We stayed at the Montgomery Mansion on a Saturday night and it was just lovely. It was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast. Our hosts were not only accommodating but very kind. We stayed in the Heather suit. The best was very comfortable and I could live in that bathroom! The Jacuzzi tub was huge and the...

Butch & Shirley were very good hosts. They made us very comfortable. Room was fantastic. Everything was just perfect. View was great. Away and quiet, but not far away from major cities. Breakfast was wonderful. All the food was tasty and well prepared.

The Mansion is so beautiful inside and out. Our room was great (Holly Room), the bed was super comfortable and I loved the copper tub! Breakfast was delicious the next morning (homemade egg casserole, blueberry scones, crepes, yogurt, OJ...) with more food than we could possibly eat. The owners are so nice too.

My wife and I booked the Mansion for our wedding, it couldn't have been more beautiful and everyone had a wonderful time. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating, even going so far as to provide the glassware, silverware, and china. After the wedding we stayed in the Heather Suite, and the room was super comfortable and luxurious.

Butch and Shirley made us feel right at home from the start. I took my wife here for a romantic birthday getaway. We went to dinner nearby and spent the night enjoying the Heather Suite. The house is gorgeous and is steeped in history and character. Breakfast was tremendous. The Pecan French Toast was superb. Highly recommended.

Montgomery Mansion is a beautiful house with a wonderful couple running it. Shirley and Butch are very friendly and welcoming, telling us all about the history of the house and giving us a tour of all the rooms. We stayed in the Heather Suite which is really a bedroom, a large bathroom and a separate room with tv. Shirley serves...

We planned a weekend getaway in the Pittsburgh area for our 10th wedding anniversary. We had never stayed at a B&B before and decided to give it a go. Unfortunately all the B&Bs in the city were full, so we decided on this one, as it was a reasonable distance from the city. Turned out that we didn't mind being...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Known by the locals as the Gingerbread House, this highly historic and ornate victorian home, located 35 minutes from the city of Pitsburgh. It has been restored to beyond it's original beauty and quality of the builder, Robert Porter, to allow for the modern day amenities. This beautiful house has been converted into a beautiful bed & breakfast, ready to treat you to a comfortable night's sleep and a scrumptious meal in the morning. The historic Montgomery Mansion was built in the 1870's by Robert Porter. It was later occupied by the Montgomery family from the early 1900s until the 1970s. The Montgomery Mansion was later owned by the neighboring Sacred Heart Church until it was renovated by the previous owners, the McAuliffe's in the 1990s when it was completely updated to it's current condition. The renovation continues under the direction of Butch and Shirley Smith. ... more   less

“Our room was on the top floor. It was very private and quiet. We had the entire floor to ourselves. The 2nd floor offered 2 twin beds if traveling with children. And the one suite on the 2nd floor is more geared toward the older fashion in mind - old fashioned toilet, shower, and bronze clawed tub.”
