Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I will say this hotel should be one of quality, but we have not had quality stays here. A few years ago we had a room with a heater that was as loud as a telephone when it came on. We ended up at Wal-Mart at midnight buying a small heater so we could stay. This recent stay was also marred. The television/television reception was horrible. There were 2 small sharp wood screws on the floor. I realized I needed something in the car at midnight. There were 8 or more young adults outside being loud and obnoxious. Asleep at 12:30 we were woken up by a loud, yelling slamming patron in the hallway. THIS HOTEL IS IN A COLLEGE TOWN AND NEEDS A SECURITY GUARD AT NIGHT TO DEAL WITH WHAT THIS BRINGS TO THE HOTEL. Desk clerks, often young themselves, are usually incapable of handling these situations. Choice Hotels don't usually have security probably for cost or liability reasons. The patrons end up paying for it in undesirable stays. Coming back in the dark the parking lines are almost invisible. They are not much more visible in the light. We're going back to a Choice Hotel of less quality in Erie that gives us quality stays for less money.

The pool was cold, and the hot tub was tepid. There were bugs around the hot tub. They got confused about my room number and threatened to kick my little granddaughter and me out right before bedtime...and in front of other guests! Mistakes are made, of course, but we had room keys with numbers, confirmation number...heck, we had stayed there before. My little granddaughter couldn't sleep because she thought every sound at the door was someone there to kick us out. Need I say more? There are too many hotels out there for this.

The hotel is well-located, and has nice installations, as one would expect for a $160 per night hotel in a small college town in rural Pennsylvania. The rooms were comfortable and relatively quiet (save the air conditioner, which made noticeable, but not unbearable noise). My complaint is that the wi-fi does not function in the guest rooms, so it was impossible to get any work done in the privacy of my quarters. I was obliged to come to the active lobby, where the quality of connectivity was intermittent. Worse, on the last morning of our stay, we came to the breakfast buffet in the last hour of operation, and due to high occupancy, most of the food was eaten, except some waffle batter. When I inquired if more food would be placed out for the guests who had not yet eaten, I was informed that it was a first come, first served buffet and that no more food would be made available for the guests. I found this to be entirely unacceptable.

Rather than discuss the point with one of the young college students working the front desk, I wrote to the corporate address of the hotel, but received no reply.

The failure to deliver on the promised amenities, the relatively high price charged, and the lack of professional courtesy or basic good manners in giving a timely (or any) response is an egregious affront.

I would only recommend this hotel as a last resort if you need lodging in this small town, and would suggest staying 15 minutes away in Erie, where you can find a wealth of better hotels, more economically priced.

Reservation was made 2+ weeks in advance to planned stay (3 nights), form email alert of cancellation, that I just stumbled upon, received less than 1 day prior to arrival time from General Manager...worded as though I was responsible for opting out of the stay. I was not able to contact the hotel directly after several attempts with repeated automated cycle of phone system, and was told by satellite customer service rep (the 2nd call that I needed to make to remedy the situation/determine why/how cancellation was made) that they "will be closed for a few days, would you like to make the reservation for another time?" Was transferred to Customer Relations that left me on hold for a half hour before I hung up - as "your call is very important to us." If customer retention and loyalty is important to this complete group of hotels, then a phone call would have at the very least been appropriate given the last minute unplanned surprise cancellation as would a discounted price at another sister hotel. Neither occurred. Instead, I'm staying at another lesser quality hotel 40 minutes away at full price (additionally more expensive than first reservation)and what i assume to be an inflated price as this is now a last minute reservation over a weekend. "Choice" hotels - ridiculous experience all around for this brand.

What more could you ask for? Clean, nice design, very comfortable, friendly staff and great breakfast buffet. I have no complaints and would highly recommend. There is also a nice indoor pool with towels provided.

My wife and I were in town to visit her family for Thanksgiving and stayed here and never regretted it. There are a couple of things that keep this place from getting 5 out of 5 stars. One is the lack of a recycling container anywhere, either in the room or in the lobby. It always pains me to throw recyclables away. Also, no fan in the bathroom means a steamed up bathroom every time we shower.
Other than those two things, I have no complaints. The breakfast was nothing to get excited about, but that's not why you're there. It's right off I-79 and a 5 minute drive to downtown Edinboro and the university. Across the street is a Wal-Mart and a few other stores and there are two gas stations there as well. The bed was very comfortable and the heater/AC unit was right next to it so it warmed you up very quickly. They had a one person pullout sofa there as well and a microwave and a fridge. The room was a very good size and the hotel seemed pretty quiet as well. When we come back to Edinboro we'll definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed there last week for several days. During our stay I noticed that the elevator had never been cleaned, there were a small apple stalk and shoes marked on the floor since the day we came until we left. And we experienced several times that the elevator did not move so we had to take the stairs. But the our room was pretty nice and clean.

The hotel is very clean, nicely laid out, and well staffed. Jordan at the front desk was polite and professional and was happy to suggest activities in the area.

We didn't spend much time in the hotel itself, but heard good things from other guests about both the pool and the breakfast.

I'd certainly return to this hotel in the future.

We traveled to Erie late July and after not being able to find a hotel in the city... I came across Comfort Suites in Edinboro! The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were super nice! We enjoyed Breakfast in the morning as well as swimming in the pool. Would definitely recommend!

I am very happy we booked with this hotel. My best friend from Florida was visiting her husbands family for a week just outside of Pittsburgh. Since that is just 5 hours from where I live we wanted to try and meet 1/2 way for a night to catch up. I read days and nights of reviews in Erie and the surrounding area. I came across this hotel and it provided everything we needed, but there was some bad reviews. So, I just went for this place and actually brought my Lysol and some extra sheets based of a few of the reviews. We were bringing our kids with us (3 all together) and still wanted to share a room. SLEEPOVER!!!! There was not a lot of options with a pool and that could sleep 5. What a pleasant surprise!!! It was very clean and well taken care of. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The pool was not freezing! I was actually in the water with my kids. Usually, I put a toe in and then watch from the side. Sure you can nit pick anything apart, but you really would have to go out of your way to do it to this place. We were given extra towels without a hassle, how often does that happen?!?! The breakfast was better than most places with the choices available. There was two different types of waffles to make, with toppings. We are so happy with this place there was no question that when my friend comes for her husbands family visit next year, this is where we will stay! Bonus: by the way there is a Bison farm within a mile or so that is family run and awesome!! It is called the Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm. You should really check them out for lunch, gift shopping and even a small petting zoo! Hope this helps - from a picky Mom of two.
