Travellers' Choice
Widely acclaimed as Britain's most beautiful railway station, Petworth's former train station is now one of the country's most unusual destination hotels. Step back in time and enjoy a romantic and unique break in one of our restored Pullman railway carriages or stay in the old Station House. In summer, enjoy our fine breakfast on the platform, overlooking our exotic garden or, in winter, by a roaring fire in our former Waiting Room, with its 20ft vaulted ceiling. The Old Railway Station has something for every discerning traveller, looking for something different.

The Old Station , Petworth is an oasis of calm. The restored Pullman Carriages are first rate, timeless and very comfortable. The current restrictions surrounding Covid 19 were observed very well with the best made of them regarding the breakfast service. Thank you very much.

I will be honest, I want to keep this special place a secret because it is so lovely. But reluctantly I am sharing it. We stayed in Bluebell Cottage and it is enchanting. We had a welcome gift of a bottle of wine, tea bags, shortcake biscuits and a pint of milk. We are looking forward to going back again. Thank you.

We should have been visiting family in Yorkshire so had to come up with a plan B and this was definitely the right decision. The carriage was perfect, very spacious and clean and had everything you needed. Despite the fact we hardly met the staff, due to Covid regulations, the service was very good, we could not fault anything. We were lucky enough to be able to eat our breakfast outside both mornings, it was lovely having a natter with our neighbours, very social. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of food and coffee. We had dinner in Badgers both nights, it was good pub grub, with a particularly lovely Sauvignon Blanc 😋 a tip would be to take a torch with you as the lane is really dark. Also, check out the naughty alcove when you’re in there 😂😱. We had a wonderful little break, and would recommend it to anyone, thanks to all the staff for such a fabulous weekend.

Stayed 3 nights as part of our 25th Anniversary road trip of the south coast ( should have been doing Route66 ! ) the Pullman carriage was beautiful super authentic, with a lovely bathroom, outside dining for breakfast or eat in side your carriage , the main building offers B&B and a tea room / breakfast room and reception ( Ali was a star super friendly and went above and beyond thanks Ali )unfortunately the Tea room was closed due to COVID but if your staying at the station you can order and enjoy on the platform or in room , local Pub 150 meters see separate review , Petworth has many nice shops but we did find some rude and unfriendly, Petworth house though is well worth a visit , really enjoyed our stay at the Station and recommend

We have just spent two nights at this lovely B &B . We stayed in an old railway carriage which was very quaint. Allie was very helpful when an issue came up. I would definitely recommend friends to stay.
