of an odd arrangement. Once checked in we took the lift up to our 2nd floor double room which was on the same floor as the bar and cafe.

The cafe was open from from 07.00 till 11.00 weekdays and 08.00 till 11.00 at weekends. The bar was open from 17.00 and 23.00, dinner was also served during these hours.

We have stayed here before and since our previous visit the revamping and refurbishment of the hotel had been completed. There was a vast improvement in the appearance of the hotel, gone were the grotty old carpets, Reception and the Cafe/Bar were bright and modern.

Our room was equipped with an electric wall mounted heater and temperature in the room was regulated when guest were not in the room. There was also a television, bottle opener,  tea and coffee making facilities with additional supplies were available from Reception. Also available from Reception was an iron and ironing boards. USB charging points were on both sides of the bed. There was also a hanging space for clothing and additional pillows. We also got thirty free WiFi minutes.

Initially looked good, the room was well maintained and in good order, the bedding was crisp and clean.

We did have a few niggles, the liquid soap dispenser in the bathroom was broken and constantly dripped forming a sticky puddle across the floor. We cleaned it up once then left the waste basket open underneath it to catch the drips. We did report the problem to reception, we were informed that it would be fixed in the morning, not much use to us as we were only there one night. Also in the bathroom, the chrome on drain in the shower was corroded

There were no net curtains over the window when main curtains were open. It could be the outside of the window was mirrored so no one could see in, did not want to take the risk.

Although recently decorated there were a number of large scuff marks on the walls.

We did discover that our mattress did have a dip in the middle which made us roll towards the centre of the bed. Would have been really comfortable for one person.

Has been refurbished recently (long overdue) and the rooms are bright, clean and adequate. Beds are very comfortable. Staff are friendly and welcoming. We had two rooms for two nights, for which we paid almost £350 without any food, so it's not cheap. Annoyed then to be told a further £3 per day is required to access the wifi, which in any event didn't work. Parking is free and plentiful.
The entrance from the second floor car park is dirty and has a large ash tray bin right outside.
Food isn't great but better than going hungry (they don't offer a fried egg with the cooked breakfast and the scrambled eggs are processed / frozen, not fresh - I kid you not - so we avoided that).
Good location for access to central London.
I would go back there but I'd make sure I had sorted wifi before going.

One of the worst Travelodges I’ve ever experienced.
Booked a family room for 4 nights here. On night 1 we tried the “restaurant”. It was very small and staffed by only a couple of people, it was certainly not busy but was very noisy, with a few young children running around and shouting, apparently unsupervised? There was limited food available, no pasta, so we ordered pizza which took about 15 minutes to arrive and was badly burnt, we were hungry so ate what we could and went back to our room. That night we were kept up by someone in the room above that appeared to have a professional sound system as the concrete structure of the building was resonating. In the morning we could also hear a dog in the room anbove . Outside the room the corridor stank of cannabis and it became clear that the hotel was being used to house residents, not just guests.
We persevered with the place but noticed other faults such as the radiator hanging off the wall, the bathroom extractor fan not working, the smoke detector had flashing red lights which meant the system was faulty, also several of the doors throughout the hotel had faulty key fob systems and there were areas of mould on certain walls.
On night 3 the music started again, I was feeling ill at this point as I had caught a cold, so my wife went to complain at reception….nothing happened! We had also requested another cup as there were only 2 in our room (3 of us), no cup ever came.
Basically, we coped with the place but it was utterly dismal and the staff evidently didn’t give two hoots.
The only positives were that we didn’t catch bed bugs and the water was warm in the taps!
We left feeling like a full refund was the least we were entitled to but were so exhausted and relieved to be going that this review is all we could muster!
