Hotel is a very old building and as such is rather uneven in floor levels. Room was relatively clean but the place could really do with a deep clean. carpet had ground in plaster and could do with replacing. The linen, toilet and bath were spotless. Lots of hot water. Bar food was good value and the bar had a...

Thank you for your review, as you mentioned the building is over 700 years old, as you could imagine redecorating such an old landmark needs to be in-keeping with the History of the building. i am surprised that you and your friend wasn't joining in with the revelers. I'm unable to locate the radiator that in not working please could...

We spent the weekend "darn sarf" and stayed here on the last night of our trip before going to see Stonehenge on our way home. The room was basic but clean with a nice spacious bathroom. We arrived quite late and came in through the wrong entrance, but a lady from behind the bar spotted us and soon came to...

This hotel has had two changes of management since my last review. It is a great place dating back to 900AD. Obviously, they have made a lot of changes since that date. Our room had en suite bathroom with modern furniture, comfortable bed and wardrobe space. That's the good points The price had risen by £20 per night since our...

Although the rooms are dated the reception you get here from the management and staff are second to none, I have stayed here several times and it just keeps improving the management and certain staff members are always helpful.( the lady in the sports bar on a Wednesday and Thursday was extremely rude and kept leaving the bar for a...

The history of the George is etched in every part of the building. The welcome is warm, the public rooms are dated but classic coach house style. The rooms are well appointed and with all the individuality of an aged building. Well located in the town centre. Ideal for travelling in the A304 and enjoying an evening in Amesbury.

Just held my wife's 60th birthday party at the George, we used their function room. Ideal for parties of around 60-70 people. The George did the catering for us and it was very good, worth every penny The staff were very helpful. Large carpark at the rear for guests, also easy access for the DJ. Would highly recommend.

We have not been here for a while, so decided to give it a try again. The food and service was very good. Well worth a visit. It did go down hill, when it changed hands earlier in the year. But it has all been sorted now.
