I stayed two nights at this hostel. Great staff, cool backyard plus a kitchen with breakfast included. It's pretty easy to access by bus and the neighborhood is supposed to be a cool one. You do get lots of restaurants nearby. There is a grocery store very close. On the negative side, I was in the Bagby single room which...

Hello Madmax, Thanks for your leaving a review. I appreciate your feedback. FYI- we have repaired that door closure, so it is closing much less hard now... Also we have redone the signage on the front porch, so people shouldn't be smoking out there. Glad you can recommend us though! Happy Travels, Talbot HI- Portland Hawthorne Hostel

i stayed here for two nights and loved it. It is comfortable and value-for-money. the beds and bathrooms are all clean and well-maintained, and the hostel has several eco-friendly features. Hostel staff Michelle was very helpful with a number of questions I had, and the hostel staff also took care my suitcase, which arrived late from the airport. the location...

I had a good stay here. Hostel was clean, staff were friendly. Location is in a hipster part of town id say. There is some good bars and restaurants nearby including a Cuban restaurant over that road we particularly enjoyed. It's easy enough to get downtown as a bus goes past the hostel which takes you right there in 10/15...

I LOVED this hostel. The staff were incredibly friendly, the people staying there provided a real sense of community, and the hostel was close enough to downtown that it was easy to get to but not so close that the noise of downtown got in the way of the peace. Free breakfast, great common areas, lots of information available to...

Good location, friendly staff. Clean tidy rooms with some great shared areas. A great front porch to watch the World go by. Was fully booked the night I stayed and from talking to staff, is pretty much always that way. Book well in advance to secure your bed - definitely not one to turn up at without a booking.

The hostel was in a really nice neighbourhood with convenient transit, and a good noise level. The staffs were very helpful with transportation and touring tips. It was under HI and had all the traveling information of other HI hostels as well. Rooms and washrooms were very clean. The common room was nicely kept with computer access. The kitchen was...

I stayed here while attending a conference. The staff were exceptionally helpful and welcoming. The light breakfast was s nice added bonus and the coffee was excellent. This place was in a great location and made my trip affordable. The only thing is that the bathrooms were not as clean as I have witnessed in other hostels

Greetings and thanks for taking the time to make a review! We appreciate your perspective and we're pleased that you enjoyed your stay here. Sorry if the bathrooms weren't up to par, we'll definitely work on that and make sure they are acceptable in the future. Honestly, we haven't had many complaints regarding that, we are an older building, so...

My review is a little late, I stayed here last summer with my husband and 10 year old son in a private room. Everything was clean, safe, and it's affordable. Met other travelers during our stay and had interesting conversations (which we would probably not have in a regular hotel). Good area for shops/restaurants/coffee. Hostels are not just for 20...

I very much liked staying at the hostel as it felt like staying in a house, something that feels good when you are travelling for a long time. The interior was nice and colourful. The rooms had wooden beds with OK mattresses and were spacious. Breakfast was ok and they have free tea and coffee all day long, which was...
