Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

The Travelodge Billinghurst Five Oaks hotel is often celebrated for its clean and tranquil environment, with guests consistently commending the spacious and well-kept rooms. Nestled in peaceful countryside, its location wins favor for both convenience and serenity. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness are regularly highlighted, enhancing the welcoming ambiance.

Detailed Reviews
We often stay at Travelodges as they are value for money and have so many locations. Although the facilities are very generic and basic we have found that the staff and cleanliness does seem to differ greatly and we have experienced very rude and unhelpful staff and very poor standards of cleanliness at different locations.
However the Travelodge Billingshurst Five Oaks was one of the exceptional ones. We were greeted by a charming lady called Jan who made us feel very welcome. She took the time to engage with us and when we asked for suggestions of places nearby to eat she was extremely helpful. It seems that not only was Jan on reception but she also serviced the rooms and was still on duty when we left at midday the next day and still she remained jolly and friendly, such a breath of fresh air.
The room was spotlessly clean and fresh to a much higher standard than recently experienced in a Travelodge we stayed in recently at another location.
We will definitely return to the Billingshurst Travelodge when we are next in the area and I am more than happy to recommend this hotel.
Although this establishment does not provide a cooked breakfast option we enjoyed a fantastic brunch at Billys cafe immediately next door to the Travelodge and we highly recommend you try that too.

My wife and I stay regularly at this Travelodge and have done for over 17 years. So we have seen it rise Phoenix-like from the tired and rundown establishment it used to be with its indifferent staff.
To the reasonably presentable BUT very friendly venue it is currently. As with all Travelodges the smaller venues are so much nicer than the larger lodges, the staff are more friendly and answer requests for extra tea, coffee, towels with a smile and relaxed approach. This says more about the entire operation where large gets impersonal and removed from the individual guest who may be a regular or a single night stay.
There are a few niggles like the damage to the doors and frames caused by having the laundry/sluice room in the middle of the building meaning the skips of fresh bedding etc have to be dragged of propelled through the firedoors causing damage to finishes and materials and giving decorations a tired look very early into their service lives.
AS ever the crazy rule of a double room supplied with three towels is inexplicable. I have repeated that head office has this wrong two guests two hand towels and two bath towels. It's not rocket science. Bean counters at Head office please take note!
Otherwise there is nothing more to add as negative. The provision of a 'tag key' to get into the corridor to the rooms is long overdue and was a pleasant change a small step in security but one that has been long overdue. The loss of the few chairs in reception was understandable in these post lock-down days as was the loss of staff make up each morning which is no doubt welcomed by the housekeeping staff.
It is no hardship to smooth the bedding prior to leaving or on return if you like to 'air' the bedding during the day. Similarly the removal of the room fans means it is difficult to swiftly change stale air in the morning and leaving the windows open all day in the autumn can lead to a room full of leaves OR visiting pigeons...
As ever Jan and her team of staff provided a friendly welcome and the chance for a few words of exchange and advice on good places to visit or eat with the loss of the 'tourist' info stand the staff at Travelodges need to be more on the case with good local venues for food or entertainment. This can only now come from guests and I have found such information well received by the concierge/reception team.
My wife and I will be back, travel restrictions permitting in 2021 and we look forward to the return of the room fans from their hiding place...perhaps they are on a break at Premier Inn...

A well managed clean and friendly hotel. We are always made to feel welcome, including our dog which is important to us. Excellent value for money. This is an older style Travelodge, which suits us, the rooms are more spacious than the more modern hotels.

Room 5 25th July 2021:
I visit this hotel normally for business locally however today it's leisure.
Over the past few years I have visited this hotel it's been consistent in every way.
I know what to expect in clean rooms, safe parking, polite and friendly reception staff and a good shower normally for work.
Example's why I rated excellent:
When I asked about local places to eat I am provided with a good list and personal recommendations I could study more when I went to my room.
When I requested a room close as I was tired from the long drive I was provided the closest I have ever had. :D
When I use the bathroom it's always clean and the showers in every room I have been has been very good.
A fan was already in the room due to earlier heat helping circulate the hot air with both windows open.
Everything is always how I expect in tea/coffee facilities, bed and bathroom.
What also raises this higher than others is it's location, even though it's on a main road you hardly hear it as it's off from it and it's next to a local gem of a diner that's always worth visiting for breakfast/lunch/dinner and I very much book this hotel because of Billy's on the Road. :)
Rest assured booking a few days here is very good and tip they are normally booked up early a few times for work I have left it late to book and sold out so I ensure booking early! :)
Extra bonus points to the evening's supervisor Jan - Met before always happy and helpful :)

I was glad I had booked to stay here with my 6 yr old granddaughter recently. The staff were really friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. In particular Rachel who looked after us and made sure our stay was great. The room was comfortable and clean. The location is perfect for a number of nearby activities but for us, worth a 10 it meant a 10 minute drive to our destination at Fishers farm Park. We will be back and make sure we book in to this Travelodge again without a doubt.

Really helpful and friendly staff. Especially Chris and Helen who were especially helpful with refilling towels, etc and even bringing some spray to make the room smell nice. Definitely a lovely and friendly place to stay at.

Our room was ready on arrival and the window opened which was lovely. Room was clean and comfy. Reception ensured we had everything we needed and explained where to go.
Room was lovely and quiet, There is a ground floor only lodge so there were no noisy people thumping about upstairs.

An exceptional early Travelodge set within rural hayfields with a friendly independent cafe as its immediate neighbour. It is kept fanatically clean and fresh and all of the staff greet you whatever their role. Rooms are spacious and remain cool from the single floor construction, good opening windows and effective fans in each room. Much more attractive than you might assume from first appearances. The next door super clean cafe has a broad menu available 07:00 to 15:30.

A very small but cosy Travelodge on the A29 Stane Street located less than a mile from Billinghurst.
Jan and the team at Billinghurst Five Oaks are so friendly and welcoming when you arrive.
Although conveniently located next to Billy's on the Road Café, they do not provide evening meals so the long serving team members within the hotel are happy to recommend nearby places to eat for evening meals.
The hotel has recently had new carpets, so the corridors and rooms are looking fresher than some roadside Travelodges. However, the hotel would benefit from Travelodge's latest refurbishment scheme to introduce USB charging ports next to the bed along with new furniture and fittings to the rooms to modernise them.
This is only my second stay at Billinghurst Five Oaks, but I will most certainly be back soon!

This is a quiet and friendly hotel away from the busy main road. The room was large and comfortable with an excellent heating system. The bathroom was pristine and well lit with constant hot water and a reliable shower/bath. The staff were very friendly and were keen to help us make the most of our visit.

Food is served in 'Billy's on the Road', a brilliant cafe 2 mins walk from the Travelodge
Box or cornflakes, carton of milk and orange juice, flapjack and I think a pain au chocolate.
I felt there were too many calories in it. But if it is convenience you want it is fine.
Hi - we have two accessible bedrooms at the hotel
No. But fans in the rooms.
