My husband and I went to Marietta Ohio in October of 2016 to see the many points of history. It rained almost the entire weekend, but we loved Marietta and all of the places there were to see. I had seen the Lafayette Hotel on-line but was a bit apprehensive about booking a room since the hotel is older. Well,...

This is a charming hotel on the river in downtown Marietta. The staff are friendly and parking is adjacent or on the street. The hotel is quirky - decor can range from 'riverboat period' to 'art deco'. This is part of the charm of the hotel for me. The hotel is dated and in need of updating, but it is...

This was a rare experience and at a good price. Not everything was perfect, but you don't expect that in an old/classic hotel. I fully expected Mark Twain to walk into the lobby! Really enjoyed the stay along the riverfront, the ornate decoration, the historical context, the friendly people, and the wonderful breakfast. The room was quiet, dark, and temp...

We arrived at the Lafayette hotel on a cold November night. It is a quaint old hotel right next to the Ohio river. First thing we notice was the windows open in the lobby and wondered about that because it we only 36 degrees outside. We got our room key on the 4th floor and went up. The hallway was...

I'm so sorry you had a bad experience during your stay at the Lafayette Hotel. The Hotel is heated with a Boiler and unfortunately the hallways can get quite warm in the winter time. I'm not sure however why you where told that the "furnace is not working right" ?? as I am not aware of any issues we are...

First time I have not cooked dinner at home. Hubby made reservation for their thanksgiving buffet. Food was over the top spectacular. Waitor was fabulous, drinks were kept full, plates removed from table has soon has you finished. Could not have ask for any thing better. Was a very comfortable relaxing dinner will do again.

My motorcycle buddies and I who enjoy the twisty Southeastern Ohio roads surrounding Marietta ALWAYS choose to stay at The Lafayette. They just don't build them like this anymore. The architecture and old steamboat motifs are incredible. The bar and lounge area takes you back to a completely different era (late 1800's, early 1900's). We had the good fortune to...

An old hotel with an interesting history - the foyer has a lot of exhibits. Staff not overly friendly but efficient. Room a long walk from the elevator. Small, especially with 2 twin beds but beautiful furniture - especially the desk. Had a lovely view of the river. Overall very comfortable.

Stayed in the Penthouse Suite 348 over Halloween. Beautiful corner view of the river with a nice breeze. Watched the barges go by nightly. The penthouse is the highest point and has three rooms for availability with a large private rooftop deck accessible for those rooms. Family stayed in one of the other suites and it was like having our...

This place is pretty neat. it is cheap as well. It is an old building with a lot of interesting history. The breakfast was quite good. The place has a Mark Twain feel to it. I stayed in a single room and it was made to look and feel like you were in a berth on a riverboat. Overall a...
