Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for two nights for a family wedding. Angie was a perfect hostess, really welcoming. We had two rooms, twin and double, both were beautifully presented, clean and comfortable with everything you need for a couple of nights. Great cooked breakfast along with choice of cereals and fruit. Beautiful setting. Nick came to our rescue Saturday morning when the taxi we had booked to take us to the wedding didn't turn up. Literally saved the day. Highly recommended, thanks Angie and Nick for a great stay.

I thoroughly recommend Stane House to anyone walking the SDW. It’s a beautiful country house with stunning views. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and go the extra mile to make sure you have a good stay. Fabulous cooked breakfast and very comfortable rooms. Tea in the garden on arrival was a lovely touch and immediately made me feel at home.

We booked here because it was close to a family wedding. We were warmly welcomed by Angie and impressed by the classic cars belonging to her husband! The room was private and beautifully furnished, with a spacious bathroom and a view over fields.
Breakfast was all we could wish for and served in a delightful room with a view of the beautiful garden. Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed overnight in order to attend a nearby family function. The house is lovely, the location outstanding and the accommodation extremely comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome, enjoyed an excellent breakfast and found our stay thoroughly relaxing. It was also excellent value - highly recommended.

We stayed for one night whilst walking the South Downs Way last week and what a delightful experience! The house and gardens are beautiful and Angie and Nick could not have made us feel more welcome. Breakfast was delicious and we were sorry to leave….the best place we stayed on the walk by far!

This is the second time I have stayed at Stane House. it is in a delightfully quiet setting with a very welcoming host, Angie. The property is beautifully decorated throughout with fantastic attention to detail. Perfect location for the South Downs Way and as one night at a time can be booked, unlike a number of others, it is a perfect stopping place if you are walking the trail. An excellent breakfast sets you up well for a day of walking, cycling or sightseeing, all very easy from such a great location. We ate at a pub about 1 mile away called The White Horse in Sutton which was also very good. I am looking forward to coming back very soon.

My friend and I stayed here for one night while walking the south downs way and it was definitely the best b&b we stayed in that week. Angie looked after us superbly and her lovely husband Nick very kindly drove us to the pub and back for dinner. Our room was small but very nice with a lovely view. The gardens are magnificent, we enjoyed having a wander round before we left.

We can't rate this B&B highly enough. Angie & Nick are delightful.
We were visiting with Spanish friends & all of us felt cosseted. The rooms are great, with decoration appropriate to the age of the house. The breakfasts wonderful. The garden is peaceful, lovely for a cup of tea on a warm afternoon after a day sightseeing and the welcome & service so warm but professional too.
We would recommend it to anyone who appreciates quality & peace.

We felt welcome from the moment we got to Stane House. Angie showed us around, offered us refreshments, and although we arrived late afternoon offered to book a table for us at the nearest pub for dinner. Otherwise she left us to our own devices which we really appreciated. We wandered around the stunning gardens and made use of the generous tea and coffee facilities in the room. In the morning, there was a wide range of food available even though we didn't want a cooked breakfast and we were sad to leave!
