The staff were welcoming, the food was good, the rooms were basic but clean although the kitchen was next to our room which leaked gas into it. Overall we had a good time here, mostly due to the awesome people we met and the beach/sunset views from outside.

Location is great, across from the beach and few blocks from the bus stop. Too bad that it is under renovation - which the friendly staff did not tell me in advance - so now rooms are clean but the ones that have not been touched up yet are not so great-looking. It has certainly the potential to be a...

I'm a little biased because of how much I ended up LOVING San Juan Del Sur. This place is RIGHT across from the beach. The other hostels are up the street... Just not as great! It's super, super close to everything. Food of all kinds, beach, activities, bars, but far enough away so that you aren't literally living in a...

Taking your free gallo pinto breakfast while looking at the ocean totally makes up for the dirty, crowded dorms. The staff is also very friendly and will help you with everything you might need. The place could most definitely use some freshening up and you can find better places for the same price. But they do have the location and...

The dorms are really bad. Dead bugs on the floor. The showers and toilets are Dirty... there are better places at the same price. I was eaten eaten alive by bugs. ** but I have to say the people there are nice and there is free breakfast

We stayed here 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. The hostel is in a good location, a bit outside (though you need 5 minutes to the other end of the city), and right across the beach! At our stay they were building the patio which made it uncomfortable. Once its ready, it sure will be beautiful! A bad thing is,...

My friends and I had intended to stay here for our time in San Juan, we checked it out and it seemed like a pretty nice hostel, we even made dinner in the basic but clean kitchen they had. Service wasn't the best but we turned a blind eye as the two private rooms we were given we're pretty nice....

We stayed at Hostel Esperanza for a few nights and really enjoyed it! Some of the reasons we liked it so much were: that it was located across the street from the beach, great common areas with hammocks, well organized, large bathroom for a dorm room, lots of hooks in bathroom, good water pressure, free breakfast, free coffee and we...

We travelled from Mexico - Panama... We fell in love with San Juan, and for the most part it was due to where we stayed. Before we knew it we were 2 weeks already here!!!! The food, is VERY good and reasonably priced! The rooms are just what you need for a hostel, the owners are super friendly and caring...

My friend and I stayed here for one night. We were looking for a cheap place on the beach and this place was recommended in our guide book. We got there and they had a couple of beds left, so we jumped on them. $8 for a bed with breakfast included was a great deal! But... the bathroom in our...
