Our visit with 8 Hours Day long weekend public holiday. St Marys is a quiet village. One of the owners thoroughly briefed us on local facilities & gave me a lesson in starting the pot belly stove. The secret is to use lots of news paper to create sufficient heat to dry the fire wood. There was breakfast cereals &...

Arriving up the hilly gravel track to find the way barred by a gate we just knew we'd picked the right place! Continue through the tall trees and up to the owners' house and you'll find Peter coming out to give you a warm welcome. After a few minutes to settle in to your chalet (there are just three, but...

These Eco Chalets are individual timber cottages, built high on the escarpment, with fabulous views right down to the east coast of Tasmania , & the beaches of the Bay of Fires . They are clean, warm ( pot belly wood fire) & very thoughtfully equipped .... Everything we needed was there ..... The green credentials of this place are...

Bliss! Lovely chalets So quiet and remote but still close to the cute village of St Mary's We stayed just two nights and loved the cool nights beside the pot belly fire. The clouds covering the forest made for a different panorama to the stunning morning sea views Very clean and well maintained cabin with excellent host The morning and...

We spent two nights here in December during a nine day tour of Tasmania. The owner Peter was very welcoming and helpful on arrival, which allowed us to get a good feel of the area and what things of interest to look out for, in particular the local wildlife. Our cabin was wonderfully cosy and although we didn't think that...

Our cottage was cute, clean and brilliantly equipped for self-catering. Massive green credentials (ie 12V solar power) and lovely pot belly stove. Superb bed and linen and gorgeous home baked bread on arrival. Just loved the squadron of wallabies outside the door each morning showing off their beautiful joeys! Can't fault the cottage. Stayed three nights and longed to stay...

The photos don't lie! In fact they don't do the views any justice. We chose Lumera at St Marys, as it was central to all the east coast towns we wanted to visit and it was in a quiet, out of the way place. When we arrived, the owners were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. They told...

We recently stayed for two nights in one of the Lumera chalets. The setting was sublime, surrounded by bush with an ocean view in the distance.. The emphasis on conservation with solar power in place was much appreciated. The evening meals prepared by Ian were delicious and we enjoyed both the salmon and the beef burgundy. Portions were substantial and...

We stayed here one evening as part of our cycle tour down the East Coast of Tasmania and it was a lovely and authentic experience. The setting is spectacular - you're set away in the bushland surrounded by nature. The wallabies come at sunset to get a feed from the bag of food provided in your room, which is a...

We were a little bit apprehensive as we drove through charred bushland on our approach to Lumera Eco Chalets. But our concerns were quickly put to rest. Our charming host explained about a bushfire which had raged through the area only days before and urged us (if we wanted to) to feed the locals, which included wallabies and paddy melons....
