The web site describes the Madsen as "Situated in the heart of the Penguin Coast in majestic North West Tasmania with breathtaking views over Bass Strait." - we could not agree more! Snuck away for a night with my wife, being able to leave the kids with their grandparents for the evening. We stayed in the Penthouse room which was...

Happened upon the Madsen by chance and ended up in the best (and most expensive) room in the house as a special treat to finish off our holiday. Room was great except for having to climb steps to get to the bathroom - a challenge especially in the middle of the night in the dark. Also we were there on...

Not impressed. Arrived at 3.30pm and no one at Reception. Rang and after 5 minutes was guided through the front door to the ground floor room. On opening the door ( towards you in narrow hall, trying to get suit cases through the door wasn't good, small because the bed and stool were at the door. Once inside, door opened...

We are deeply sorry this guest was unhappy with his stay with us. Reception is usually attended, but when not attended, we send a text message to guests who have made a prior booking, giving them the access code into the hotel, with their keys, check-in form and breakfast menu awaiting them at the reception counter. I do recall this...

would love to have spent longer here. Great location, beautiful room, comfy bed. Freshly ground coffee, complimentary chocolates, port, sherry. Very, very nice. Breakfast was delicious and served with a smile. Would highly recommend.

Stayed here in a std room overnight for a school reunion, the rooms are lovely (Std room small so I would upgrade next time) but just lovely. Everything was well appointed throughout the old bank converted into a hotel and they had an honour system with the bar. Wow only in lovely Tassie can you do that! The port and...

The Madsen is a former bank in the quaint seaside town of Penguin, in Tasmania. Originally built in 1902, the building has now been converted into a small hotel, with an emphasis on quality and service. Phil greeted us on arrival, with a warm welcome. He booked us in and showed us to our ground floor room, the former bank...

Because of some mistake by another place, we have been relocated to The Madsen Hotel. The stay was good, especially their service! After we checked in, the owner took us to our room and explained everything from how to use their lock on the door to what there is in the room we can enjoy. In the room there are...

He ensured we had all the accoutrements we needed to have a wonderful night & full breakfast in the morning. I had had an injured foot & hip & the owner was very kind to help me w my bags...
