I'd like to preface by saying this location is not safe. Not clean. Not quiet. I'm not judging people that are addicted or homeless but giving an honest review of a major hotel chains location and quality. DO NOT bring your children, elderly family or handicapped special needs loved ones here. Bad meth drug area. Bad homeless area. Cabernet night entertainment next door, Tent cities here in Salem as well as in Portland. Hotel is located next to a bridge where homeless addicted stay and they are heavy in this area, staying up all night, searching trash cans in the hotel parking lot, moving quickly thru pkg. lots of area businesses and restaurants in teams and with shopping carts, on bikes, etc. These people watch and survey like predators. Watch your back!! With that being said, at least one we encountered got in the hotel which has no security given the obvious activity, no police activity seen either. This man was rummaging thru recycle bin in front of our room in the hotel. Woke me up. Noise of people and slamming doors day & nite. The housekeeping room is not securely locked, tape over the latch so it doesn't lock. Remodeling hotel during our stay but no notification of this on the Hilton app, where we booked prior and already paid upon arrival. Room not clean and sawdust from what was remodeled was in corners etc and in/on areas of bathroom. Painters tape still on wall baseboards. Badly stained carpet. No coffee, hot water or water provided complimentary for guests like other locations or Hilton brands. Really tasty breakfast though! Omelets, bagels, toast, waffles, oatmeal packets & toppings, yogurt, juice, fruit, sausage, diced potatoes. There was also fruit left out overnight in the dining area in baskets. We had to be sure we pulled the entrance door securely behind us coming in each time. We entered in separately for safety. Husband going in with bags first while I kept car locked watching out. Then he come back out so we could enter together. We made sure to not leave anything in our vehicle that may be interesting to steal. We backed our vehicle up to bushes and up to entrance door under what we hoped was a working camera. We witnessed sketchy vehicle behaviors possible drug dealing. One drives up, one from back gets in front seat, then switching to bag seat, head down, handle their business, then pulling out. We've lived in these areas and have experience with these things. Shower was nice, Good pressure. Towels clean. Complimentary shampoo, conditioner, shower gel & lotion. Fridge was clean & worked well. 2 comp. Waters in our room upon arrival but that was all, we stayed a few days. Water not available or stocked up for purchase at front desk! $4 water to boot. No water in the fitness room-dispenser & cups there, but bone dry. Worked out 3 days, not a fill. Pool looked clean. We will not be back and would not recommend. Room was $175+ a night.

My wife, our 2 dogs, and I stayed at this hotel for one night on June 15th while we were on our way up from our home in California to Vancouver, Canada. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean, but it also felt a little dated. The main point that stood out was the older model LCD TV in the room. It was definitely not the latest technology-wise and it was also lacking the ability to mirror/cast from my iPad to the TV in order for me to watch my streaming services. Besides the dated technology, one of the main reasons we chose this location to stay at was the available Tesla Destination Charger. We were able to fully charge up our Model Y from 20% to 100% overnight while we slept. It was great to be able to depart with a 100% state of charge!

If you do not like stained, filthy carpets... don't stay here! These stains weren't normal wear-and-tear stains of hotel carpets, it looked like there was a frat party in the room and the mess was just vacuumed over. The bed linens were clean (thank goodness) although the box spring skirt was nearly as dirty as the carpets. The parking lot was shady as heck and this part of town isn't the best either. The lady that checked me in was kind and was probably the only positive part of the stay. We spent far too much money on this cruddy place (almost $20 for parking and crappy breakfast-not worth it!) and I would NOT recommend others do the same. This place does not live up to the Hilton standard. Seriously... stay somewhere else. This place is gross.

Upon arrival there was homeless folks camping next to the hotel. The area doesn’t appear to be in a good part of town. The rates on the room look great but they tack on $10 for parking. The lot and area doesn’t warrant up fees for parking. Also breakfast is $9.95. The web site states a restaurant and bar/room service is available. The lobby is a ghost town. There is no store, restaurant/bar, snack bar but only a mini fridge with limited drinks and a few baskets with a few bags of chips. It’s so sketchy outside the hotel that I dare not venture out for food. There aren’t the usual amenities in room such as there are no cups in the bathroom, no hair dryer, no iron and they charge for water in the room. Other hiltons give you water and have amenities. The room is sparsely furnished/decorated and awkwardly arranged. The first room I checked into had a window that the frame was bent so badly that it wouldn’t close nor lock I went back down to the front desk and the front desk person was kind enough to assist me with the switching rooms. It looked like someone tried to pry the window open and broke the lock. Not a comforting thought with all the homeless camps encircling the hotel. Last night on several occasions there was incoherent yelling in the hallway. That combined with the road noise created a perfect environment for a sleepless night. This is not what I would expect from a Hilton property.

