A stunning four AA Red Star country house hotel, near to Bath, Longleat & Lacock. The outdoor heated pool is gorgeous in the summer, whilst in the winter open fires are as warm as the welcome. Enjoy the beautiful grounds, a delicious lunch, traditional afternoon tea, bar snacks or fabulous two AA Rosette dining. Friendly yet professional staff complement this wonderful building. Free superfast Wifi is available throughout the hotel, terrace and walled garden. We will ALWAYS match or beat any rate offered by the online travel agents.

Stayed for a winter break on a Monday and Tuesday evening so the hotel was a bit quiet. The staff were all very helpful and very well trained. We had 'Beech Room' which overlooked the gardens, it was a traditional room with all the facilities one needed. We booked a dinner and breakfast package and the food at breakfast and dinner were excellent with a good choice and very well presented. There were lovely open fires in the reception rooms. Great place to base oneself, went into Bath one day. On the way home we went to Avebury. Would definitely recommend as a country house hotel.

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting friends nearby. We were really impressed, very clean and a nice warm feel to it - open fires and cosy bar area. The room was a standard room and perfectly adequate with a comfortable bed, modern bathroom and all the useful amenities that some hotels lack these days- iron, iron board, fridge with water. We will definitely stay here again and look forward to trying the outdoor pool area next summer. Oh and breakfast was delicious with a very polite and helpful waitress.

Beautiful location but overpriced for an average room that was no where near to being of a high standard… stayed at premier inn for a third of the price which had a cleaner room! Seriously needs an update if your going to charge these prices for average outdated rooms

We got married on 5th September and arrived at Beechfield House for a private dinner. As it was a small party we hired The Card Room which comfortably seats 6 with space. The food and service was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for Beth the assistant manager and Anthony who were working that evening. Both were very friendly, quick with their service and knowledgeable about the food and wine. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The weather was perfect and we were able to sit outside in the garden for drinks both before and after dinner. The service was just as good the following morning as we stayed over. Breakfast was superb and it was a lovely end to a fantastic day for myself and my new husband. We are local to the hotel and will be back again.

We spent three nights in the Coach House, Bed & Breakfast - and used the pool every day. Breakfast was excellemt, Full Wiltshire for me, Vegetarian for my wife. The room was luxurious and comfortable, and we took advantage of the charging fcility for our EV car. But the key factor was the positive attitude of hte staff as a team - always attentive amd positive. More like a stay with god friends than at a hotel. Unreservedly recommended for a restful break - we will be back very soon!! Mike & Frankie Holness

This hotel is beautiful, the grounds and pool are delightful. Staff, great, welcoming and friendly but could be more of them at times. The menu is fixed every night and could do with a review, limited choices, bit dull but decent quality. Very pricey! Great breakfast. They are very dog friendly which made our stay. The pool is amazing! Rooms were very hot but it was 30 degrees outside! We had a cosy room which was lovely. Could have had more fans, however I would definitely go back, it’s a special place.

I recommend people visit. Positives: excellent check in with information provided and given towels for the pool all delivered with a smile, staff are second to none with outstanding service and thoroughly helpful (on the hottest day of the year they should be commended). Our room was not ready at check in but supported with luggage storage and full use of the facilities and we were found when it was available. The food was tasty and we flexed the menu which was accommodated. The room (acacia premium room) was comfy and a very good standard,it has no air con but that's expected due to the age of the property and shower was over the bath, temple spa products are always a delight and fluffy towels and bed linen were provided. The pool was refreshing and a joy to use on a hot day. A massive positive is the maintenance is impeccable, try to find a scuff on the wall or a stained chair and you will struggle. Negative: maybe slightly expensive food £25 for fish and chips and £38 for steak, £14 for a cosmo but we had a dinner credit so was expecting these prices. Maybe the rooms have better cooling methods. There are not enough loungers so maybe some chairs could be supplied. Overall I'd rather pay the extra few quid on the food for the extremely well-maintained hotel with the luxury of a pool which are a maintenance cost and enjoy this little luxury hotel. Would I go again? Yes, I want to see how it looks at Xmas time.

This could be an absolutely wonderful place.....but. Great location, lovely garden & outdoor pool. Lack of poolside loungers, dark & dated dining room. No ice available for 2 hours on the warmest day. No towels available for pool for 45 minutes. Had to wait an age for a poolside lounger. Very rude female receptionist, who felt that being articulate, smug & terse was a good way of engaging. The barman/waiter was a gentleman. He was saturated in perspiration, rushed off his feet. The hotel clearly has staffing issues & generic operational problems. After reading some of the reviews on here & the hotels responses, maybe we shouldn't have wasted over £340 on a nights stay. Anyway, let's see what they come back with.

Thanks for your feedback - so sorry that we struggled on one of the hottest days of the year where everyone wanted to take advantage of the sun loungers which for most of the summer are sufficient. The hotel was very very busy with last minute bookings - apologies that this impacted your stay.

I enjoyed my stay with this hotel. I cannot fault anything apart from minor bits and pieces. I had vegan food for my dinner. Although it was from packet, the chef prepared it nicely. The lettuce was fresh and burger was not greasy. The only downside for me is they allow dog to stay here. For that reason I won’t come back. Highly recommended for people with pet. Staff were polite. Thanks to them.

Reported atrocious smell in the room to the duty manager on arrival, they told us they were “too busy” even to go and check the room and left us waiting for two hours and still failed to come back to us After a four hour drive, with 2 tired children, we had to leave to find last minute alternative accommodation. Having worked within the travel industry for 30 years, I have never come across such a rude, unprofessional and clearly inexperienced manager. AVOID at all costs

Thanks for your repeated reviews on here and elsewhere. One probably would have sufficed but we all have our own agendas I suppose. Clearly we had a problem with your room which could have been handled much better. I am very sorry that this affected your stay so much. Unfortunately on the day you checked in the duty manager’s car broke down and he did not come in. The hotel was full and the less senior staff on duty had no alternative room to move you to. With more experience they should have cancelled your booking but this is not lightly done. We subsequently traced the smell to milk spilt by the previous guest in your room. It has of course now been dealt with. Whilst we totally accept that your room was not to our usual high standard and apologise profusely for this I cannot accept the very personal attack on the member of staff trying to deal with a difficult situation. We do not believe the words you have used to describe the service given by Beth, our assistant restaurant manager, correspond to reality or to the vast majority of opinion of our guests
