Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely hotel central to the town and train station. Julie was very welcoming snd accommodating to our needs. She has clearly put a lot of thought into ensuring her guests have the best stay, from tea/coffee and biscuits to the presentation of the towels. Mattress, pillow and bedding very comfy. We will certainly be back annually xx

We went on Monday expecting a nice hotel and instead it was awful. A rundown building, car park with old mattress dumped. 2 weedy window boxes. Couldn’t book in until 4 p.m. and then had text with code to open the door. No one around as there is no reception just door to stairs and rooms. The room was fine but certainly not a superior double as shown. There was no bar, no lounge, no restaurant and no breakfast. We couldn’t stay another night and am now trying to get refund for the second night, no reply as yet though! On the website it looks lovely but it is so deceitful, we really feel we have been conned. It’s a disgraceful thing to do and it ruined our time away.

Don’t get out of the car! It’s awful, it has a 4 star rating , the only stars on show were through the holes in the curtains. There are no staff on duty anywhere so good luck . Beware hot tap is cold water and vice versa. To be honest I didn’t feel particularly safe as door didn’t lock properly . I think I was lucky that the car was safe in car park

Absolutely terrible stay here. Cold tired room. With rotting window. Every lorry that went past window and room rattled. No heating on until 6.30pm. Freezing cold in the morning only a small fan heater upon request. No heating in the bathroom. Tv is free view and is hanging off the wall. Get me out of here.

The room we booked looked nothing like what we got. The toilet was wobbly and leaking, waste pipe had duct tape holding it together. Had to use my own tools to the water off. Bed was loose. Then to top it off woke up in the morning for my van to be blocked in due to poor parking making me 2 hours late for work. Got offered a twin room as an alternative but there wasn’t much difference. Won’t be staying again.

Cheap, Low Quality, Damp but acceptable. Given it was a last minute booking you never expect much…but usually a bit more than what was found. The location of the property itself is fine, but when walking into the room situated in the car park, the smell of damp blasting you in the nasal cavity was overpowering. Handles missing or hanging off on units, a hairdryer that didnt work, ripped wallpaper, poor tiling, a towel rail that fell off when putting a towel on it and an uncomfortable bed with a thin pillow each. Unable to lock the door when going out no matter what you tried, so decided it was just as secure to leave the key inside on the floor. Wi-fi and TV worked fine, shower was okay too.

A nice little hotel, but a bit too much like hard work to check in - you have to call the number on the door and hope someone answers. Once in, the room wasn’t too bad. It’s near to the station and many pubs and restaurants, but a slight walk to the shops if you need one or two things.

The hotel is reasonably well located, but that's it. The facade looks shabby and nothing improves inside. The hotel is in a time warp. Very dated fixtures and fittings. No care whatsoever given to decor. Bathroom door wouldn't close. Curtains very thin, which in June, let the sun through at 5am. I'm far from fussy, but this place is definitely to be avoided. Sorry!

As my train had been stopped at Rugby, I looked for a local hotel. I booked the Carlton. When I got there, it was unclear where my room was. When I got to the room, it was like an oven, with no aircon or fan. I decided not to stay. At least the manager cancelled my booking.
