I read the previous 20 reviews on TA for perspective before writing this, so I'll attempt to address the main pros and cons mentioned: 1. Its like a youth hostel. - Yes, kind of but only in the best way possible. YH's can be very grotty but The Ace is quite slick. It's utalitarian-chic I guess? I liked it. 2....

Having seen the Ace on Portlandia i was expecting it to be painfully hip and obviously the place is cool but the welcome was friendly and we felt at home rather than on edge.We got upgraded on arrival and so had a large suite with separate lounge including nice extras like biscuits, tea with honey and of course the vinyl...

This is a fantastic looking hotel, really buzzing on arrival then once I'd checked in I realised that I was directly above the speakers for the bar downstairs meaning bass thuds 4pm till 12am every night, then in the morning garbage trucks and deliveries are crashing about from 7am. The breakfast isn't worth $12 but downstairs the Stumptown Coffee is...

Staying at the Ace Hotel was the single worst experience of my entire 5 night stay in Portland. Had there been other options available for less than $300 a night I would have moved after the first day. I'm stunned by the positive reviews here. No amount of "good service" can make up for dreadful accommodations. Calling it a youth...

This was my second stay at Ace Hotel Portland and it was a short one at just one night. I was pleasantly reminded as to why I returned. This building has an unmistakable charm about it and the staff match it with friendly attitude and a high level of service. Our room was immaculate and the view is fantastic. We...

A bit like the girlfriend experience. This appears to be a hotel in which you can relive some past missed experiences. In this case it is pretending you are in a hostel in Europe or Asia. The bed was very hard. I didn't really notice the noise. But we did have an inside window view. Of a wall. The staff...

Love the decor and convenience of this hotel! There's a coffee shop and a bar/restaurant right downstairs, and both are awesome! You could stay here and not leave the hotel and have all of your needs met. The hotel has several areas that are ideal for the co-working set. I was on a trip with my husband for fun, but...

We returned to the Ace Hotel after staying here last summer and had a room with a shared bathroom. Once again this arrangement worked great, we never once waited to use the bathroom and it was always spotless with fresh towels and linen. However, the rest of the hotel felt in need of a bit of touch up. I understand...

We booked a room with a private bathroom. The common understanding of a private bathroom is a facilty outside of the room with exclusive usage. It turned out, however, that we we're given a shared bathroom available to 4 other rooms. The receptionist explained that when Ace says 'private' it means a shared bathroom that can be locked while you're...
