A return to our favourite local venue. This year the Christmas dining with carols was a Sunday lunch. Friendly welcome, notably from Orsi (waitress) and the restaurant manager who met all the needs of a strong vegetarian - with new choices. Good meal, helped by a little wine and everyone was happy and full. The staff were faultless, especially the new black waitress whose humour matched the occasion (sorry no name).

We had our wedding at Nuthurst Grange Hotel on the 9th September and it was simply amazing! We cannot thank the team enough. We had visited many venues but when we arrived at Nuthurst in March, in its beautiful grounds, we immediately felt relaxed and knew it was the one for us. From the warm welcome from Helen on reception to meeting the wedding coordinators, Magda and Kelly, we were made to feel that nothing was too much trouble. Hotel and Grounds The hotel, although being incredible stylish and looking exquisite, also made you feel relaxed and comfortable. I stayed in the Hen House the night before the wedding and it was an uncharacteristically hot evening. The room had a large portable fan which was much needed and welcomed. The honeymoon suite is lovely. Gorgeous free-standing bath, separate shower room, a balcony overlooking the helipad that there is room to sit or sunbathe on! Our other guests also loved their rooms and the housekeeping team did a wonderful job in accommodating all of the extra beds that were required in some of the rooms. The grounds are just beautiful, well maintained with lots of little areas to wonder too – plenty of photo opportunities. Food We enjoyed our complimentary food tasting and the excellent service and humour of HB! We were asked to give feedback on the dishes, we did ask for minor tweaks, which the Chef made sure were incorporated for the wedding breakfast. The food on the day was delicious, plentiful and hot, and it received so many compliments from the guests. The breakfast and service the next day was also fabulous. As we had booked all of the rooms, we had all of the stunning dining areas to make use of. The Team The team at the hotel are simply exceptional. We visited Magda and Kelly several times before the wedding with lots of questions, and each time they were so accommodating and helpful, and made us feel confident that everything was going to run smoothly. The evening before our wedding, I thought I had torn my wedding dress trying to pack it. Marjan on reception was so comforting as we arrived and immediately offered to contact her friend who was a seamstress and Kelly was also there to give me a hug. Thankfully, the dress was not torn but Marjan’s reaction was reflective of all of the team at Nuthurst Grange – they go above and beyond to try and make the day special for you. We would like to say a special thanks to Grant (General Manager), who was phenomenal. Grant was with us the evening before the wedding helping to set up, and with us again first thing the next morning; helping with button holes, keeping us informed of where we needed to be and when and making sure that the day ran smoothly. We had forgotten to let Grant know that we wanted to do a photo dash from table to table during the wedding breakfast. Immediately, he organised music, managed the timings of the meal and made sure that we could take the photos. He has an amazing “can do” attitude even under pressure, so friendly, professional, all of the guests commented on how great he and the team were. Grant and the exceptional team made sure we felt completely relaxed, that they had everything under control and the attention to detail was stunning, they all looked after us so well. Some of our guests had left items behind, which housekeeping promptly brought to the attention of Helen at reception who made sure that everything was returned. The team at the hotel at every level have a fabulous ethic and are a real credit to Paul the owner. We absolutely loved our day, thank you all so much for making it so magical for us x

We had a function in the Stables - a separate annexe to the main hotel and it was fabulous. The events manager Kelly was extremely helpful and incredibly patient! Nothing was too much trouble and every detail was taken care of. The waiting and bar staff on the day were excellent. The food was superb and plenty of it. Special thanks to Grant for helping with the technical stuff too. Excellent choice for a venue

Signage from the car park to the hotel - in the dark - is virtually invisible. Check in was perfunctory. Room was cold as radiators didn’t work. Bathroom was the same. (There was a fan heater in the room but who wants a fan running all night?) Sounds of vermin overnight either in the walls or in the roof. All of these were annoying, collectively irritating but a poor experience can be redeemed by a good breakfast but even that was mediocre - I was hustled into a back room because I wasn’t “with the wedding”. Buffet was sparse and the “hot” food was cold. I booked this for an overnight stop to break a lengthy journey. I chose a well rated hotel over the plentiful budget brands as I wanted something I thought would be better. I should have saved my money. This hotel seems to score well as being somewhere good to dine or to hold or attend a wedding. Looking at past reviews, it seems it falls down at actually being an hotel. There’s a Premier Inn less than 4 miles away. I should have stayed there. Cheaper and a far better breakfast

I would like to say a big thank you to all of the team who worked on 26th, 27th and 28th July 2023. We stayed in room 14 which had 2 large, very comfortable beds and was absolutely stunning. I could have stayed in the room for a week. Beautiful view and had everything you needed and more even down to the toiletries. The room was spotlessly clean and decorated beautifully. We attended a function in the Stables and was also blown away with the quality/design of the environment and excellent customer service. Compliment’s to the chef’s the food - hot buffet and breakfast was absolutely delicious. We would like to give a special mention to Michael who was very welcoming and went above and beyond to give all guests a good evening. Michael gave excellent customer service and was very knowledgeable of all products/services available at Nuthurst. We will definitely be returning. There were 2 lovely ladies who covered reception, they were also amazing, polite and friendly. Thank you, we wish you all a very happy future. Warm regards, Simone & Shola xx

We were a bit disappointed with our afternoon tea. We have been to so many places and I’d say sadly this was the worst. The table was far too big being on a table for 4 when we were only 2. No tea menu, just asked ‘tea or coffee?’ That was a first in any place we’v been in. A lot of white bread used. No fruit scones only plain. The waiter was lovely and very pleasant. Overall impression was it just lacked. So no I wouldn’t go back or recommend afternoon tea.

Attended a birthday Sunday lunch and although our table was not ready for the agread time we were well looked after in the very comfortble bar until it was available. Our table was in the conservatory which was very pleasant overlooking the gardens the menu was limited but the choices should accommodate most peoples tastes. the food was excellent although I thought the portion size was a bit on the small side especially the starter and desert. The staff were attentive and engaging and a enjoyable time was had by all.

We attended a wedding yesterday and from arrival to departure I can only say that the venue and the staff were impeccable. Extremely well organised and the quality of the food throughout the day and the attention of the staff to detail was excellent. Well done Paul and crew….
