From the moment you walk in one immediately notices the concierge staff's helpfulness and courteousness. The complimentary breakfast is not gourmet but more than adequate....the 24/7 coffee and 3 pm homemade chocolate chip cookies were unexpectedly habit forming! The king matress was superb! Location to the Pearl District, the Maxline, and theaters is primo!!!

Thank you for mentioning some of our favorite things, too! I'm happy you were able to enjoy our fresh baked cookies in the afternoon. They're a tasty pick-me-up and habit forming! Add to that our complimentary wine reception, featuring Oregon wines, and you're ready for the evening ahead! It's nice to hear you enjoyed a good night's rest. Our guestroom...

This hotel has incredibly warm and friendly staff and is in a great location. However the rooms are badly in need of an update! The room we stayed in was cramped and looked like an old apartment that hasn't been updated since the 60s. Leaving aside the purely cosmetic complaints, my biggest problem was the TINY bathroom with nowhere to...

I called the hotel saying my husband was ill. They found a room on a busy weekend, and met me at the door. Their service is exceptionally warm and supportive. At least some rooms are suites with kitchenettes. For us, being steps from Powell Books was a wonderful surprise, with some of Portland's best restaurants, and food carts nearby. Serving...

I'm happy we were able to accommodate you and your husband during his illness. It's extremely troublesome when you're away from home and become ill. The Mark Spencer staff takes great pride in their ability to serve others - especially when the unexpected happens. Thank you for allowing us to serve you and your husband. I hope he's on the...

From it's old-world charm and history, to it's unbelievably comfortable beds and silky soft bedding, the Mark Spenser was a wonderful surprise. The complimentary 5 o'clock "Happy Hour" with its wonderful munchies and selection of local wines was an added bonus, as it was a nice way to meet and speak to other guests in the hotel. Overall a wonderful...

The Mark Spencer Hotel does have a rich history with many interesting stories. - including a talking parrot! We are the oldest hotel in Portland and some of the artwork displayed in our lobby shows the changes over the years. I hope you had a chance to see some of the artwork of our "early years." We are renovating this...
