We stayed here for 4 nights, exploring the north-west of Tasmania and it was an excellent base. The dining room was popular on week nights (lots of tradies staying for the week) but quiet at the weekend, and although it was "pub food" it was well-prepared, well-priced and great eating. We availed ourselves of the $5 self-serve breakfasts which were...

We stayed and dined at the Menai and we constantly surprised. From the outside, although neat and tidy, this venue looks dated but once inside it become clear tat is is well cared for and very clean. The staff were all just fabulous, all happy and helpful with nothing too much trouble. The food was cheap but top notch and...

Another school holidays which meant another couple of days break for these Nannas and best friends, this time we decided we would like to base ourselves at Burnie and head off to do Penguin markets and then to Stanley for walk around. The weather was not the best but ok, we checked into the Menai Hotel, an older hotel and...

I only needed a place to stay and a meal and both were provided. The staff was most welcoming. Rooms have seen better days. No complaints about the service in the restaurant. Food hit the spot, while not being terribly exciting.

Apart from the tired furniture, basic rooms and old style of the hotel, the menai look after us way above its looks. The owner leigh was fantastic, the beer was cold, the food great and the rooms quiet and clean. We even got to watch some line dancing whilst having dinner one night. Yeah the hotel over all is a...

Needed one nights accomodation. Went to watch the Penguins walking up to their nests on the beach at Burnie which was great to see, Beforehand, rang staff to say we couldn't get the TV working. By the time we got back they had been and fixed the problem. Very dated place. However, cheap price, and our family had a comfortable...

This is a sizeable property, with large function and bar facilities. It was once, possibly, a market leader. At present, the rooms are needing some maintenance and TLC. Coming from decades in hospitality, I understand what this operator is dealing with: ... a fading accommodation property with aged fittings and amenities; At present, it offers clean sheets and basic shelter...

I stayed here in June 2015 and really enjoyed my time. The place has a rustic old school Rooms were simple, clean and comfortable, with firm beds and foxtel channels on the telly. Young Check in staff were friendly and even escorted me to my room. Nice views of Bass Strait and Burnie town out of the window. I loved...
