Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A superb hotel and great place to stay. The hotel location is perfect, in the quiet countryside but close enough to get where I have to go to. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Staff are wonderful, very friendly and will do anything they can to help. The food in the restaurant is superb, quality is top notch and really good.

Stayed one night on our way back South. A very, very good stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent room, very comfortable and extremely well kitted out. Quirky place, but full of character. Very good breakfast. We ate dinner in the Jacobean Pub. Excellent food. Cooking and ingredients were splendid. The staff were first class, friendly, welcoming and helpful. Don't often "rave" about a place, but would thoroughly recommend this.

Well it was a short trip in more ways than one to the Jacobean restaurant yesterday. It was my elderly Nana's birthday and we booked for lunch but before we could even get into the restaurant my Nana took a fall outside resulting in a broken arm (a bad one!)and was in a lot of pain, the ambulance wasn't going to arrive for nearly 3hours or more! The staff were amazing, fetching blankets and pillows to keep her warm etc.In the end it was so cold they helped get her up and into my car and we drove to the hospital. If it wasn't for the staffs help she would have been laid outside on the floor for hours, which I am confident would have been detrimental to her health.Just wanted to say a big thankyou to the team at Rogerthorpe for your support yesterday, such kind and friendly people...thankyou!!🙏❤️

Have stayed here a few times for many years now and have seen lots of changes. One thing that never changes is the five-star service! Staff always friendly from Reception and Waiting on staff to Housekeeping and Conference staff you come across. Tucked away in a quiet scenic spot and with the fabulous Jacobean Restaurant it is perfect for a short break in Yorkshire. The Restaurant serves delicious dishes to suit every palate and the portions are typical of Yorkshire hospitality (big!). Large car park means there's always enough space for both hotel residents and diners. Good choice of beers wines and spirits too to complete your stay and bar experience. We haven't always had breakfast but when we have it has been lovely with plenty of choices. We hope to be back again in 2024! 👍
