The location was quiet off the main road with plenty of parking. This was a good price and the room was clean and the bed comfortable. It is NOT a resort. There was a communal lounge room, dinning (breakfast only) and games room. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Thank you for your review. Once renovations are completed, we will be a resort but currently ad you say motel.

This place is not a motel either -it's like a cross between a hostel and a motel. Very strange! We were enticed in by a sign on the road into town advertising 'opening specials', which turned out to only apply to single rooms without bathrooms. Our mistake no.1!
We were greeted at the front desk by a young man wearing a beanie and no shoes who was not very informative about the place and seemed to have difficulty understanding a simple question, such as 'what time is check out?' He eventually said 'between 9 and 11am'.
We stayed 2 nights (mistake no.2!) in a double room with ensuite on the ground floor beside the side exit door. The room was very small although the bathroom was quite spacious. The bed dipped in the middle, there were no flyscreens on the windows, there was only 1 chair and the room was not serviced. The light over the vanity basin was not connected, the TV aerial cord went out through the window and the artwork looked like it had come from the local op shop.
Breakfast was not provided or available. There was a large dining room with many tables and chairs but no food served! There was tea, coffee, hot water and 3 toasters, with milk and butter in the fridge, but I didn't see any plates or cutlery.
Our room, however, had a fridge, microwave, bowls, plates and cutlery, but no detergent or tea towel provided. It's on the other side of the river to the main part of town and there are no restaurants or cafes nearby.
Free Wi fi, but only available in the lounge area.
There is plenty of outside parking.
I don't recommend staying there unless you are desperate!

We were given room 406 and logic would say that we would push button 4 in the lift: nope button 3! That was the start of our rather interesting stay. This accommodation has shared facilities but there concept of male and female segregation is not something that they have dealt with as yet. Being two boofy motorcyclists we did not want to unduely startle any females but walking into the communal toilets or showers so I asked what the protocol was. It would appear that the ladies were to use the showers and toilets on level 3 while we used level 4. It seemed to work as there were no blood curdling screams when I walked into the showers. This place is a very new conversion of the doctors and nurses quarters that were part of the old insane asylum that covered many, many acres. Clean and very tidy. This whole grounds of the Asylum are a very interesting make up of old deserted buildings and new housing. Definitely befuddling.

My fiancé and I stayed here for 4 nights during our vacation to Tasmania and we absolutely loved it! We stayed in a double room with shared bathrooms (very clean, lots of showers and toilets on each floor) . The room was very nice and inviting, perfect to relax after a long day of traveling and exploring the beautiful nature. The location was perfect - a Woolworths just around the corner, fast food places (McDonalds, a few pizza places), nice restaurants (Asian/pub food) and above all very close to attractions.
The staff were very friendly and cared to all of our needs. The rooms were nice and tidy, and there is even a free laundry service which was great for us after being a while on the road!
Would highly recommend!

Recently stayed at the Derwent Valley Resort for a few days of whilst my dad was in Royal Hobart Hospital unexpectedly.
Upon arriving we noticed a beautiful garden landscape that was well maintained and tidy and more than enough parking and so close not miles away to lug your suitcase!!!

To start with, absolutely fantastic incredible service from the very start!!
The Manager and his Wife waited up until 1230am to let us in (as we had a long drive from North West Coast of 4 hours), they showed us our room and continually mentioning he was more than happy to help in anyway he could during our time down here. Which they most certainly did!

Upon entering our room, we walked into a beautiful designed setting with a very calm soothing effect (just what I needed considering!) and JUST WOW!
We had everything we needed in the suite to live here!
A bed that was and is the most comfiest bed we have ever slept on, soft beautiful sheets and doona and bedside tables with touch lamps to make everything easier!
A heater to keep us warm during the winter months, cooking accessories and everything included you would need, a fridge AND freezer, kettle and so much more! Even a beautiful dining room table to eat our meals at.
We had a HUGE flat screen TV with fantastic reception with every channel included and all ready to go for us to use.
Next, after drooling over our beautiful suite we opened the door to the bathroom. Once again...JUST WOW!!!
Beautiful design and setting, gorgeous basin with a large mirror AND a miniature mirror for us ladies!
We had everything down to a hair dryer, soap, shampoo, conditioner and even body wash scented with beautiful aleo vera! (and not just those pathetic mini pouches you get at every other hotel suite, actual size bottles of all!)
The shower itself was huge and more than enough room for 2! Absolutely perfect, with an easy to control temperature setting and beautiful glass sliding door for easy access.

I have stayed at 5 star hotels in Las Vegas before, and this hotel and suite definitely matched up!

Sam, Steve's partner continually kept everything fresh with new linen, towels and anything more we couldve needed and I never saw them stop working to make our stay easier!!

Some more added bonuses included free wifi for your use at any time!
A huge and beautiful lounge/sitting area with an even bigger flat screen TV to watch your channels on if you wanted to! With more than enough space and couches and arm chairs (and ooh so comfy, I had to try them all out after sitting in 1!!)
Off to the side we found some even more awesome touches, a Wreck Room with the largest pool table we've ever seen, and another massive flat screen TV with even more comfy sitting areas included, with magazines and so much more!
Upon looking further (if in our suite wasnt enough) we found another fully decked out dining and kitchen area with everything you could need once again and in a beautiful setting!!

All in all our lengthy stay here was absolutely fantastic and incredible!! We were treated with 5 star service and so much more!!
During an utter most difficult time in our lives, we couldnt have asked for anything better, it was perfect.
I will definitely be recommending to everyone and anyone that comes down to Hobart to stay here at the Derwent Valley Resort!!!
Thank you Steve and Sam for our amazing stay and making us feel so welcomed!!

We have just rebooked this wonderful resort. We stayed for 4 nights last time and couldn't have asked for a better place. The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We had a family room which had a separate kitchen, dining room with bunk beds and a large separate bedroom. Everything is clean and good value for money.

Let it be known! This is NOT anything like a resort!
The photos on the website are nothing like the real thing. Our room at $115 per night was extremely ordinary. The "Resort" was a hospital in a previous life and it really does still feel like it. It even has the high security section out the back. The view from our window shows the security compound with the barbed wire fence. The room was clean but it was like living inside a speaker box. You heard absolutely every noise in adjacent rooms, the corridor and in the rooms above. It made it extremely difficult to sleep. There was no ventilation whatsoever in the room, not even a portable fan, so it was unbearably stuffy. If you opened the window to get some breeze, it let the bugs in as there were no insect screens. In fact, not even any security. The free WiFi didn't even register on our devices. The complimentary toiletries were are bar of soap and a sanitary bag.
The complex was surrounded by vandalised derelict buildings and in a low socio-economic housing commission area.
I could go on and on.
The bottom line is....... go elsewhere!!!!
