My husband and I spent my birthday weekend here in early May. Beautiful house (exquisite antiques), lovely innkeeper (knowledgeable, charming), and a perfect location (convenient but quiet). Hard to imagine a better place to stay to explore this rewarding part of the country. It is too bad that the property is for sale because we would love to return here!

The Harlan Log House is run by Beverly, a very friendly woman of a certain age who, unfortunately, has the property on the market. The guest part of the house dates to the 1720s. There are 1-2 rooms on the ground floor (I didn't investigate), two bedrooms and a sitting room on the second and one on the third. The... More

We spent a wonderful weekend here for our anniversary. The home is historic and decorated with lovely antiques. Also it was very clean. We had a bedroom and a sitting room all to ourselves. We had a fire in the fireplace and spent long hours relaxing and reading. The grounds are lovely too. A very quiet neighborhood, peaceful to sit... More

We spent one night here while visiting Longwood Gardens and the Hagley Museum, but it is also convenient to visit other spots in the Brandywine Valley. The old home is in a lovely quiet area, and it is steeped in history. The rooms are full of beautiful antiques and the bedrooms are delightful. We were treated to a very tasty... More

This is a really cool old house - I loved our first floor bedroom as well as the common areas. The pictures available on the web don't actually do it justice. It is a little like staying in an old house museum, but at the same time it is very comfortable, not fussy or cluttered. The bed was supremely comfortable,... More

Really nice inn keeper but but the overall impression is that updates to the house itself are required. In any case, you are going to love the garden area!

My sister and I stayed two nights and were given separate rooms with a shared bath and sitting room. Rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. There was no road noise which was a big plus in our opinion. The breakfast was included and delicious. Our hostess provided tea upon our arrival. She was friendly and knowledgeable... More

The main focus of our trip was to visit Longwood Gardens for their Christmas display. The Harlan Log House was very convenient and Beverly was a gracious hostess. She respected our privacy but at the same time spent a nice amount of time with us during our delicious breakfast the following morning. The historic log house is very rustic and... More

The Harlan Log House is a lovely bed and breakfast. It's a very small property and the grounds are immaculate down to the koi pond. Beverly was positively gracious and has taken very good care of the property. The rooms are quaint and clean. The bed is extremely comfortable. No noise can be heard from the outside and it truly...
