The owners write that Riverdog is unique. How true that is! Riverdog consists of an art gallery and workshop, an old barn (now a venue for music events) and four fully equipped rental properties, located amid 20 beautiful acres of forest bordering the Vermillion river. The properties are rustic on the outside, and beautifully decorated on the inside. They have...

Riverdog Retreat is the perfect blend of quiet relaxation, exposure to the arts (musical and visual), and gracious hospitality. My husband and I just spent our second weekend at Riverdog, having discovered its many charms in the summer of 2015. Our first visit was highlighted by a concert on the grounds. This year we made sure a concert was scheduled...

My wife and I spent another relaxing weekend at the Riverdog Retreat while visiting our daughter at Oberlin. Beautiful accommodations and outdoor surroundings. Terry and Deborah are great hosts, and the dogs on the property are a delight.

Had a wonderful couple's weekend away, staying in the Cedar House. The house itself was fantastic but it's the beautiful surrounding outdoors that really makes this a wonderful place to stay. The area is so large, with many private-feeling areas to just relax and let the hours float away, that it's pretty much impossible to retain any pre-vacation stresses. The...

If you enjoy privacy surrounded by nature, beautiful art and comfortable and spacious accommodations, look no further. The hosts, Terry and Deborah, are very welcoming and helpful, but not intrusive. Just a visit to their gallery is worth the trip to Riverdog Retreat. We enjoyed the quiet, the dogs and cats and the chance to re-charge. If you have a...

I have so many wonderful things to say about Riverdog Retreat that it is difficult to compose this review. If I could leave 6 out of 5 stars, I would, because the owners really go above and beyond to make Riverdog unique and beautiful, and your stay special. My boyfriend and I spent our first weekend here a year ago...

My husband's family gathered here in August. If we could have fit everyone into Riverdog, we would have but there were too many of us. Our hosts are topnotch people and went out of their way to be helpful. We normally stay at the Cedar House and Suite but it was booked so some of us stayed at the Settler's...

This is a bed and breakfast type place, not a hotel. My wife and I stayed here for her birthday weekend. We stayed in the Cedar suite. It was very spacious and bigger than expected. Had a fridge, little kitchenette and was very cozy. Plenty to do around the area. We zip lined at Common Canopy Tours the next day...

My wife and I just got married in Oberlin and we used the riverdog retreat as our base of operations! It was so much fun, and it was SO BEAUTIFUL. Also the couple that runs it is absolutely amazing. Friendly and helpful. We got lucky and had live music playing on site a couple nights before the wedding. Great music,...

We stayed at Riverdog Retreat last weekend for the first time. Hidden off the road, you find enchanting gardens & top notch accommodations. We stayed in the Settler's House & a friend stayed in the Cedar Suite. Upon arrival we were greeted by Terry, Deborah, & the pups -all were very welcoming & informative. The house's were extremely clean &...

“Just FYI, I put down theres good restaurant in the area. This is true if you know where to go. For all your eating needs head to Oberlin. I've lived all over the world and Oberlin literally has the best breakfast place AND bar. In the world. No joke. Theres an unreasonable amount of great restaurants for such a small town. Pizza, burritos, etcetc”
