We stayed [three adults] for 5 nights in a family room which was very clean and comfortable and as we booked well in advance great value. All the staff were super, very friendly and helpful. We wanted to base ourselves between Durham and Bamburgh and the location was ideal. Burgerking and Greggs on site too.

After the Covid regulations changed, our holiday to Northumberland was cancelled 3 days before we were due to travel. However, we managed to book rooms at this Travel Lodge, remain within the "rules", and have a wonderful week exploring the coastal towns in the area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel meant we had easy access to all locations visited.

We found the travelodge easily. The welcome from the receptionist was really friendly and they managed to arrange for us to have a larger rear facing room. These are family rooms and more spacious having spare singles and an extra chair. We were ideally placed for our trips out which included, Cragside, Beamish, Hadrians Wall and Belsey. We also visited Northumberlandia which is close by and well worth a visit.
The shop in the garage provided us with basic food like milk and we bought sandwiches from Greggs. Our best evening meals were at the Toby Inn at Kenton Bank, good food, service and excellent value. We were not keen on Falcons Nest at Gosforth, poor food and expensive.
There was a problem at the travelodge when a drain burst and it proved to be difficult to fix. We were kept fully informed by Joanne, the manager and it didn’t impact on our holiday. She dealt with it very well spending long periods trying to get it sorted. I can only praise the staff who were helpful as well as pleasant and friendly.

Stayed at this Travelodge last night, on our return from Scotland,

Receptionist was nice enough, reception smart enough, then through to the hotel, carpets in the hallway a bit worn & dirty, thought it was just a busy hotel.

The room, well it was a shocker, the floors were absolutely filthy, making the hall look clean, the bathroom was dirty & stained, the bath was really not useable, luckily was going home so thought I think I will wait! Toilet was not clean, but luckily we had wet wipes & anti bac.

This was one of the 'dog friendly' rooms so we were forced to pay an extra £40 for the two dogs (one was booked in & last minute we had to bring another), receptionist pretty pushy about getting the other £20 for a filthy room!!!

I have to say, I've seen much cleaner dog kennels, even the dog bed & bowl was clean, neither of our dogs would actually get near it, we luckily bought a crate to keep them in so pushed it out the way.

Although the bed linen was clean, the duvet cover was ripped right across the top.

This really should have a hazard warning on the door.

We paid £39 for the room & £40 for the dogs £79, we stay a lot in Travelodge & Premier Inn - with the filth they really should have paid us.

Outside was like a rubbish dump, piles of rubbish right around the car park, site also has a burger king & greggs, maybe someone might have thought to clear up - certainly wouldn't have eaten anything from any of these outlets!

I think environmental health needs to look at this whole site!

I was in Newcastle for my friend's wedding. I stayed at this Travelodge because it was the closest (and most economical hotel) that was just a 36 minute walk away from the wedding venue.
When taxis are short in supply around the area on a night, the location of this Travelodge is an absolute gem.

The room and facilities were clean and consistent with my expectations of Travelodge.

Customer service was great. I met two female receptionists during my stay and both were very friendly and welcoming.

Thank you!

Should you wish to stay at this hotel, that is your personal choice. I’m simply offering a review of my experience. In a nutshell, this Travelodge totally ruined our family holiday. We booked in for three nights to use as a base to explore the Northumberland Coast. It was dog friendly, but it’s not that friendly given that travelodge charged an extra £20 per night per dog…I should love o know how they can justify this exorbitant rate.