Good evening, I hope this email finds you well and I completely understand your concerns. Upon reviewing the case file, I see that you had some issues with the transients, the parking fees, amenities being unavailable, and your overall unpleasant experience. I apologize that you had to go through such an inconvenience, we know this cannot change your experience, but we do hope that it demonstrates our commitment to service. All of the charges for our breakfast and parking fees are on our website as well as third party sites. Our property's parking fee is in place because we have security on site watching over the vehicles of our guests, such as yourself, to prevent theft and damages. Everything done at this hotel is to provide our guests with the best possible stay as possible, including renovations. We understand this is an inconvenience for now and thank you for the patience of those who stay with us as we spend time in transition. We understand your frustration and we apologize if you felt unsafe during your stay. Our goal is always to provide excellent service for our guests, so we’re disappointed that we didn’t meet your expectations. We would love to speak with you further about your visit so we can improve our service in the future. Please feel free to contact us directly.

I checked in, was told there was no internet, I had to pay for breakfast and I had to pay $10 extra for their parking lot security at night due to the homeless encampment on the back side of their parking lot. The deadbolt on my door didn’t work and the black out curtains were ripped to shreds. I packed up my stuff and left. This is a HORRIBLE hotel. I have requested a refund and have not heard back from anyone. I refuse to pay for a stay that never happened in no part due to any fault of mine.

The staff are doing their very best through gritted teeth, both physically and metaphorically. OK, so yeah, I get it, renovations are under way and many people have been triggered as a result (just see previous reviews). There is a high level of disruption for many, but you know what they say? "You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs", When the work is finished - (and it is well under way) - this place will fly! The staff are taking it on the chin, bearing a great burden under very trying circumstances indeed, and they're doing it with dignity and courage. They deserve the utmost respect, you are all stars in my book, Kimberley on the front desk deserves a special mention I think. I saw and read the reviews before booking and came anyway, I just had to see what was really happening! I can see what is emerging; a stylish re-vamp with lovely new bathrooms (in my room at least, 302), lobby and restaurant modernisation using modern quality materials, and light bright public areas. It is a hard trick to pull off, operating a viable hotel business AND a safe building site is difficult, I know as I've done it myself many times around the world. So, dig in people, focus and remain professional and you'll soon be the custodians of a fine hotel. Well done all!

We stayed at this property for 1 night when the temperature was over 100 degrees. There are extensive renovations going on that resulted in AC problems in the lobby so it was very hot. The staff were very nice and checked us in promptly. Our stay came with some complimentary snacks from the pantry. It looks like the rooms have been at least partly renovated. Our bathroom had clearly been updated. Some of the furniture looked out of place so there may still be changes to come. The room was cool (thankfully), clean, and comfortable. The hotel has a breakfast buffet that's actually within the food credit provided by Hhonors......this is a plus. There's a small fitness center but it was too hot to use. There is a charge for parking, which I don't think is appropriate in this area (there seems to be plenty of parking). When all of the renovations are done, I think this property will be worthy of a higher rating.

The hotel is currently under renovation. The staff is wonderful, very friendly, working under what I consider very stressful conditions. Having stayed at numerous Doubletree Hilton for several years, this is definitely not what I’ve been accustomed to at Doubletree. The location is in a very sketchy part of town, very noisy since is next to a freeway off-ramp. They charge for parking, many homeless surrounding the property, no room service unless you stay 4 days, of which we did. If you were able to find a housekeeper, he or she would give you towels or coffee, but they were very short staffed in housekeeping. Windows & curtains were dirty & in terrible shape. Again, the staff was very nice, under these working conditions,

I stayed here two nights (June 3 and 4th). I asked 3 times for someone to come and clean the linoleum flooring upon entering my room as it was sticky and dirty. The first person I talked to about it said it was probably dust as they were doing construction in the building. I told her it was not dust, that it was tacky and sticky. I asked twice more to have someone come and clean it. No one ever came. Also, we were charged $10 per day to park our car in their parking lot (we didn't find out about it until after we had checked in). Also, breakfast was not included and they were charging also $10 if you wanted to eat what they offered......we did not eat there. I will never stay there again.
