Traditional historic landmark in the center of Portland. Very friendly staff. Location in downtown Portland is fantastic. Our kids felt like they were stepping back in time when we walked through the gold and glass doors.

Booked a train ride and two nights at the Benson. We had the best time! Food, customer service, rates, nearby entertainment, and the smoking lounge at the El Goucho with table-side salad was so much fun - everything was great, and we will be back.

Absolutely loved the Benson! Perfectly situated in Downtown Portland, Oregon and just a short walk to so many local attractions! The room was immaculate and the service was certainly top notch. Ending the evening in the grand lobby bar is a must!Simply a wonderful place.

This hotel is one of the nicest in Portland and we enjoy staying there! You get great value for your money! They offer valet parking and alway had my car ready and waiting. Dark colors, heavy interior, movies beeing recorded while we were visiting (The serial The Librerian?). Good service, very expensive breakfast. In the midst of the center, so good location. Very good beds, and quiet for beeing in the center. (Of course there were some noise, but really not bad). Maybe stay off the main street. Mostly older people staying. Valley...

The cleaning staff did a great job and when I had a small request and took care of it immediately. The meeting area was easy to navigate and clean. The...

Our second visit and we weren't disappointed. A wonderful lobby, attentive and knowledgable staff in the bar/bistro and a lovely room with a comfortable bed, nice linen etc etc. . Even if you don't stay here you should visit to see the lobby.

We stayed to celebrate my wife's 65th birthday, just the two of us. Staff gave us a free upgrade to celebrate our special occasion! Breakfast at the Palm Court was delicious. Love the ambience of this fine hotel, which looks and feels much newer than it's age.

First time here, beautiful grand hotel. Still has original Italian Marble floors and staircase, exquisite Austrian crystal chandeliers, and rare, now extinct, Circassian Walnut lobby walls and pillars from Imperial Russia. (Got this info from a history hand-out sheet from a friendly staff-member, in response to all my questions). Although this hotel is over one hundred years old, this is...

“The mattress is heavenly.”

“This hotel is very much to my taste. I like beautiful old furnishings and rooms, everything was clean, the bathroom was compact but very nicely appointed and fun to use (good shower). You could walk to many interesting spots -- Powell's City of Books, a cool sculpture of what may have been an elephant, the Columbia River and its parks. Many good restaurants nearby, including Mother's Bistro. The light rail line is a block or two away, i.e., convenient. Although I had a view of air vents, I didn't mind it because there was no noise (industrial view, but quiet, and I care more about quiet). The bed was very comfortable, the service great, the food they served was excellent and the waiters helpful and unobtrusive. I asked for directions a couple of times at the front desk, and they were helpful on that. The windows opened! a rare find and much appreciated. I really enjoyed staying here.”