We knew as soon as we drove up to the hotel that it was pretty much a dump…the litter and fag ends outside the hotel was nauseating….providing a close match for the dirty carpets in the hallway and rooms. We were given Room 5…the first thing we noticed was that despite it being a sunny day, the curtains were closed. I opened them to discover that there was no net curtain between myself and the men sat in their cars just a couple of metres away in the car park. It was a bit like being on stage! Just as well I didn’t remove my clothes or I would have had a larger goggling male audience! I then entered the bathroom to find a sink full of cold water…I was loath to submerge my hand to release the water, but with two children, I had little choice. But, the plug was broken…so no drainage occurred! I then checked the spare bed…tucked under the double bed to find a mattress with old blood stains. It was at this point that an travelodge employee pitched up to make up the spare bed….oblivious to the old blood stains. I mentioned the sink, he denied there was a problem until I physically showed him…at which point, he suggested a screwdriver or a hammer would fix it…can’t recall which. I mentioned the serious lack of privacy without a net curtain and his advice was to keep the curtains shut….with the expectation that we sit around in the dark or with artificial lights during daylight hours!

We were offered room 6…we accepted…I walked in to find a dirty brown dog bed, dog bowl and bone. It was beyond nauseating. I wanted to cry…my poor children! Still no net curtain for privacy despite people sitting outside the window smoking etc. Cups were dirty, one even had coffee paper stuck to the inside. Paint peeling off wall and door frame, black hair in bath. Only three cups and not 4! Pillow cases had yellow tinge, carpet filthy and humped outside bathroom door. Bathroom floor so uneven it was like walking along a dirt track. The shower was decent, but maybe that’s just because we have been without showering facilities as we are renovating our home. The noise from the main road was deafening and the room was sweltering hot.

Yes the staff were friendly, but the hotel was an absolute disgrace and unhygienic, which appeared to be acceptable. In essence, this travelodge ruined our precious family holiday.

Booked in here at last minute as pre booked accommodation in another establishment was dire.
Staff at reception were helpful, happily showed the room prior to checking in and continued to offer help as we took our child and luggage in.
Room was simple, clean and comfortable. Hand wash and bathing toiletries provided and good supply of tea/coffee etc.
Beds clean and comfortable, white towels clean and soft.
Breakfast to go was a perfect option for us, providing box with cereal, uht milk. Orange juice, pain au chocolate and an oat flapjack.
Although situated at a small services, the sound of traffic was minimal and didn’t disturb us at all!
As with many budget stay places, the carpets showed wear and tear but they were clean.
Overall a great stay.

We normally use Premier Inn, but decided to give Travelodge at Seaton Burn a try. The Staff were very welcoming, offered to help with the bags to our room and provided advice on local places to eat etc. Unfortunately, Travelodge allow guests to smoke at the main entrance and not a designated area away from this area and bedroom windows. Stale and Fresh Cigarette smoke filled the Reception Area/Entrance, the Corridors/Stairs to Bedrooms and into the bedrooms from the same or via the bedroom windows. Running the gauntlet of smokers at the entrance is very off putting and does little to enhance your stay or professional view of the Travelodge.
Disabled Parking Bays are in constant use by persons/guests not displaying disabled blue badges and over our 3 night stay we were never able to secure a designated bay. The signs, road markings and deep potholes need real attrention. Horizon Parking have excellent Disabled Parking Signs/Facilities at the Premier Inn/Beefeeter Restaurant, so why not at Travelodge. Premier Inn/Beefeeter less than 2 miles away have a clear bay markings/warning signs that non disabled badge holders will be fined £100 for unauthorised use. That Said, the room, toilet and bedding was clean and apart from the road noise due to it being in between 3 major roads and right next to the petrol station we had a reasonable stay. We would like to see this Travelodge improve as the staff deserv e more Senior Management Support

Close to coast, perfect as a stop over if travelling North or South as close to the A1 and A19. Rooms comfortable and clean, great value for money. Staff really friendly and welcoming. Parking convenient to hotel entrance. This hotel is on a service area which could do with employing a litter picker, its not very welcoming.

If you’re a family looking for clean comfortable beds, a room with tv and tea making facilities and a powerful shower this is the best value place to stay. Close to road but relatively quiet, we heard no noise from other guests at night. There is a Burger King and Greggs on the door step…very convenient for dinner and breakfast. Would recommend taking your own soap, other than that was very good 👍

I’d guess about £20. It’s a good distance down the A19. Then a few miles down the cost road.
