Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Switched to here from Campbell House, so happy! Great place. #1 b&b in Eugene. Pleasant staff, fair and trustworthy. Really matters to stay with people you trust in a small hotel environment. Show the appreciation.

I can't say enough good things about this B&B. It was utterly CHARMING, and we had an incredibly enjoyable stay! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the room was homey, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was elegant and simple, with delicious lattes. The place was always quiet and secure. We hope to stay there again when we visit next year!!!!!!! Thank you Maurizio & Autumn Paparo for this amazing experience!

What a lovely treasure! We are so grateful that we found this beautiful inn so close to campus. While the bed and pillows were too hard for our tastes, we loved the welcoming fireplace and gorgeous room we discovered when we opened our room door. Breakfast was classy and tasty. It was a great stop in Eugene.

Our new hotel in Eugene! After all the plastic chain motels we’ve stayed at, this is a treasure! European in style and feel. Very secure with locked gates front and rear. Staff treats you like family (only better).

I stayed at the Excelsior Inn while I was visiting my daughter at UO. It is located a few hundred feet from the campus and close to restaurants, UO store, coffee, etc. Great customer service, receptionist was very helpful and friendly. I stayed in the Puccini room and was so impressed with the charm and cleanliness. The furniture was antique and well loved. Great amenities, coffee maker, wine glasses/bottle opener, a writing desk, phone, flat screen tv, sitting chair and beautiful closet. I've stayed at the Inn on 5th and this was just as lovely! Thank you for an incredible stay.

I picked the Excelsior Inn because I had fond memories of having dessert and coffee there decades ago when I attended the U of O. This hotel is in a prime location very close to the campus and downtown, so if that's what you need, you will not be disappointed. The hotel has some quirks, but the quirkiness and homey feeling, along with the wonderful staff, more than make up for any minor inconveniences. Breakfast was pretty much the same the four days we were there and could use a bit more variety. The coffee was outstanding, though, and hit the spot in the morning. I would definitely stay here again!

Very cute, intimate place that is mid-sized so also offers good privacy. Everything was well done and very clean; quaintly old but fully up-to-date. Breakfast items and location were quite good. Too bad restaurant is no longer operable as it would have been a great place to have dinner. It would be a great shame to lose this wonderful place in Eugene. For our future visits (granddaughter attending UofO) will definitely include this place as long as it exists.

I was in the tiniest room. It was as advertised, well appointed, quiet and comfortable. Only glitch was the cold water faucet needs assistance. The staff both evening and morning were cordial, helpful and well trained. The breakfast was far superior to most hotel offerings. The entrance is through the 13th Street alley. The alley is populated with abandoned mattresses, spilled garbage and broken glass. I suggest the hotel be vigilant and have code enforcement brought to bear on offenders. I am certain that the mess was not something Eugene regulations allow. I would not have stayed had I seen the alley first and already had a non refundable reservation.

Don't stay here, that is. A cold water tap that was impossible to turn on The pokiest room I have ever stayed in - I'm fine with a small, basic room, but this was ridiculous. It should be reconfigured with a single bed and marketed as such. Terrible parking situation Inadequate a/c No laundry bag No pen or paper Surely the cheapest, crappiest coffee machine available to humankind Unmarked identical containers for soap and ? No mini fridge No "Extra blanket and pillow in (the non-existent) armoire" What I thought was a compressor but turned out to be the noisiest ice machine in the world waking me up throughout the night The pokiest room I have ever stayed in - I'm fine with a small, basic room, but this was ridiculous. It should be reconfigured with a single bed and marketed as such.

Great place to stay, clean and comfortable room and beds, very helpful staff and parking included. Lovely homemade banana bread, granola, cappuccinos etc for breakfast. Great value for money compared to other places in Eugene. Good location where you can walk to river, university or downtown area.
