Maree is a generous, knowledgeable, passionate host and was dedicated to provide a great accommodation to her guests. Her lodge is full of complimentary food. She didn't accept booking after we booked the lodge so we could have the whole lodge to ourselves. She demonstrated her strong knowledge and passion for the forest during the guided forest walk which is...

Thank you for your very kind words. I am glad you enjoyed your stay here. I do really love what I do, so most of the time it really doesn't feel like work. I am a great lover of animals too and your generous tip will be donated to one of the many causes we support out here at the...

We spent a night here on our way to Smithton and it was an experience that we will always remember. Marie welcomed us into the lodge that they had hand built from timber milled on site then took us into her little bit of paradise explaining the trees , the fungi ,and the ferns as well as the local history....

In the middle of nowhere this place was our perfect getaway from the noisy world. What a wonderful host Maree and an excellent guide through the temperate rainforest and boy there are some giants in there. I can't recommend this enough!

It isn't easy to get to but it was harder to leave. Last bit of the trip is gravel road and then you are at this gorgeous lodge. Once the car is off the only sounds you hear are nature. Our host, Marie, is a marvel of nature herself. We took the option of having her cook dinner for us...

Staying at the Tarkine Wilderness Lodge was the best part of our recent month touring Tasmania. I was a little surprised when the owner contacted us, a few days prior to our trip north from Hobart, asking what we'd like in the 'fridge. Once there though I realised how far we were from the shops. Not only did the owner...

What an amazing experience, to stay at this lodge. Once booked you and your party are the only ones staying at the lodge. It consists of 3 bedrooms, a large dining area, a large lounge area,(completely decked out with everything you can imagine, games books, TV, sound system), and a huge kitchen, all of this with huge windows overlooking the...

My mother, father, husband and myself stayed for 2 nights at Tarkine Wilderness Lodge as a special 80th Birthday treat for my Dad. We had already enjoyed memorable experiences in the Tarkine having spent time at Corinna and the Piemann River and the lodge certainly provided a fitting finale! The owner and host, Maree, went out of her way to...

Just beyond the gorgeous timbered lodge is another world - according to Maree "the real world" - full of towering myrtles, Blackwood, sassafras and eucalypts above the rainforest floor. We also saw a platypus, echidna and a tiger snake and at night walking back from a Tasmanian devil watch, numerous wallabies scattering around. The lodge is on cleared land on...

“There are three rooms. All are good. There is no shop or cafes near by but the lodge is well equipped and there is plenty of food to make or Maree will cook for you. Some days there was no mobile signal strength. It does require travel on a well maintained dirt road.”
