Situated in a delightfully sunny spot on the sea front with extensive lawns and superb Channel views, this exceptional Georgian building dates from the 1830s and has been visited by the Emperor Napoleon III of France and various descendants of Queen Victoria. It is a short walk from the pier and shops. All 67 bedrooms are centrally heated with private bath or shower and WC, internal telephone, TV, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is an attractive cocktail bar, a split level restaurant, a relaxing quiet lounge looking out onto the garden and a ballroom with small dance floor. Lift serves most rooms (some rooms accessed via several stairs). Entertainment is provided most evenings.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had twin room and beds uncomfortable feeling the worn springs. Rooms serviceable but toilet ackward because of position. Bed bases in the hallway and left over carpet in the lounge area. Floorboard noise from upstairs and our room was horrendous so the room underneath us would have been terrible. Window in our room overlooked dirty roof rusty cabinet and rear of kitchen. Usual bland tea and coffee with weak pasteurised milk. No facility to buy a hot drink in lounge area not even a machine. Same entertainment each night, could have varied. Breakfast very good and staff attentive but overall premises appeared tired. Good position for pier but couldn’t find any local attractions. TV set to news with subtitles and nothing to do when weather bad for self entertainment. Alcoholic drinks fairly priced and free wine with evening meal a bonus. Maybe price reflects the standard but could be much better.

I would give this zero of possible, my husband and I booked to stay her for the weekend in October and left at midnight on the first night, next to our room was an electrical company where mouse was penetrating through our room, at first we did not hear the noise because we could hear the noise from the bar area, when the music in the bar stopped that when we could hear the electrical noise, like an extractor fan. At around 11:15pm I spoke with the Night porter who listen to the noise and said he had no key to open the cupboard up and he had no access to the system to see if rooms to move us, we were told we would have to put up with it and talk to the day team the next day We moved the bed to the other side of the room, made no difference at midnight we gave up and left, telling the night porter we can stay where we can't sleep. We made a complaint and told noone else had complained, we were basically called liers, booking.com offered 50% refund which we refused as we want a full refund, You do not book a hotel to not sleep, the service of this company is non existent, they don't want to help, they don't believe we have a card I ask anyone reading this review, would you leave a hotel on the first night at midnight if the noise was not that bad? Do you book a hotel to sleep or to listen to electrical noise all night If you were in this same position would you expect it to be reasonable to ask for a refund or do you think we should of put up with the noise, who expected just the 50% refund I ask what would edo? Do you reading think we are being unreasonable? Or should the management of this hotel refund us in full? I believe they should I believe you book a hotel to sleep and they did not provide an environment where we could sleep. They should approve a full refund.

The first bad experience was they charged me £10 for just checking in, and from there it went downhill. The receptionist was surly in her attitude in charging me £10 for checking in. Then the breakfast staff were surly to me as they wanted to sit me right next to a couple only 3 feet away head-to-head; literally, just a foot between tables. The restaurant was empty except for us. We shan't stay there again. Surly is how I would describe their (whole staff) attitude to customers. I didn't have a great holiday there. Hotel staff weren't there for you: you were the bother of their existence.

First the good points :- Excellent location on the sea front with free car parking. The room we had was a small double. Adequate for a short stay and clean. Good bathroom. Free wifi. Good breakfast - full english, well cooked except the toast which was leathery and orange juice overly watered down. Not so good :- Room was very hot and no way to open the window. TV was unwatchable - pixelating all the time. It is probably regular coach parties that provide much of the hotel's income. I rated the hotel 3 on tripadisor as 4 is deemed Very Good. 3.5 - Good would be a better rating from me.

Dingy room, with dirty windows. No Internet. Noisey from fellow guests above and barking dog outside. Food was plentiful, but of less-than-average quality. Staff were run off their feet, but were good by and large. Good position in the centre of Bognor. Booking was poor - we requested a sea-view, and top floor - we got neither.

Hotel is in a good location and looks lovely from the outside. The receptionist was far from welcoming and deadpan. I Stayed in a single room which to be fair was clean and tidy. I had a lovely view looking over the dumped mattresses and bins at the back, the sash windows rattled all night and the wind flapped the curtains about due to the huge gap in the frame. I know it's an old building but this room would be freezing in winter. I stay in hotels 2 times a week due to work and for the cost (£85) I have stayed in nicer for far less money
