Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The shampoo dispenser was empty, but the trash can was full. We were disappointed with the overall cleanliness of our room. The bathroom was not clean, there was no hand soap, nor shampoo or conditioner in the shower. The bathroom trash hadn’t been emptied, and the tub floor had a rust stain under the shower. The rest of the room was fine, but didn’t give that really well cleaned feeling. The pillows were terrible. Overall, we will pick somewhere else to stay next time.

Hotel's Favourite
Our first time at this hotel and we were pleasantly surprised! Full disclosure, it’s the older style hotel that has the rooms all looking down to a central lounge/eating area. But they have clearly been trying to keep it current. We had a corner double and other than the shelving under the bathroom vanity in our room being slightly older, the other furniture, fixtures and lamps seemed fairly new. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. We also had a bigger tv on the wall in the living room than we expected. The staff members were courteous, as well. Would stay here again.

Upon check-in we had to switch rooms due to about a dozen hairs in one of the beds. Our new room had clean sheets, however the carpets and window treatments were stained and some of the bedding and shower curtain has tears in the fabric. We are usually Marriott customers, but decided to try Hilton this time because our kids wanted a pool (the local Marriott’s pool was closed) and so we tried Embassy. The pool water was so murky and disgusting we didn’t feel comfortable letting our kids swim. It literally looked like dirty swamp water. Breakfast was complimentary, however it was accompanied by the sound of everyone’s sticking shoes throughout the entire food area. The floor has layers of dark dirt that were in desperate need of a deep clean. Breakfast was underwhelming (they ran out of milk). Filthy breakfast counters, one with a long hair, were never cleaned in the 30 minutes we were there. The lady working the breakfast area announced “60 seconds!!!” repetitively before the 10am sharp closing and stood within the half closed door. Talk about feeling rushed and unwelcome! We sat down with our breakfast and at 10:00am an employee came around to tables to ask everyone to please clear their own plates and stack them on a cart as the staff was going on break. Who plans their staff break at the busiest time of breakfast?? Very poor management and cleanliness overall. The only thing lovely about breakfast was the sweet singing man making omelets. He was great!

BED BUGS! Stay away! The general manager was extremely rude and both my sisters and I have been independently dealing with bed bug removal in our own homes after this trip. NOT WORTH IT!!! The room was dirty but we didn’t complain because it was an inexpensive hotel but now we have to pay for exterminators and it is so expensive. I wish I would have looked up other reviews because bed bugs is clearly a common theme!

A beautiful hotel, room was very clean and quiet. The front desk agent Linda was very professional and friendly, making feel me so welcome. The complimentary breakfast a plus and housekeeping was very nive. Highly recommend anyone planning a stay in Independence for business or pleasure, because I know I will again.

The room had a very strong odor of marijuana that wasn’t going away. After looking around we found a bag of marijuana in the drawer! Luckily it was found by adults & not a child! Clearly the room wasn’t cleaned well! Called the front desk & the best they could do is move us to the room next door! Staff was overall not very friendly & if you asked for anything from the front desk they were irritated & you had to go to them to pick it up. Very run down & unclean hotel; not a typical Embassy hotel!

Broken light fixtures, missing light bulbs. Refrigerator freezer was frozen over. No streaming services for TV. No sheets for sofa bed. No towels for 3rd guest. Had to go to front desk to pick up extra linens because they said housekeeping staff had gone home for the day and reception refused to bring them to the room.  Several (3+) hotel staff stood around the front desk doing nothing other than talking to themselves while I waited several minute to be acknowledged for our spare linens.  Spare blanket was stained. Lots of stains on carpet in room. Was given drink and snack tickets during check in to find out later that they were only good until 7pm. Bar staff was rude. Youth hockey teamed booked rooms the same night and several families were kicked out because of misbehaving players and drunk and belligerent parents.  6+ police officers were in attendance because of the altercation. Security guard was rude and handled the situation poorly and unprofessionally. Leftover food was all over tables and floors in the dining area and was that way for several hours. We had to reserve a time slot to use the pool which only allowed for 45 mins of swim time.  Couldn't use because available time slots weren't ideal for our family. Despite our King Suite rooms being spacious, the hotel is setup courtyard style where every room is exposed to central corridor and everyroom which led to a very noisey evening and morning inside (and outside) of our room. We very rarely stay in Hilton hotels because of the price but decided to spurge on this hotel because it looked nice and wanted a special stay for my wife's birthday.  Couldn't have been more disappointed.  Will not stay in a Hilton hotel again especially when we can spend half the price on a nice Marriot or Choice hotel with much better customer service and atmosphere.

The only good thing I can say is they have a great employee named Isabella. She was polite and helpful. And the omelet guy is awesome. But the rest of it was not so great.... 1. BEDBUGS! In our first room 2. Dirty the second room I had to borrow thier vacuum to clean the floor beacuse there was dried takeout and crumbs and rise all over the floor. The comforter was bloodstained. 3. You must make a reservation to use the pool 4. You can't eat in the atrium unless it is thier food. (They said it was an Ohio health code violation). 5. Rude staff. ( but this does not include Isabella, she was amazing). 6. Was guaranteed a certain floor at booking and they did not honor it.

Terrible experience lobby shuts down at 1030. Called police, whom can’t do anything unless it’s an eviction, to make people go to their rooms staff very unkind or helpful. Would not give out bedding for pullout couches worst experience

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place is a bit dated, but like every other embassy suites we have stayed in. The bed was clean and comfortable, although the pillows were really soft and squished down to almost nothing when you laid on them. The bathroom was clean and aside from a number of repairs to the floor tiles, was in good shape. The shower had plenty of water pressure as well as soap, shampoo, and conditioner. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast which includes made to order omlettes. They served good coffee from Starbucks and the food was all hot and fresh. My only complaint was that the upholstered furniture in the front room had a number of weird stains and we were not comfortable sitting there. Aside from that, we are planning to stay here again when we visit Cleveland.
