Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very disappointing - very small, shabby and tired room - very different from the photos. While some rooms have been upgraded others are clearly in need. I would have been better staying in the nearby Premier Inn

Nice and attentive staff. Rooms clean with a very comfortable bed. Very quiet so slept like a log. Breakfast both cooked and continental good. We had a meal and the roast lamb was delicious. Great cocktails as well. Only downside, the bedrooms are either on the 1st or 2nd floor, the stairs to the 2nd floor are steep and narrow, not suitable if you have mobility problems or unfit!

Highly recommended -For the last 6 months, due to work commitments, I have been spending 2 nights per week at Healds Hall. The food is excellent , by far the best in the area - but what makes me return week after week is the team. Professional friendly , attentive and clearly driven to give their guests the very best hospitality. From breakfast to dinner service - they are impressive. I would highly recommend Healds Hall

The room was small but generally pretty good apart from the black mould in several places. I paid for 4 nights with breakfast. The first three mornings I ate breakfast at 0945. The last morning I came down for breakfast at 0930 and was told breakfast had finished . Why? I asked and was told it was because the clocks had gone back a couple of days before . I was then told I could have a bowl of cornflakes. I asked for a reduction in the bill and was told NO as the breakfasts are complimentary. The staff were good apart from this individual who spoilt the whole experience.

Dear Stay35382440107 Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am surprised to see a 3* review as you neve highlighted your disappointment with breakfast during your stay. Our breakfast times are 7am-9am Monday - Fridays and 8am-10am on weekends. On two occasions you arrived to breakfast slightly later which was not a problem and we absolutely accommodated your breakfast order. On the week day you are referring to in your review, you came to breakfast at 9.45am and were offered continental options alongside a reduced traditional offering from which you chose scrambled eggs on toast. I do wish you made us aware of your frustrations at the time, the team work tirelessly to exceed guest expectations. Kind Regards Cara Spence General Manager

ABBA tribute evening and 80's disco - what a brilliant night out! The organisation and service was flawless. The staff were super friendly and very well managed. Food was excellent - well done chef! Also great to have good dance afterwards! Perfect. We'll done.

We first viewed this venue in September 2021 as a potential Wedding Venue. From the moment we visited we knew it was for us. The venue is relaxed, welcoming and modern, yet still manages to keep its rustic charm. All of the staff are amazing - on the several times we have visited everyone is so friendly and hardworking, none more so than on the wedding day. Shirley also is the face behind pearlescent events who beautifully decorated the venue on our day and is extremely friendly, helpful and talented! Matt (our wedding co-ordinator) could not have done any more to make the day run smoothly. Not only was he extremely helpful in the planning process, but on the day turned his hand to just about anything! Including helping with the groom party's buttonholes and pocket squares, helping dress and organise the room, handing out fans to the guests and even helping to assist our flower girl to walk down the aisle when she got stage fright! He even had a hoover in his hand at one stage! All while ensuring timings were kept to plan and ensuring all guests were happy. We visited a number of times for food prior to our wedding day and it was superb. The food at our wedding had rave reviews from everyone. The chocolate fondant was the best we have ever had and was the highlight of everyone's meal! All dietary requirements were more than catered for - even at the evening reception where vegan, vegetarian and gluten free pizzas were made! There is also a great selection of drinks, all very reasonably priced. The venue itself is perfect for a wedding. We got married on a very hot day and the garden area was perfect - spacious, plenty of seating and shade. Everyone commented on how beautiful the venue is, outside and inside. The Harrington suite was also perfect - it accommodated 80 day and 120 evening guests comfortably. The room itself was perfect for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception - having its own separate bar and toilets for the wedding guests. A large number of guests stayed at Healds hall for either 1/2 nights. The rooms are comfortable and again very reasonably priced - the hotel even provided fans as it was very warm. The breakfast included provided many options - continental and a cooked breakfast to order and was delicious. On a side note, there are plenty of other hotels nearby which enabled guests to stay locally when all of the rooms were booked by our guests (approx 24 rooms). The staff couldn't have been more helpful in helping to arrange taxi's on the night. The day itself was perfect and we truly feel this was down to our amazing suppliers and the team at Healds Hall. They simply could not do enough for us and the attention to detail was just amazing. We would recommend this venue to anyone getting married. The day itself felt so special and personable and this is something that not every venue can offer. A massive thankyou to Matt, Emma and all the staff at Healds Hall - we simply cannot thank you enough x

A big family celebration for six of us. Lovely food, good range of beers and wine, friendly and attentive service, a great environment in the restaurant. But there is one thing that really lets this place down: there is hardly any space given over to seating in the bar area, So unless you are first in, you either have to stand or go and sit at your table for pre and after dinner drinks, neither of which are great options.

In many ways, my review echoes that of Ian D in August 2023 and it looks that he and I both stayed in Room 112. The drive to the hotel and the exterior are lovely and so too the bar, seating area and the food offerings. Room 112 was 'comfy' and had the price point been much lower I would have been happy. Issues such as no mirror over the dressing table area, blinds which do not shut 'tight' and a bathroom which needs a major refurb did not enhance my experience. The hotel was handy for work and my evening meal and breakfast were fab but the in room experience was not at all what I expected. For £145 per night [B and B] I expected so much more. I cannot fault the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff but based on the room I was allocated and for the price point I paid, things need to be and could be so much better. Doubtful I will stay again to be honest if work calls me over to the Huddersfield area.
